There is CGI, just not with Carrey's direct facial expressions. He learned to talk and do the facial expressions himself. The really complex stuff, like at 2:06 when his mouth falls down and his tongue rolls out, or at 2:16, when his heart is beating out of his chest, or when his head turns into a howling dog- that's ILM's CGI. Those kinds of things can't be realistically done any other way and look convincing. CGI was starting to really get sophisticated and available around the mid '90s, especially after Jurassic Park had come out.
Fun Fact: The Mask, in the rewritten script for Carrey, had the nightclub scene in SoCal, but no nightclub allowed them to interrupt nightly business. Jim told the director he owned a club called the Coco Bongo in Mexico and they could use it. So this scene was filmed in Carrey's personally owned nightclub in Mexico.

I love the plot twist in this movie where the obvious bad evil girl ends up being loyal and trustworthy, while the good nice trustworthy woman ends up betraying. To few movies do this. And its the only movie that managed to suprise me with this plottwist. Every other movie I saw it coming.
I kind of respect her. She had enough of the Hollywood and putting up with crap so she just quit got married and started a family. Instead of going on and on in a toxic industry

Born in 1985, was about 9 years old when I saw this movie and on this scene, I fell in love with Cameron Diaz... for me, she was the most beautiful girl in the world!, still can’t close my mouth in her dance/singing scene today... I love Jim Carrey movies.... I may be SO wrong but I always wanted Jim Carrey as The Joker in Batman... wouldn’t you like that?

If you want a continuation I recommend the animated series from 1995, it's a fun cartoon and it has Rob Paulsen (from Animaniacs) as Stanley Ipkiss/The Mask. 😁
i watched son of the mask and after 10 minutes of watching it i turned it off and threw it in the bin
I die laughing every time I see this scene. And nothing makes me laugh harder than when he ogles at Tina and his mouth drops down to the table and his eyes bulge out. Talk about lol! And it never gets old.
