Mig19 has awesome performance in every category except turn, but the simple lack of rudder authority makes it very difficult to use effectively. If the rudder were slightly better, it would dominate top tier. The guns work really well when you hit with them though.
In this match I get chased by Javelins and dodge missiles, make some difficult shots (Mig19 shots), witness a missile teamkill and get a maneuver kill.
Now that supersonic jets have been added, compressibility drag becomes important which changes optimal climb speeds, and has other counter-intuitive consequences.
Would you be interested in a Mig19 vs F100 performance comparison once the flight models are tweaked?

They should remove missle lock warnings. For one, you cant know if a IR missile is on your ass because its a passive device, only that its been launched (which is a very recent tech), and two they didnt have missle lock warnings back then/
They can be detected on radar, but yeah I agree that the warning should be removed. Someone suggested having a marker on the missile, I think that could be cool instead.
They've said it's not linked to any tech the warning is a notification that your pilot's spotted the missile, I think it's linked to one of the pilot attributes too, anyway that was their explanation for it and why every plane in the game has the notification.

The missile warning is only the text, the growl is when the missile is ready to lock on a target.

TBH If they would fix the Thrust on the F100 and I think they made it heavier than it should be it would be a more even thrust to weight Because with no bombs and just full fuel and sidewinder complement the F100 should be around .7 and the mig 19 in a similar config would be .75
We'll see when they (or if) they change it.
@@AdamTheEnginerd I mean IDK what the in game weight is but it is certainly missing around 1000-1500 depending on the source for the thrust but regardless it's missing loads of thrust
F100 really feels gutless, and seems underperforming in maneuverability and speed.

Adam air to air missiles came out in the late 1950s and by the mid 1960s they had misslie warnings in jets plus I’ve been playing and been noticing that my teammates are firing their missiles from the extreme limits of the missiles lock on capability’s and getting hits that’s why I don’t want them to remove the missiles warning
Huh? The vast majority of aircraft did not have warnings for IR missiles in those decades. 1960s would be the early years for being able to detect when enemy radar is trying to lock on you, and that's still not IR. You can only detect IR missiles when they are launched with radar or with your own thermal imaging equipment.

Yes, i was the javelin that did fire all those missiles at you.
and if you travel at 450kph, you will turn slower than anything. WEP does the trick, and maintaining a good speed of 750-500kph helps a lot. Good vid. And hey, firestreaks can get lucky at times as well, with 5G max and a speed of mach 3

Yeah Javelins should always be WEPing. Thanks! I mean if the enemy dodges one missile and he knows you're still on him, the likelyhood of getting a missile kill is pretty low. You did keep me occupied though.
Russian and US missiles have 6G max with a lower speed, so they should be more maneuverable than the Firestreaks. Firestreaks have speed and proximity fuse?
+Adam514 As far as i know it packs 22.7 kgs of explosive, so im guessing 10, maybe .08 metres?
also bringing you down at that altitude was my idea, in an attempt to make your climb riskier so my teammates or i can pick you off when you do get the chance to climb, but damn the mig can just climb whenever it wants lmao

Actually the f100 on your tail was pulling the correct maneuver. He would reduce the bank angle and pull hard going up then coming down inside your turning circle. Keep your eye out for that maneuver. It’s a favorite of Americans
In the beginning of the turn? I think he was just trying to keep up with my roll, which delayed his turn start.

Have you tried or fought against the P-38K yet? That plane absolutely dominates anything in its bracket, and I think you'd really enjoy it.
No they are pretty rare, and I don't have it. Heavy fighters and P38s aren't my style though.

Why does the screen go black sometimes?
When calling targets? Or pulling Gs?
I don't play but was looking into it from Heroes & Generals. It seems a few times you're doing sharp turns the screen starts fading to black where only the center of the screen is barely visible. Is this some sort of game mechanic?

When you pull a hard turn irl you lose consciousness that black screen is to simulate
Great! I still have a lot to learn, i'm struggling right now with a nearly stock mig9 (only fuselage and compressor), everything seems to be faster in straight line and has better turn.
Only F100 is faster than Mig19. 9.0s have better turn though.
I think the mig 19 is the best supersonic , but with a bad armament(only 140 and 2 rockets , very poor) .Happy New Year Adam!!
2 missiles is ideal for me, 4 is overkill. And in jets I usually don't get as many kills as in props, so low ammo count is less of an issue.

For me wing sometimes rip so easy and sometimes they dont rip.
I'm no good or bad jet player. Still learning. So who is best to ask then you since you know what you doing.
It depends how much fuel you have. You can rip at 9Gs with full fuel or 11 Gs with low fuel.

@@AdamTheEnginerd Thats about how my aim is for every engagement, always a few bursts close but no cigar. U would have had him on that last shot with more ammo I think. I really struggle with flying one plane to the next with aiming. If I stick with a plane for a while I can get decent at aiming with it, but you are always good with every plane. The craziest was the MIG-15 in your last video. Never seen anyone one tap kills in a MIG like that before and you did it 3 times in one match lol. This one too with no rudder, its so hard for me to get kills. Impressive stuff as always Adam.

Great video man, agree with most of your points except the fact that I'm pretty sure the f100 can out roll the mig19 at around 6-700 kmh. Also you gotta be careful of f100s when they're diving
Hmm I'm not sure about that, Mig19 rolls pretty well in the subsonic speed range, while F100 locks up earlier and is also worse at lower speed.
@@AdamTheEnginerd the mig19 is definitely better at most speeds, but between 6 and 700 it's almost as good as a sabre, if not the same as long as you have boosters installed. I'm not sure how the 19 compares to that, don't have it.

I don't like to spade planes because it reduces their maneuverability so much while making them pointlessly faster and better at climbing. What is the use in faster climbing if I can't flip over fast after a climb? If I wanted to just run away and surprise attack I'd just fly ME 262 all the time. And as for MiG19PT, it is a bit ugly. The spading seems to make it turn like a battleship.
Spading improves everything including turn though.

nice vid! I really think mig19 is the best jet in the game now, after getting used to its performance. The only drawback is that mig19 has no rudder lol, but yeah you can try to predict their maneuvers and use the BEST 30MM EVER to destory them. Comparing to mig19, f100 sucks lol. Even f86f2 has more threat to mig19.

Just, I’m struggling getting the upgrades for the 19. What play style did you use when it was stock ?
@@StarcraftGT500 You have to use what I call, the stock jet tactic. I've used it for the 17, 15, and 19, among other jets. Do your best to stay out of the way of the enemy, when you are in a stock 19 you don't have boosters which makes a huge difference. With no rudder or boosters, you're basically a meme. Climb to around 2.5-3k meters and hang out, stay in clouds close to your friends. Dive down when you see someone who is low on energy or is not paying attention to whats going on. The worst thing you can do in a stock jet is to be alone, so above all else, just stay close to teammates or fly with squadmates. If you get in a 1v1 or 1v2 or god forbid a 1v3 in a stock jet, you're dead, they are most likely spaded (the enemy). Hope this helps.
missile warnings have a 2 second delay with a stock crew and it goes up to .5 seconds when aced
I'm expert, I usually see the warning right after I see the launch smoke.
Can you do a video on the MiG-19S? An extra cannon, better performance, but it's missing missiles, but that isn't a bad trade in my opinion.

You don't think you could of had a missile kill on that F-100d at the end? He was slow and you had a pretty decent launch angle. I haven't unlocked the 10.0s yet, but I can't imagine the missiles are THAT bad.

supersonic jet's play is too boring to me.
1. against them. every single time they do this(especially mig19 which has about 120m/s Climb rate) --> Boom&Zoom->fail->Climb up(whatever i do, i can't follow that)until the game end.
2. use Supersonic jet. Fun to play but there is no turn fight or vertical fight. just shoot, run, missile
I've had some pretty interesting fights in supersonics too, but I do get what you're saying. I find jets in general was very linear, and the addition of supersonics may change that up a bit.

Mig19 is not a dogfighter. Its a interceptor. it was used as such.

@@AdamTheEnginerd all soviet fighters of this era had issues with controlability atleast in testing that sometime made it to production models. The early migs also had issues with negative pressures in the fuel tanks resulting in implosions. I hear the dcs model thats coming out also has rudder stiffness issues. Maybe this is correct for the mig19. I do know the mig19 was used to intercept the US U2 spyplane and one was even shot down by its own countries SA2 missiles. Its a issue with doctrine. US was more about multirole. Soviets were more worried the US was going to bomb them and they wanted to intercept the bombers. Hence the Mig25 and the large over the horizon radars of later era. Russian woodpecker. US had nike ajax and could most likely shoot down any soviet threat in bomber form. US was more concerned with a ICBM threat. USSR focused on missiles vs bombers.
All I'm saying is that the rudder is horrible on the Mig19. I don't have enough information to say if that's accurate or not.
Fuel tank implosion flaw was in many Russian jet fighters.
Still disappointed that Gaijin added lock-on warnings. The entire point of heat-seekers is that you need a visual to tell that they are coming.
Yeah. I would understand if the warning were a temporary measure to ease players into the new mechanic. It can still be removed.

How to access the "local host":
You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!
Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT:
-Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila.
Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.

MiG19PT is insane but after BR compression I can't get shit on it, because I never kill planes that are less threatening than a Harrier but mirages and mig1s are gladly shoving me 30g's up my nozzles after getting 3 kills in a row
u cant hear supersonic things? u can if u are at a similar speed, its not about the sound barrier, but about relative speed
When supersonic, you can't hear things that happen behind you.
In this case, I heard the missile travelling at Mach 2 before it passed me, which isn't possible.

Even though the MiG 19 has better performance I just find I'm more suited to the F100. I much prefer it's guns and how much of a superior gun platform it is, that coupled with its incredible speed in a dive and its low level speed make it terrorise people down low.
They are different, but yeah as a gun platform F100 is better.
