That match you were unlucky. 2 fire gone out thats unusual for japanese planes and that beginning was really close, that could ended really bad. F6F-5 is hard to play especially alone, bad team and axis have always the initial advantage. Sideclimb and team is almost gone. I think thats why some people put bombs on because they just give up sideclimbing against axis to get atleast some points. merry christmas to you and happy flying. Dont forget to grind for the premium japan.

honestly I just load ground target belts and rockets and go for pillboxes. Allied players are so unbelievably bad it's not worth going for air targets.

@@AdamTheEnginerd it's the ultimate counter to bomber spams and can catch plenty of enemies off guard. You should flourish with it
bomber hunting is aids though and definitely not worth anyone's time during early game
@@vincea1830 It's not aids when they literaly just aim at the nearest base in a straight line, which German bombers (that premium Junker cancer) do 100% guaranteed. Beyind that it plays more as a support fighter since competent fighter will outperform.

Ever since seeing your hammerhead video, I've had much more success doing the maneuver, which has become my main tactic for the Lightning and Mustang. I have been taking notes from your previous vids and using them to my advantage, such as when an A7M tried to zoom climb for my P-38L-5-LO; he stalls out, I loop over, and his drained energy means he can't dodge the ensuing headon.
Great vid on the Hellcat, "the ace maker" of the Pacific theater. This just means more notes for future battles to come! (I actually prefer the normal Hellcat to the N version, due to the former's already poor climb being further reduced by the latter's radar and cannons)

Ive really tried to get this plane to work but Allied teams getting roflstomped at this BR sure does not help, along with its horrendous climbrate. Its nice to see that someone agrees on lowering its BR for little bit.

Nah F6F is significantly faster than Zeros. But it has limited WEP, and without WEP F6F would really struggle.

The most paintful japanese fighter to fight with the F6F is the A7M.
It hardly fights them though, the only A7M it can face is the premium one.
Next step up would've been the Xf6f-6 although the F4U-4 corsair was already around
I had saw some A7M lasts matches that i fought japanese with the F6F-5, the F6F-5N fight him more usualy.
I wouldn't be surprised. Most of Japan's late-war fighters were faster than the Hellcat, or at least as fast.
@Infinity The thing is, the Germans used the same airframes for the whole war and produced many many variants of those airframes; so one version could be obsolete while another version could be very competitive. Bf 109 G-6, for example, is mostly inferior to the P-51D, but the K-4 has a better climb rate, power-to-weight ratio and acceleration. Fw 190 A is also mostly inferior, but the Ds have the same advantages as the K-4 does over the Mustang. So it's pretty hard to compare a Bf 109 or Fw 190 to other Allied fighters since there are so many differences between variants. But German fighters do have advantages that an experienced pilot can make use of. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to use those advantages 😂

I think that the F6F is alright at it's current BR. But imagine flying the F6F-N (worse performance but has radar and two of the M2s are swapped for cannon)in a full uptier at 5.3.
Both should go down in BR a notch.
I like the radar F6F. But I think it's way too underperforming in it's BR. Can't even properly use it.

Nice video man :-) Agree with that BR 3.3.......this fighter need lower BR or better FM, because it´s like food for everything. Americans really need something like P-51 B/C on 3.7 - 4.3 Machineguns work good as always.

The flaps on this plane is an ABSOLUTE CHAD of a flap, I just had a spitfire mk 9 go for me with atleast 1km of altitude advantage, I went defensive and made him overshoot, most spitfire users are cocky so after an overshoot most usually turn really hard losing their energy advantage, he turned, lost a crapton of speed and it was a 300-350 kmh dogfight, I pop the flaps down on the f6f and it was absolutely head to head in terms of turning with the spitfire, I got a lead on him 4 times vs his which was just 1 in a rolling scissor

Hey Adam, never commented, but im just impressed by your situational awareness and your decisionmaking in this game. Would be really great if you could make a "tutorial" how to get from a . okayish player to a good player. I know a lot of this is just practice but it would be nice to learn ( get it lined out in a few examples) one or two things that might give you an edge ( e.g how you keep your situational awareness during dogfights,) in an average game without beeing an unicum right away.

Kinda the reason why I quit WT tbh. Its either fly Axis or don't fly at all until jets. The release of the F89B/D at 7.3 killed my jet grind with Germany because the ME262 just can't compete against it.
I've always found that A6M's are some of the most likely to put out fires in War Thunder. That always bothered me, considering the real aircraft

@@andrewmandrona7891 Fighters that had extinguishers were rare. The main effect of self sealing fuel tanks is preventing fires. It doesn't increase the chance of it going out once it's started much.

I play WT with Zeroes for years and 9 times outta 10 if it burns it burns. Especially when shot by US 50 cals.
A P-47 with tracer rounds is like a flying flamethrower, you can spray as long as you want and the enemy catches fire by time he is hit.
Played tracers once, shot a plane with 1000 rounds and he didn't die, never again haha.
The most annoying thing about tracers is that the smoke trails hide your shells and you can't see where they land (or don't land) on the plane

Nah it's still rare. But it does happen like 10x more on the Allied team compared to the Axis team.

About that fire before they commit, I was using the P38 and saw a guy trying to head on me 2kms out. I saw him and fired a quick brrt not even a second long and it took him out before he was able to fire.

Despite your win, this match reminds me why I stopped playing a few months ago. Ineffective 50s (or hisparkos), allied teams that die a lot (probably due to the aforementioned guns) and if it wasn't the prop balance it was F-89 rocket planes everywhere or Mig-21s with OP missiles.
Allied teams lose because they have more useless planes (bombers, ground pounders).
There are BRs that are fair.
@@AdamTheEnginerd That is not always the case or even most of the time the case since the Ju288 exists. Even on matches where fighter numbers are comparable they still have to work harder for wins and I do not buy the crap about axis players being better fliers. I watched a subsequent video of yours to this one and there was a P-47M that came to help you and he was absolutely spraying down an enemy before finally getting a kill. You mentioned he had tunnel vision. An enemy came in and took him out with a quick burst while he was busy fire hosing the axis plane with 50 cal rounds. I think that is a very accurate snapshot of the effectiveness of the guns between axis and allies props and I think has a direct correlation on allied win rates (and enjoyment).
@@ltankhsd Ju288 is one plane at one BR, can't generalize with that.
P47M was missing quite a bit since the FW190 was dodging, and he was slow for the other FW190 so it was a very easy shot.
@@AdamTheEnginerd Me264 below the 288 BR gets good amounts of play same with BV238. Also I will have to take your word for the misses since I can't see the replay but it didn't look like he was that far off in your video and combined with how much lead he threw downrange he had to have been hitting some of the time. You also had a game in the I think F6F (fiddycals) vid where you were critting Japanese planes like crazy and had to duck, dodge dive dip and duck all match until their engines finally gave out from the various crits and leaks caused while they were still combat effective for a very long time after being shot.
@@ltankhsd Me264 is at 4.7 now, it's fine to deal with. Ju288 is a big step above Me264.
F6F you mention is this video haha. This video had under average 50 cal performance, usually my 50 cals perform better than this. 50 cals are decent on average, no complaints from me.

Ground out the British Hellcat Mk. II today, and spent a good afternoon wrestling with the thing. I've been playing mostly Zeros this far, and gosh is there a difference. I got my ass whupped by Bf-109F4's so badly I almost ate my keyboard. But in the end, it seems that the place to start is patient outclimbing.

Aftet I seen this video i decided to go back to the Hellcat after ditching it bc i didnt know how to use it. I hopped in a match.. 4 kills, 5k research, 18k SL and a team without useless players. I had a great match, i learn so much from adam's videos lol, he isnt a war thunder teacher, he is *the war thunder teacher*

this is one plane i really struggled to fly for both the americans and the french towards the end i got better but my kill to death ratio in this model in particular is atrocious not so bad in the cannon cat but the normal F6F yea i need to take it out again now that i am a much better pilot

It's called the "local host".
How to access the "local host":
You need to be running War Thunder or it won't work!
Option 1: on the same computer that is running WT:
-Type localhost:8111/ in the address bar and press enter and voila.
Option 2 (which also works on the computer that runs WT):
-Type Your_IP_Address:8111/ where you replace "Your_IP_Address" by your IP Address (192.168.X.XXX) in the address bar and press enter and voila, you can look at the characteristics on another device while flying.
What I do is I record it on my laptop next to me at the same time as the gameplay, and combine them during editing.

I understand that this was done using the "Open Map in Browser" button, but the question is: is this done already at the montage or is there some kind of utility that allows these lines to be displayed directly from the browser on top of all windows?
It's done during editing, but it is possible to overlay it over the game. You need to play in windowed mode and use a program to overlay part of your browser over the game.
Alternatively, there's "Void Mei" which does it for you.

Be patient, shoot small bursts if you don't have a decent profile to hit, and try to predict what the enemy will do next.

I have a question for you...I noticed that the F6F was designed differently than any other single engine WW2 fighter I have read about..."The tilt of the engine was matched with a zero-incidence wing setting, which meant that at take-off or in cruising flight the engine was horizontal while the rest of the aircraft was tail-down. At full power the fuselage became horizontal for minimum drag." Can you educate, I can only picture a speed boat planing out, but that seems somewhat not right to me. Thanks you...
Uh that doesn't look like it was the case for the F6F, it likely did have wing incidence. Anyway, the purpose was to have the fuselage be parallel to the airflow to minimize drag while the wing has enough angle of attack to produce the required lift in level flight.

Self-sealing mainly prevents leaking. If you have big holes or the fire is already set, doesn't help that much.

2:17 notice the AP-I salvo hit right on his fuel tank. I've noticed that since about the beginning of 2018, the zeros don't catch on fire as much as they did before. Gaijin making it up for console players maybe?
I doubt Gaijin cares that much about console players, and I don't see the link between Zeros not catching fire and console players.
Very nice video and nice carry! Only 2 mistakes you had: 1) the F6F actually turns better, than the J2Ms, but only then if you are above 350 km/h. So you have to keep your speed up, in that case the F6F turns better. 2) no, the F6F should NOT be in 3.3, its fine in 3.7.

It's awesome to see you fly an F6F. Think I brought it up a long time ago, and in such a tough match. I must note that you got extremely lucky they flew so poorly, especially the J2Ms. You don't even need good turn to beat a hellcat. All you really need is a little better energy retention and good climb and you will be alright against a hellcat. I've done so in my Bf109 F-4, G-2, Yak 3, J2Ms. I have a feeling that their team was just a bad team that managed to beat your much worse team tbh. And yeah the hellcat should definitely be 3.3. only way I think it gets 3.7 is if it gets P-51D belts and a climb that is a little under that of the P-63.
I wouldn't say they were anything other than average, and as you say they still recked my team quickly.

@@AdamTheEnginerd yeah. I still think it shouldn't sit at the same place as the Critpano-51 and P-63 which I find much more enjoyable to fly at 3.7 for the Americans. Better climb and almost as good as a 109 through 4000 meters, faster, equal if not better armaments depending on how good your aim is. Not that you can't do good, but it works best when you have a squad and get that Thatch Weave level of teamwork going on. XD

Fire doesn't mean crit though. Fires can damage things which leads to a crit, but not always. It's how their system works.
Fw-190A1, It’s actually not too bad. You have some performance advantages over your enemies, unlike pretty much all the other 190s.
