    With the Simplex (Couch) Chevron Pull at 0:54, my guess is that there probably used to be a 4208 or a 2001 before the 4100+ took its place.

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Or maybe even a Simplex 4246, 4247 or 4211 system from the 1960s! They were even around in the very early 1970s alongside the Simplex 4208 when it was new.

  • @ZakWolf
    @ZakWolf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Looks like the Simplex 4100 system originally there was installed in the early-to-mid 1990s, I wanna say around 1992 or 1993, as that's when that kind of horn/strobe configuration was typically used on new Simplex systems of the time. Then you have that old Simplex 4251 "Chevron" pull at 0:54, obviously left over from an older system before the Simplex 4100 came in (either when the building was expanded or renovated.)

      @@safetech Quick question, How come when you pull the pull station sometimes the alarm double beeps and sometimes it beeps normally? Basically how come sometimes it double beeps quickly? (on walktest). Two examples of the quick short double beeping is 6:07 and 7:32 and an example of them both together at 8:05

    • @BigGreenFireAlarms
      @BigGreenFireAlarms 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ImFirstPlace The double beeps mean that the current activated zone is the same as the previous zone. If you pull a pull station on zone 5, then pull another pull station on zone 5, you'll get the double beep the second time. The double beep also represents the digit "zero." Zone 10 would be one beep followed by two quick beeps.

    There's a mall/office/residential/hotel complex near me that has a *huge* 4120 (probably at least 30 nodes) with 2902-9732 speakers on 9501 strobe plates in the 1993 areas. Interestingly enough, some of the speakers have been replaced with Simplex megaphone speakers - on the strobe plates. There's also some passageways that have the speakers mounted next to Gentex GXS strobes for some reason.
    The complex has undergone many expansions over the years, so there's a LOT of variety.

    Not trying to tell you how to do your job but... You really should pull the stations.
    I have come across several pull stations that either won't pull, or pulled and failed to actuate the switch, but worked fine with opening and closing the cover.

    • @TheCricketGirl
      @TheCricketGirl 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Good point I agree but the main reason for not pulling the pull station is the fact that they are loaded with break rods. You wouldn't want to break them and need to replace them.
      Also, in the description it says this is a horn/strobe test and pull stations get tested at a different time of the year.

    • @trainknightt
      @trainknightt 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The point of this test was to ensure all notification appliances function as intended after a panel replacement. The pull stations were likely already functionality tested 6 months prior and/or right after the panel replacement.

    There's quite a similarity between this and my Mini Test 70 video.
    1. The main alarms of this building is similar to the retrofit combo I used (except the strobe plate in my video does not use a reflector).
    2. This video was published on the same day the 2020 re-upload of Mini Test 70 was published (originally uploaded to my old channel in two parts back in 2014).
    3. Both videos share the same "test number" (for lack of better words) of 70.
    To be fair, I didn't plan for it to work this way as that I technically uploaded Mini Test 70 to my channel (along with many others) way back in April.

    Well the 4100 from 1996 at my high school I went to. It needs a upgrade bad. Because it’s starting to die. The display does not work anymore. The last time I was there it kept going into trouble a lot. They is also a 4208 there but it only runs the three 4050s that are left there. The rest of the 4050s got replaced with true alerts around late 2009 or early 2010. But a advance replaced one 4050 that died mid 2009.

    This uses the walk test function? Is walk test only used for testing of the pull stations? Do any other fire panel manufacturers have a walk test function?
    What is the “drill” function?

    • @damaniwilliams8219
      @damaniwilliams8219 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Sorry that this is 1 year late. But new panels usually have a Walk test feature to limit the noise that people hear while the system is in testing. Walk test is used to test all Notification devices and not just testing of the pull stations. Its just a more quiter option if there is occupants in the building.
      The drill function is A Function that Puts the panel in Fire drill service, basically notifying the FD that a Drill is taking place and not to respond. Although some places still have them on site just in case but Most places do their own drills with the drill button, plus I believe you pay the FD Directly when these drills take place, so it makes things easier

    Huh, both the horn at 4:02 and the panel's piezo at 9:41 suffered slight pitch changes for whatever reason.
    10:25 Continuous, what a surprise...frankly if this was a panel upgrade shouldn't the system have been set on Temporal Code 3 as specified in NFPA 72? So many of your videos show systems that had the panel upgraded yet left on the same code they (supposedly) were originally, even though NFPA 72 should forbid doing so.
    Still though, nice video, nothing like mechanical horns.

    • @safetech
      @safetech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      In most cases the local AHJ allows for it given no drastic changes out in the field. I believe there may have been some coding issues with this install early on with some sig circuits becoming left open, EOL issues, ect.

    • @officialsimplexguy
      @officialsimplexguy 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Its strange that this is a reoccurring thing. My high school is probably one of few systems that actually switched the coding over to code 3 after a 4100es was installed.

    • @TheCarson116
      @TheCarson116 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@safetech To be honest that makes no sense as NFPA 72, along with all the other standards they set, are NATIONAL/FEDERAL standards, thus I'm pretty sure they MUST be followed and CANNOT be overridden by a state-level organization or otherwise anyone below the federal government.

    • @safetech
      @safetech  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not saying that its right however there are instances where AHJ can have final authority if their point proves more stringent. Not sure what their final argument in this case.

      @@officialsimplexguy Actually, Continuous Is Becoming More Prone Oddly Nowdays, I wouldn't be suprised if The Coding Requirement Goes back to Continuous Or By Regional Choice Honestly. In my Opinion, Non-Temporal(Continuous) Works a Hell of a Lot better in Evacuations Due to Some devices Being Unbearable To hear when its not coded. Truthfully, I'd Code Systems On Continuous If there's no need to Do A Code Change, Especially When the Devices are old and They still work. I'll do my best to sync the devices strobewise, But a Signal Coding Change is Really Stupid, And Cost A Hell of a Lot
