    These fire alarm bells sounds amazing and cool I love the sound of the fire alarm bells when they are on code 3

      Something buildings from the 70s that get expanded get horn strobes in the new section and bells with strobes in the old section. I went to a building similar except it had Wheelock alarms

    Interesting how they installed the bells and strobes that way. Normally in a case like that, Simplex would've put the bell on a 4905-9921 trim plate with horizontal 4903 strobe, even if they have to get the right-sized backboxes. Or were the strobes installed some time after the bells were?

    • @brianthetowerguy979
      @brianthetowerguy979 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The strobes came in way after the bells, I just have that feeling by looking at the overall set-up. And I love your idea of the 4905-9921 plate and I would of done the back boxes with them too.

      I wonder if this building expanded at some point? I know of a building that opened up in the early 70s and initially had Wheelock bells and when they added an addition in the late 80s early 90sto the building the addition had Wheelock horn strobes and they put strobes in the rest of the building and kept the bells.

    I’m not 100% sure, but I think I remember reading somewhere that Simplex panels can sync audible NACs and smartsync horns together. I know that’s what they did at my CTE school which was a mix of TrueAlerts, old Wheelock and AC horns

    • @ZakWolf
      @ZakWolf 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The horn/strobes are actually ceiling-mount TrueAlerts.

    • @burnoutteamclubbtcp7283
      @burnoutteamclubbtcp7283 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There's also wall-mounted Truealerts as well. The Bells appear to be left over from an older fire alarm system.

    I wonder if its a Canada thing to put mechanical bells in restrooms? I know the US the days of the bells they weren't in restrooms but modern fire alarms they have sometimes horns or speakers in restrooms and sometimes just strobes

    I do find it wierd you guys are allowed to do this. Here, we can only run bells together or horns together, can't really mix them, as you wanna keep the sound consistent. Only time they are 'mixed' is Bells in the halls and Mini Horns in the units. Or the occasional horn swap over and they miss a few bells here and there.

    If the devices are being coded by the facp, its hard for them to get out of sync

    • @weatherdan882002
      @weatherdan882002  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Yes, but the horns are smartsync and the bells are not, and smartsync has a different coding pattern than regular coded devices. As mentioned, the panel has the ability to run the circuits so that the audibles turn on and off at the same time.

    • @weatherdan882002
      @weatherdan882002  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Malfunction. Over time the mechanisms can wear down to the point where they don't have the power to make the striker hit the gong. One solution is to adjust the mechanism, but that may only last for so long.

      @@weatherdan882002 my middle school had to replace 2 1956 gray single stroke bells on the original fire alarms. One in the auditorium with a red bell and one with a scoreboard sounding horn in the art wing due to malfunction. What does T-taped mean?

    • @weatherdan882002
      @weatherdan882002  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Basically it's a circuit within a circuit. It's okay on an addressable initiating device circuit because each device is individually addressed and monitored, however for NACs and conventional initiating circuits it's not allowed because the panel can't properly monitor for circuit supervision (if a break we're to happen in the branched off circuit, the panel wouldn't know because it'd still see the end of line resistor in the original circuit).

    • @SytenixRBX
      @SytenixRBX 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@weatherdan882002 there’s a way you can put a EOLR in a device on the same circut, however it is not possible on 2 wire devices I don’t think. On a device that’s 3 wire, you can use the negative terminal your not using and the panel monitors that like it’s an individual device. (Idk if you already knew that)
