I know this is an older video but thank you so much for it. I got the game a couple weeks ago but the rule book is less than stellar so we had some questions and stumbled through our first game. We found your video and it makes a lot more sense now.
My wife and I just played this tonight and had a great time. There are lots of tactical and strategic options to pursue. And although some disasters may damage you, it doesn’t count you out for the game. My wife got affected by a disaster but still pulled the win. Great production and gameplay. It’s in the same wheel house as Gold West, but I like this more. Thanks for doing this video, Rodney. Great job as always.
Omg i just found it so adorable when you placed the cattle token on the card behind the wagon illustration. It's meant to be! 😍 Also, I attribute my newfound love of boardgames and growing collection to your videos! This is making my quarantine more bearable and fun! Thank you!
It's fun when you can make the board game pieces act like what they should be doing, right? :) And thank you for the kind words and for finding the videos helpful as you dive into this hobby - that really means a lot.
Thanks for the video! Ive taught the game incorrectly twice now... For some reason I thought it was 5 weeks and 5 days each week... I always like to watch your videos to make sure I didn’t miss anything. Thank you for the quality videos!
Just got this game for Christmas! Unfortunately the manual is written rather poorly, and left me confused on several points. I appreciate your structured, organized approach to all your rules explanations. You cleared things up for me, particularly what you can do with the dice on your turn. Thanks!
Amen. Grab something to drink, kick back, and let Rodney's soothing voice take you on a journey where you come out the other side knowing exactly how to play yet another game. He's a cornerstone of the gaming industry. I cannot tell you how many games I have bought solely on watching his excellent instructional videos. It makes it so easy to determine whether a game suits my taste or not. Case in point, this video now has me interested in this game. If I were a game publisher, I would pay Rodney whatever it costs to do a "Watch it Played" video for my product.
This game looks wonderful. Nice detail. I can see a followup game/expansion, making a new town/settlement, based on how well you did the trail. With wood, you can build buildings. And those buildings will help with protection against disasters (walls, hospitals, sheriff’s office), or gain stuff (silver from banks, shops; favors from saloons). And things like banks might influence disasters in other ways as well: higher likelihood of being raided?
Sounds like the one has your imagination working :) Will be interesting to see if any of your ideas are what the designers might have in mind if they decide to publish an expansion.
Hi Rodney. Great video as always! Maybe I'm thinking too much, but if you choose the wild die can you pick only any other action,i.e., take a wood, take medicine? Or, can you take the villager or silver amount at that action as well? Thanks in advance!!
If you run out of the 2pt tokens, have someone trade in ones they amassed for the larger 10 pt tokens, so you have some 2pts back in the supply for people to take.
Hi, me and my partner are discussing on if during a disease disaster, it states you must pay medicine for each town folk on the board but it also states either pay medicine or discard the townsfolk. Our debate is, even if we have enough medicine to save all the town folks, could we also decide on not spending a medicine token and discard the townsfolk? Thank you.
Also there is a townfolk Deal Maker, "You may replace any number of items with cattle when fulfilling the needs of town". Does that mean I can spend a cattle for a requirement for 2 equipment or 4 silver? Thanks
Hey TMan, you must avoid disasters as much as possible, if you have the resources to do so. You'll find this covered here: th-cam.com/video/lwcX2kYvb7U/w-d-xo.htmlm32s
I'm glad this is not shipped to my country. Otherwise that would be an insta-buy. And I already promised myself (and my wife) to keep from buying any more game for some time.
I confused about unique character ability ,1.) scarlet ability "after selecting a die, you may re-roll it once. if you do gain 1 silver" is this after or before triggering equipment? 2.) jake abilty, " when draw gold token, allow you to draw 1 more gold token than discard any gold token from your inventory", if i have equipment lamp (effect "when draw gold token, draw 1 additional gold token, then dicard one of token drawn"), then when i trigered my equipment " take 1 gold token, does that mean i draw 3 gold token and discard 2 gold token? 3.) michelle ability " she may change the die before dice trigger, but she has to choose taking income for action" is this for free or i must pay 3 silver?
Hey Gunung, while I will do my best to help with overall rules questions, I avoid getting into individual card effects, as that would be too complex for me to keep straight across all the games we cover. For that, I'd suggest dropping a note over on the website BoardGameGeek, in the forums for that specific game there, to see if someone might be able to assist.
What's up with this game? Is it out or what? TMG website has no information and almost doesn't mention this game at all. Board game geek has controversial information or at least seems that way. It kind of slipped under my radar, it has a "Premiering Essen Spiel 2017", it has "Q1 2018" release date, but no mention in Amazon or anything like that...
It had a release date of 4/15 I think, but I know a number of stores had trouble getting it from the distributors. It finally showed up last week at my FLGS here in AZ.

I'm so glad to hear this was helpful!
Calling the ultimate destination "Victory Point" was a pro move. Well played, TMG.
I needed a quick refresher and this was nice and succinct, got me ready to play again!
I hope you had a great time playing!

Glad you've been enjoying the game!
This is a game I wouldn’t normally consider but your walkthrough has as usual been superb.... definitely a game I’m going to buy
Hey, glad you enjoyed what you saw Col!
Would love to see a playthrough of this!
Thanks for the interest!

Happy to assist Angel!

Very glad to know this was helpful Carter - have fun playing!
I think I've said it before, but again...watching you explain games is like zen. Even when the games suck, I don't care.
Here's to many more zen moments in the future :)

Perfect timing. I just picked this up. Thanks Rodney !
checkrazor76 ha! Me too. Going to play tonight, hopefully.
Timothy Weddle How'd it go?
Naderbahn _ it went very well. This game is fantastic.

Just reading your comment sound awesome for expansion.
Rodney, thanks for another high quality video, looking forward to playing this one!
Thank you for the kind words Kent!
Yup, gonna check this one out. Good job, as usual, Rodney!
Thanks Frank!
Game looks really Fun! Another great Rodney!
Thanks Darrin!

With the wild symbol, you may take any one of the other dice actions: Mine, Equip, Cattle, Wood or Medicine.
Thanks Rod
It's essentially 'Oregon Trail' the boardgame! Which isn't a bad thing at all!
Great explanation as always Rodney!
Thank you kindly!
This game is more fun than the actual Oregon Trail boardgame!
Hi Rod! Would you explain the 10 pt favor tokens again. I'm assuming that the2 pt tokens are the ones awarded during the game. Thanks. Great video!
If you run out of the 2pt tokens, have someone trade in ones they amassed for the larger 10 pt tokens, so you have some 2pts back in the supply for people to take.
Thanks Rod!!
Definitely want to see this played!!
Thanks for the interest!

I'm not looking at specific town cards right now, but if one said "supply us with 2 equipment", then you could use 2 cattle instead, yes.

Thanks once again, Rodney!!!
A pleasure - glad you liked it!

You're safe... for now!

Now that you’re partnered with BGG, does that mean that the Producer list will come down around the time you would normally do a fundraiser?
Later than that, because the producers don't get updated to the credit until around November.
I am not sure how popular are, but can you make the HTP video for Star trek Ascendancy and Runewars the Boardgame?
Thanks for the interest Vedran. I avoid pre-announcing games we might cover as my schedule can change and I don't like to disappoint.
This looks fun!
Thanks for checking it out!
Hey Man, Could you pls feature a place in the sun by Vermin games?
Thanks for the interest. I avoid pre-announcing games we may feature because my schedule can change and I don't like to disappoint.
Seems like a interesting game
Can you do a terraforming mars how to play video?
Thanks for the interest Lauren. I avoid pre-announcing games I might feature as my schedule can change and I don't like to disappoint.
I just want to know if anybody died of dysentery🤔
I won't rule it out :)
Sold me on another one, Rodney.
Glad I could help!
I like the cow meeples. Cowples?
Patrick Towey mooples

It is out now. I believe it got delayed because of a shipping container that got held up, but for the details, we'd need to go to the publisher.

"Dangers await", you mean Dysentery? Hahah
Very likely!
