@@WatchItPlayed so are the bridges and lamp and fountain (places without names) count as spots? And can the blacklagoon creature attack the bridges or does he just pass under?
@@gairethnelson Yes, those spots without names are spaces. The Black lagoon creature can still move on lands spaces, it's just the only creature that will also use water spaces (which it would shorten their path).
My wife found this game and we tried watching a How To video from someone else and 1 minute in she didn't like the person or the game. But then I showed her this and she watched all of it and is interested in the game again. You are just great at this
You, sir, have a true knack for this. Extremely well done! I honestly feel I'll be able to take it straight from the box and play immediately, and not once were you boring. Just... amazingly well done.
This video had our game group playing Horrified immediately without issue after watching it. I would love an 'American Monsters' version of this game explanation. There's so much confusion over various monsters behaviour in the AM version, the rule book is amongst the worst I've encountered (misprints, unclear, lacking information and contradictory). A clear, concise, video like you did for the original would help clear up alot of confusion. Help us Obi-Wan Smith, you're our only hope (I appreciate it's on Ravensburger to make this happen but hopefully you can Jedi mind trick them in to it if they're crazy enough not to have asked you already).
Thanks for the interest, and sorry to hear that version caused some confusion. I doubt I'd cover that one as I suspect the general rules are the same as this one, aside from the individual monsters.
I’d agree with this request! I just got the first game, and there’s some contradictions on how to use items and what not. If it was a small mechanic of the game, it wouldn’t be a big deal, but it completely changes how the game is played.
Rodney, your videos are incredible. Thanks to how you explain them and deliver the explanations in such a great way, my board game collection has improved greatly. Keep up the stellar work 👍
Rodney Smith is the best person I’ve ever encountered for making rules explanations simple, fun, and positive. Whether there is an explanation from him plays a critical part in my decision to buy a new game. This video is no exception. Looking forward to playing this game with my family tomorrow.
just bought this game since there was a Watch it Played video. What a great little gem! Used the video to teach my non gamer wife and we really enjoyed it! This would make a fantastic "gateway" game to introduce people to the hobby. Wonderfully thematic, easy to learn mechanics, and great replayability with numerous creatures, combos of said creatures, and heroes with different abilities. Thanks again Rodney!
This guy is literally one of my favorite channels to watch! He's friendly and detailed in his explanations. Just a pleasure to watch and listen to and has helped me make TONS of purchasing decisions
Great video. Picked the game up after watching this video and we all love it. Easy for the kids to pick up the rules. Love the classic monster theme too. Thanks for demonstrating.
It’s funny, after watching tons of “how to play” videos, Rodney is just at a different level. Thanks for showing me how to play this game that arrived today 👍
Bought this game a month ago. Love your video on it! What I like to do in 2 player, for some coop competition, is if we beat the monsters the player with the highest token value at the end "wins". Makes it even a bit more challenging.
Having bought Horrified to start my journey into solo play and maybe with friends, (if I can find any! 🤨) this is by far the best guide on this game that I have found. Whilst this vid was 5 years ago it is still relevant today with excellent and well thought out explanations. Thank you for your work. I wonder how many takes it took to get that introduction right? 😃
This game is so intimidating when you first play, as there is so many details and all of them specific! This video was incredibly helpful to teach me and my boyfriend how the game is suppose to be played, and gave us a general idea of each of the pieces that come with it! Thanks so much, we’ll be looking at this channel each time we get a new game from now on!
Hey, very glad to hear this was helpful - modern board games can feel a little overwhelming at first, but there is a lot of fun waiting for you, once you get a handle on the rules. Good luck saving the village from all those monsters :)
I love your videos man, they make board gaming that much easier and fun. I like how you explain how to play a game without being long winded or overly explaining the rules unless it's a complicated rule. Even if a game has an official how to play video, I always check to see if you've covered it first.
I have a question, if the monster moves and attacks to a place where there are two heroes. In which, one of the hero is the current player's turn's hero. Do they choose the other hero to be attacked or they have to choose themselves instead?
Hey there, I'm always happy to try to help with rules questions, but if the answer is provided in the video, than I have to direct you there. You'll find an index in the description to help you find the section you might be looking for.
