It really warms my heart that most of your videos nowadays are sponsored, as it means that you are finally getting the recognition and reward you deserve for the value you bring in the industry (being featured on BGG I'm sure is a great honour but it doesn't pay any bills). It has been a joy watching you grow and noticing the subtle changes in assertiveness. Your presentation skills, hard work, attention to details and of course the magnitude of your output are inspirational. You're also probably one of the nicest guys in the hobby :) So kudos and thanks!
I was honestly not certain what to expect with Tapestry upon hearing the initial information. The buildings looked nice, but I was not certain what part they would play in the game. They just seemed a little large and clunky. Having watched Rodney present this game (and for me, he is the best intro option out there), the use of the buildings makes sense, and I am extremely looking forward to getting this game. Given, I'll need to watch this video a dozen more times to take it all in, but I am excited to do so.
As encouraged, I didn't hesitate to write this, but sadly, I don't really have anything to say besides thanking you for your job and your warm personality. Hugs and kisses Rodney, keep being you.

I broke the news to my wife that we will be adding yet another Stonemaier game to the collection (Scythe, Wingspan, Viticulture are all three our regular plays..... pretty much to the exclusion of almost everything else anymore). She will watch this video. I told her to prepare to be totally blown away. How does he keep doing it. We played Viticulture four times on Sunday alone!!!!

This was incredibly helpful. Tapestry is an amazing game, but definitely pretty dense to get your foot in the door. This made the rules very digestible and I'm excited to share this game with more friends.
I feel like a kid on Christmas Eve!!! Tomorrow is the big day for preorder. I have my alarm set, and am ready to go. I cannot wait! Keyforge has a few pages of rules but the cards have rules each just like this game. So like in a card game you learn the game as you play. So its still a simple game to start but complex game to win.
Guess its a little late to say it but, I ran into your videos (The really old ones, back from 2013) And I really enjoyed the tutorials you have made! You have helped me teach other players at my table and I just wanted to say Thanks! Your videos are fun and I like how you used to interact with the viewers (Legendary Marvel was fun!)
It's interesting that Jamey Stegmaier says Terra Mystica has dropped in his ranking of all time favorites and yet he keeps borrowing mechanics and has clear influences from that game.
@@MrPeter13th It's pretty obvious. It's a constant source of inspiration for him. You see it in Scythe as well. This isn't just my opinion, he has said as much. I just found it interesting that he keeps drawing inspiration from a game he has come to regard less highly than he used to (though still enjoys I would imagine).
@@cabalpaxiarch7239 Well as he makes games that he feels take those concepts and builds on them, or changes them, he would likely see more and more flaws in the original concept. It's because when you are that in depth into the game mechanics, you will start to see issues that you didn't see before. Especially when his goal is to take those concepts and build on them.

Im wondering why force the first turn to be income and not just have every player start with 1 of each reasource and randomly deal 1 terrain tile and tapestry card as part of set up.
It teaches new players how the income turns work organically. If you've played a few times, feel free to make the starting condition "post first turn" to save time.
It is in my hot little hands and I am about to set up my first play through. I got it yesterday and dreamed all night about building civilizations..... I am beside myself...
Watch It Played Four games, each one played something wrong... LOL. Watching the video has been a tremendous help. Jamey did well to get the rules down to four pages, except that it made the game unlearnable from the rules!!! We really love our Rodney!!! If it were not for you we would be hopelessly
@@WatchItPlayed Rodney....OH. MY Goodness. We ended up playing six times over the weekend. Completely hooked. We didn't play it right four times in a row. But we finally got it right the last two times, I am pretty sure. I have ordered some organizer trays for the player pieces, and the tiles. I used my label maker to make putting the Landmarks back into the proper spots easier. But we really loved the game. It will definitely see a lot of play time. Okay, it already did. Average play time was just over 2 hours, but part of that was just learning time. I know we will get that down a bit. My wife beat the crap out of me every time. the second game was the lowest score, with only 94 to 68. I don't know what happened there. High score was 272 to 185. There is so much going on, and so many things that make this game interesting and fun to play. I was totally blown away. I am off to Stonemaier's site and write a review. Wow is all I have to say. There was a metric ton of hype on this one, but I do believe it lived up to it. I have seen some whining about some minor things on the Facebook page, but I think the consensus is that it is a great game and I totally agree.....Thanks for your great video. My wife thinks you should do instructional videos for life skills; like how to load a dishwasher,. She really had never spent a lot of time watching your videos as much as on this game. But this one was a bit trickier.

Hey Rodney, one question for you, and I may have just simply missed the answer. When during an income turn without a tapestry card in hand, you play from the top of the deck but you said it plays face down. How would you flip it over to gain any result? Or is this just a dud space on your tapestry now through to the end of the game?

Hey Rodney, Couple of questions .... 1. Do landmarks count as buildings of the same type (ie. in case of architects) 2. Can you place a landmark over 2 districts (not off the board and not on a red dot) Thanks!!!
Hey Dregar, I avoid trying to answer questions related to specific card effects, combos, civs, etc. I cover too many games to be able to go to that level of detail, but I can answer #2 as that's about the general rules: yes, you can cross districts. If you post your civ questions to the publisher, or on the games forums at BoardGameGeek, I'm confident I'll get your answers. Cheers!
What's control vs conquer ? I have a civilization card that lets me place a building to control a territory tile, but it says another player can conquer it if they come there. I'm guessing (atleast bga does this ) that my trap card can protect my building too and topple a players outpost - in that case does no one get it or do I get a point for that tile as i "control" it with a building and my opponent's outpost is toppled, like when gaining VP for the hex on the Red dice. Also do I get points for the adjuscent tiles that match around it or only when I have an outpost ?
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!

hahaha it doesnt mean is not a complex game. Complexity can arise from simple straightforward rules.
Same as Concordia, few pages rulebook and 20 minutes of me talking.
They didnt say how big these pages are :)

Probably going to be a variant or expansion coming out in the future in which the starting resources will become asymmetrical.
Might also be a starting civilization that triggers at the beginning of the game. We didn't see them all and he said there are 16 of them.

Five players can take a bit longer, but it will get faster each time!

It is a dud space. Best to get a tapestry card in your hard (which isn't too hard to do)

Couple of questions ....
1. Do landmarks count as buildings of the same type (ie. in case of architects)
2. Can you place a landmark over 2 districts (not off the board and not on a red dot)

Hey Dregar, I avoid trying to answer questions related to specific card effects, combos, civs, etc. I cover too many games to be able to go to that level of detail, but I can answer #2 as that's about the general rules: yes, you can cross districts.

What's control vs conquer ? I have a civilization card that lets me place a building to control a territory tile, but it says another player can conquer it if they come there. I'm guessing (atleast bga does this ) that my trap card can protect my building too and topple a players outpost - in that case does no one get it or do I get a point for that tile as i "control" it with a building and my opponent's outpost is toppled, like when gaining VP for the hex on the Red dice. Also do I get points for the adjuscent tiles that match around it or only when I have an outpost ?
Also is there anything that gives me vo for the amount of explore hex I have placed, or just the benefit i get on it when I place it
I do my best to answer all rules questions on the games I cover, but I avoid individual card effects, as that's a level of detail beyond what I can manage across all the videos I do. I'd suggest checking the rules forum for the game on BoardGameGeek or the publishers website. I hope you can find your answer there - have fun playing!
