So much respect for alonso. Not many drivers dare to reach for greatness and go into indy car, le mans to reach really rare heights. Thats why i think he is the greatest driver post schumi
He was tremendously unlucky with his f1 decisions, but being a LeMans/WEC AND an F1 champion is much more glorious than piling up F1 title after F1 title under very similar conditions, specially when you car runs 1 second faster than the competition and even the second driver is doing well ...His F1 comeback, pushing that Aston Martin to great heights (as much as it could...) is also a remarkable feat.
@@jaguatiricaimediata5305 his greatness is seen in how he can take a mid tier aston martin and make it run near the top. And he has been doing it for season after season. He reminds me of the great f1 drivers of old. Of the 70s-80s
@@geekdiggynot true, he got offers from Red Bull as well as Mercedes, but F1 is a gamble when there are regulation changes. McLaren promised him a title winning car, so he went there…
Yeah, pretty much last year's winner as well. Toyota should of won so many times but was pledged with bad luck. Seem to always have the superior quicker car, but something always seemed to go wrong at the very end.
It's really exciting to watch actually. Constant overtakes even within the classes themselves and it's really interesting to see the race unfold. There's always something dramatic going on too, like how a car with a flat tire will make it home if at all and how much they'll drop in the race. There's also the night bits which are just lovely to watch. Edit: I usually watch F1. This race is more interesting for 24 hours than F1 is for anything in between the first and last couple laps and the pitstops.
today for me alonso is still the fastest living driver but he is so unlucky with the cars, even back then kimi was world champion, the team didn't give him what he needed and chose to gamble with New kid hamilton, no wonder the sponsors are running away from mclaren
You couldn't spend another minute or so on the great claw back of time the #8 ran through the night? Or a bit more on the LMP2 battles? Le Mans deserves more than just a glancing blow of a review. This was rubbish in making people want to tune in next time!
of course its team orders because '' Fernando is faster than you, can you confirm you understood that message?'' He was 2 seconds faster and recovered the 2 min disadvantage that they had at night.
Why wouldn't they have? High end racing like WEC isn't about having a good battle. It's about advertising your product and proving it's better than your competitor's product. Most people, when they hear about Toyota's victory at Le Mans, aren't going to check the full results or the car/driver lineup to see there were no other hybrids, they'll just think "Wow, Toyota won a 24 hour race so their car must be really good" and the next time they're shopping for a car, there's a higher likelihood that they'll subconsciously buy a Toyota instead of some other brand. It may not seem like much, but even if just a thousand people (out of 7+ billion) end up buying something like a Camry because of it, Toyota will still get more than $25 million of extra revenue.
Hill became World champion in 68 & also won Monaco GP His Indy was in 66 & Le mans in 72 the triple is winning Monaco in year you win the Championship. Graham won Indy as a rookie as Alonso won the 24 hours as a rookie so for Alonso to equal Hill he needs not only to win Indy but another Monaco in a Championship year. I have followed motor racing since 1961 and I believe Alonso is easily the best F1 driver - his weakness is in teams he races for or timing of his moves.

that's what alonso looks like when you give him a car he can compete in.
He spent every year since 2008 in shit cars.
I do feel sad for his bad luck in choosing teams. He gets a bad car almost everytime.
@@uap24 younger drivers got all the offers for the good cars. he didn't choose bad teams, he was stuck with them.
Can confirm now
Literally

YES!!!! ALONSO WINS! One more win at Indy 500 and he's a TRIPLE CROWN!
Engineer 314
Congrats on the hollow victory.
McBaron Congrats on making Toyota look good.
Well deserved win for Toyota they would have won regardless of Audi or Porsche being present this year. Speed and reliability combined
0:41 so close! :O Come on Fernando! One more win at Indy 500 and he's a Triple Crown! :)
Hope Alonso gets the triple.
All Alonso haters watching an Alonso video... i can feel the pain. Sorry guys, Alonso got Le mans.
I wish he would try Indy500 again. Triple crown babyyyyyyy
0:40 holy fuck that was close
Nadal + Motorsports = Something I Will Cherish Forever
Fitting that his fellow countryman win the race. Both of them legends in their respective sports!
Time for Alonso to try rallying
Ehem
Group b and kubica
Alonso to Indycar confirmed!
Lol
Aged well
And Comeback to Formula 1. 🤣
2 podiums in a row 🎉

The only things that makes racing exciting period for me are crashes and onboard footages.
0:40 are we just gonna ignore the fact that, that poor guy almost got ran over? lmao
Alonso saved him mate !! Champ for a reason
Finally! Congratulations to Toyota! Go back to F1 now 😃
Nah actually
No

Pls no, Toyota sucks
They won’t !! Toyota made it clear that F1 stupid and annoying regulations lead to the exit
Lexus will come.
He only needed the indy 500 to get the trial crown
00:40 close call!!
Im a simple f1 fan. I see Alonso, i upvote.
I remember watching this live, seeing Alonso jumping up and down haha. Great moment for him, but more importantly TOYOTA!!!
01:56 Isn't it Hanley not Hayley?
00:23 Is the number 10 Dragonspeed,not the number 31.
Also, the nose fell off before it hit the DragonSpeed car.
Fernndo is back to the winning side
That double penalty for Toyota #7, for what shouldn't even be a penalty, was ridiculous.

More of a sad reality...
still more interesting than last month's Monaco and Canada Grand Prix combined
My point!...
Ya can't beat Alonso
How to win at Le Mans : wait for your competitors to leave 🤣🤣🤣
Alo wining in a two class car. Good job.
0:40 that almost ended very badly
It's about time. Happy for toyota. I like porsche a lot too but i hate how the last 2 years ended
Last time I was this early 24hours lasted... Well, 24hours
I still don't understand how you can take a 24 hour stream and turn it into a 3 minute video.
Who’s following Le Mans 24 for the first time thanks to Alonso?

Wheres Palmer?
Can someone explain me what's the race all about
"Just" an indy 500 away

I’m still so confused, why did Toyota even bother, they were racing nobody in their hybrid LMP1 class

it doesn't matter, Toyota battle to win this race for 20 years, 20 YEARS!!! it was more like an inner battle than a battle against other lmp1 cars.
They needed a w at Le Mans
Because the Prius needs some marketing.
I agree. This is like winning at the paralympics as an olympian.
Are there any highlights???? Really
So it’s le mon right?
indy is so boring i dont see why it's even mentioned during events like this
It's because a win on indy 500 is required for the triple crown
3 f1 drivers winning le mans

Rigged? They forgot to refuel? 🤔
wtf is alonso doing in le mans
Did Toyota have the leading car slow down for a dead heat photo op? smdh...
Given Audi and Porsche didn't race,it's Toyota's only chance to win.
Good effort though, it's a long race..
MrZillaman73 Toyota got extremely close in 2016, Toyota has proved it can race and surpass Porsche and Audi

I feel like the only ppl who watch this race is French and people from Spain. Am i right?
from India too.

The triple crown is winning Le Mans 24hr, Indy 500, and Monaco the year you win World Championship
I don't know about winning all of that in one year. I think you mean throughout their career.
