    *People are harsh with him, he shouldnt be considered as a 'simple' 2 times World Champion.*
    Because this man was able fight for championships with a car that was not fast enough (2010, 2012), fight for podiums on almost every race with a mid-grid car (2003, 2011 and 2013), fight for points with a bad car (2009, 2014, 2016, 2018), was able to score some points with a GP2 car (2015, 2017)

      Well said, I would say the most complete f1 driver since Schumi. Almost on par with Hamilton's one lap performance, higher level of situational awareness, and superior in terms of mental composure. In all but one season, if he hadn't got his knickers in a twist and won 07 like he should have, he would probably have taken 08.

      @MT-pv2rf 4 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@REYSIM Lol. Button beat Alonso in 2015, you clown.
      As for Rosberg, I'm sorry, can you please tell me what happened in the 3 years previous to 2016? Oh that's right. Hamilton walked into Rosberg's team and beat him 3-0, from 2013-2015. The score is 3-1.
      Also, anyone can lose to a teammate when there's a disproportionate amount of misfortune and circumstances involved. Alonso is not above being hampered by bad luck and he clearly wouldn't have done any better than Hamilton in 2016, who, by the way, was constantly put on the back foot throughout the year and still managed to get within 5 points of the title. Let's not forget that it was a dominant car in 2016 so Rosberg was virtually guaranteed to score maximum points any time Hamilton had an issue. The beginning of 2014 is also a good example of this as Hamilton suffered a reliability issue in Australia and it took him 4 race wins in a row to take the lead of the championship.
      Oh, by the way, Rosberg is a highly rated driver and everyone is realising how good he was now that he's not in the sport any more. He knew Hamilton since they were boys on the karting scene. He was never as naturally gifted as Hamilton but he clearly had tremendous raw pace. By all accounts Rosberg looks faster than Alonso over 1 lap, so, if you really think that Alonso would have dominated Rosberg at Mercedes in the hybrid era you clearly don't have a clue. Rosberg would have taken more poles and let's not forget that Mercedes had a philosophy of prioritizing the leading car on track and I can only see Alonso having a complete meltdown in this kind of scenario.
      Here's a fun fact for you. Alonso has not faced a competitive teammate, with parity of support and equipment, in the high pressure, high stakes environment of a competitive car, since losing to Hamilton in 2007. This is a very very long time that we have not seen Alonso deal with teammates taking points and wins away from him in competitive machinery so it really is completely laughable that you expect him to walk into an environment like Hamilton and Rosberg had at Mercedes, where Toto Wolff and Niki Lauda were clearly invested in both drivers, and dominate like he did when he had the whole Ferrari team built completely around him against a subjugated #2 driver teammate who did not win a race since Brazil 2008.
      Thing is though, Alonso was never going to drive for Mercedes anyway as Toto Wolff has stated that they blame him for his role in the 2007 Spygate scandal, so it's completely pointless for you to imagine a fantasy scenario of Alonso driving for Mercedes anyway
      There is a reason why Alonso only has 2 titles while Hamilton, in comparison, is on the verge of becoming the most successful driver in f1 history and its got nothing to do with Alonso being unlucky. He made his own bed in the sport and Hamilton simply outsmarted him and navigated the shark infested waters better.
      Oh, lastly, Hamilton did clearly beat Alonso in the same car, as a rookie, as the rules stipulate that if drivers tie on points then a count back system is employed, whereby, 1st places, 2nd places, 3rd places etc are taken into account. They tied 109-109 on point's, 4-4 for wins, but Hamilton beat his vastly more experienced reigning 2xWDC, in the official championship standings, by virtue of having more 2nd place finishes. That's not to mention the fact that Hamilton led Alonso in the standings nearly the whole season. From race 6/17 in Canada, all the way to Brazil, in fact. Alonso only led Hamilton in the first 2 races. He was literally playing catch up against Hamilton virtually the whole season and he just couldn't handle it at all, hence why he resorted to blackmail, with his own involvement in the Spygate scandal, in a failed attempt at sabotaging Hamilton's career.
      Here we are, many years later, and Hamilton is still going strong, while no top team wants anything to do with Alonso. His career is finished. Done. Finito.

    Whenever there is any post on social media about Alonso people will say like he is toxic, he burned bridges and bla bla. Yeah he made some mistakes, but whenever he was in car on track he was giving everything. Extracting everything from his car. I agree he did some mistakes in his career but at the end he is also a human. He fairly deserves one more chance to come back in f1 and deserves a competitive seat. I still remember how passionate he was during his Ferrari days. And was giving everything for Ferrari to bring the championship. Vettel is nowhere at the level Alonso was at Ferrari with better cars than Alonso's. But still Vettel also failed. Then it is not like Vettel bought bad luck that's why Ferrari is failing as everyone says Fernando brings bad luck. It's a motorsport anything can happen. Some things are not in drivers hands like car design and all but good drivers are those who give it all when they are on track. And Fernando is one of them. I don't care what people says about him but he deserves a chance to comeback. I hope he will be back.

      If McLaren didn't sabotage Alonso's car, Hamilton wouldn't have collected that many points in 2007. But the British team preferred the British driver, and they didn't want the Spaniard to win. They would adjust the pressure in Alonso's tires to make him slightly slower. Not too much, because they wanted constructor's points, but just enough to make Hamilton qualify before Alonso. This deliberate setup started in Canada 2007 race and continued till the end of the season, albeit with a few exceptions where they allowed Alonso to win. This is the main reason why Alonso left the team he always wanted to be in, after just one season. Imagine the feeling when you know your car is being sabotaged so that your teammate would win.

      @@TsS.87 Not really serious, noone's champion in a Haas, no matter how good. Only a Mercedes would do from 2014 onwards, with maybe the exception being 2018 with Ferrari or Mercedes. It's always easy to say in hindsight though. Alonso missed out on Red Bull, but did anyone really see that coming? It would have been easy to see Ferrari and McLaren continue at the top after 2008. Okay, the rule changes, but Alonso did choose Ferrari, only to be caught out by Red Bulls.

    I vividly remember the San Marino Gran Prix and Alonso defending himself from the attacks of probably the greatest dirver ever. Even my father, who didn't like F1, was watching it expectant till the finish line like the rest of us. It was very exciting, we really celebrated it. I think many people in Spain couldn't keep away his eyes from the TV when an F1 race started.
