They would have been utterly disappointed Ford could no longer compete in the TOP class. When Ford went out to defeat Ferrari in the 1960's they didn't say:"Let's win one of the lower classes and claim victory for our ignorant target demographic." They said:"We want to win LeMans outright in the top class."
Porsche won the 2016 LeMans with their Porsche 919. That one in its unrestricted Evo form lapped Spa faster than a Formula 1 car. Now *that* is an engineering marvel. Who cares about whether Ford or Ferrari won in the GTE Pro class??

Why eco boost because ford doesn't need a v8 to make 600hp
There are tuners now boosting that engine in the F150 to over 1000HP. I have one and its makes plenty of go-go. However, I would like to maybe take it to about 450hp and 500lbs torque...just takes a chip.
GM makes just as much with a 16valve 5.5L naturally aspirated engine lol. Way more impressive.

So what does it say about their v8s? Maybe not reliable or robust to survive a 24hours race??!.. Just to proove you can race and win with an ultra boosted v6? Its a bit sad that ford let their v8 aside and anthousiasm for these reasons.

I remember the 1, 2, 3 Le Mans sweep in 1966. As a kid I even had a slot car track that had a Ferrari and a Ford GT that raced each other. As a young man I did ink drawings of the Ford GT in all the various configurations (Mark I, II, III, IV and J). I dug around and found them and I'm actually looking at them right now. I have been waiting for the day when Ford would again rule their class in Le Mans and I'm SO glad I have lived to see it ! I've been a Ford fan all of my life, so thanks Ford for the memories, and now for the brilliant future !

Wouldn’t have been possible without that perfect group, Henry Ford the II, Ken Miles, Carroll Shelby, Remington, and the whole design group at Ford for giving them the blank canvas. R.I.P. @@CaptainFALKEN I mean, this car, the new gt was designed and engineered in America, and uses all ford parts. Yeah, the gt40 used some British parts, but it wasn't until they added the 7.0 and made some areo enhancements that the gt40 really started to dominate.

Except they didn't. As you can see in the video, if it were not for the spin from the leading Ferrari at 4:45, they would have lost.
Also, Porsche did infact win the race outright in this year, with the 919.
As for the Porsche Motorsport 911's run in the GTE class, they were hit by reliability failures which took them out of the race.

Because they were near enough last throughout practice, but suddenly in qualifying and the race they were right up at the front... Looks suspicious to me, as if they were deliberately sandbagging in order to get a better BoP...
@@Sigma1235 More than likely, im sure someone was paid to allow cars not yet homologated to even race... Then to come in and perform that way. Its just bs, makes organizers look bad, races look bad and just comes off shady. Its not 1960's where the rule book is only 3 pages long, and exploitation/loopholes are easy to come by. Reminds me of how Daytona prototypes a few years ago were outright against the Chevy power plant and to some extent the Ford, while Porches were getting weight breaks, extra gears,fuel and extra rpm. BMW should have had huge BOP against it but never did, and they continued being at the front of every race. It made the series look like a joke, if the Gainsco and Suntrust Pontiac (CHEVY) teams and Krohn Ford hadnt worked so hard it would have been BMW winning everything and Porche chasing 2nd/3rd positions race after race.
@@Sigma1235 The GT still had 10 KG of ballast added and less power than it did during practice, and the Astons and Corvettes received increased power, yet the GT was still faster than them.

What a magnificent car that Mark 3 Ford GT is, stunning
Mk2*. The original car is called the GT40 which has 4 generations (Mk1, Mk2, Mk3 and Mk4). The Ford GT is its successor (and modern tribute) and 2 generations of it had/has been produced (the 1st one from 2005 to 2006 and the 2nd-gen since 2016).

Toyota is still a manufacturer today because of trucks like the Tacoma, Tundra and 4Runner, not cars. Never cars. Most definitely not sportscars. 2000GT nobody has or talks about, FT-1 never made it, nobody cared about the Supra until the MK.IV and it didn't even get popular worldwide until the early 2000s, not to mention it was just an underpowered one up from the Celica made to compete with the pathetic C4 Corvette

I have the 3.5l F150, and I love it. I can pull three dirt bikes, full fuel, fully load camper...big one...over every pass on I-70 in CO, at any speed I want. 75mph+ at any time up any one of the passes.

Carrol Shelby + Ken Miles might be the greatest car makers ever, the Ford gt is made with full off calculations and considerations of speed, velocity, aero dynamics, breaks reliability, how much pressure the transmission can handle, and others. That's why Ford GT is such a huge success and no one can pulled it off like they did

In 1990 I traded my Toyota pickup truck for a Ford F-150. The Ford truck seemed to be so much stronger and rode so smoothly. A week later my older brother showed me his new Nissan Frontier pick up and told me that I'd made a mistake, and he'd give me a ride home from the junk yard after I drop of my Ford. I still own my F-150, I taught my two kids and my son in law to drive a standard in it, it still runs (300-6 injected), a little rusty. I figure that I've been shaving with my brother's Frontier for about twenty years now, 'Merica!

In 1966. Ford won in an outstanding victory at Le Mans finishing 1,2,3. They would go on to win again in 67’, 68’ and 69’.

I'm actually crying when Ford GT and Ferrari 588 GTE is battling to get the lead. This reminds me of the old race 1966 Le Man's when Ford GT40 MKII and Ferrari 330 P3 are battling to get lead. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY NICE! Now I'm waiting for Ford v Ferrari movie

They didn't won the "race" they only won in their class, they finished 18th in the overall race
