The website said that she promised never to write love songs but made an exception for this one because she never used the word "love" in it. Personally I think she did well, because if I get married, this song is playing instead of that cheesy "here comes the bride" stuff =P And I think we all want to find out who Eric is.
Well, there's one Eric that we've got a definitive answer on. He was her first webmaster (still is I think) and the answer on him is that he isn't the one.
I'm surprised I got close...I can't be sure but there's points where the A sounds a bit like it has a C# in the bass but it's tough to pin down. In particular when I hit the bridge or that outro the progression changes totally. Anyway :) thanks for the info on the book, I really gotta pick a copy up, so few of this artists songs are tabbed online for some reason. :(
Piano transcriptions to guitar always seem to have "over" chords, F#/D in particular for some reason. I went over the song and the progression I kept coming up with was largely variations on A and E...something like A, E, F#m, D, Dsus2 with a slight variation in arrangement for the chorus (the F#m sounds like it kicks back to the E and then an elongated D, Dsus2 line). I'm probably way over-simplifying it, but if I add a lot of flourishes on the A and F#m and pick arpeggio sounds close :)
Man this song is so beautiful. And it's hard to tell who 'Eric' is, if that is his real name because if you look, a lot of guys who help her out with songs and stuff are named Eric xD
@porcupine179 Does it carry transcriptions? I CAN play keyed instruments but almost exclusively I play my acoustic guitar. If I could figure out what chords she's playing I can "fake" my way through flourishing it. I know my old Tori Amos sheet-music book carried chords over the bars of music. I'm finding it hard to figure out the progression through the higher end. Killer song, I can just find nothing on tab sites, I'd hate to buy the book and have to transcribe every note
Vienna...Cynthia..either one very good song ^.^ people often confused rich by famous so yea..or newly fames people get spoiled and change..I hope Vienna gets a bit more famous but not so famous that she and her music would change
Unless someone can prove a copyright issue like stolen lyrics, then I'd say either it's a coincidence (Vienna -has- known a lot of people named Eric) or it's a subtle homage.

All I can say that I hope it's not my b/f Eric lol (though if he left me for Vienna, i'd TOTALLY understand lol)

I've seen her - about 6 months ago with Jenny Owen Youngs - both are AWESOME live - I like Vienna much better with her trio vs. solo though.
