      We always end up doing way more than we expect 😂 it’s exhausting only having two days a week to cram in as much bus as possible!

      @@AdventureTrudge it’s impressive because Adam and I have our bus in our backyard and I feel like we’re working at the same pace LOL

      They are crushing it!! So jealous haha right now we are in this weird spot where we don't want to move forward with the subfloor or anything until we know our bus is 100% leak free but we are still waiting on some supplies to arrive before we can get our maxxair fans installed and test everything for leaks. So until we do that we've been twiddling our thumbs for the last few weeks it seems.

    Don't forget to add something on the sides of the panels to prevent the wind from going under the panels and lifting them up, going through the bolts or screws.

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep! We know they are very secure, but it is still my worst fear to have a panel come flying off mid-journey

    This has been a very helpful video guys! My wife and I have started attaching our angle irons on our bus roof and are hoping to mount the panels next week! Question for you, when you connected the panels, do you recommend attaching the wires to the bus roof so they don't bounce around or is that not necessary? Thank you :D

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We used cable ties to attach the cables to the angle iron as much as possible and haven’t had any issues 😊 good luck!!

  • @betsyanderson2182
    @betsyanderson2182 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you able to tilt them, or is that for another day?

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are *technically* tiltable if someone holds them up! We still need to add the legs that they will lean on when tilted

    why did you guys choose to go with 200w panels? why not fewer larger panels?

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I drew up a couple different configurations using different sizes and the size of the 200W worked best with the roof layout we wanted! I also think they were on sale at the time ☺️

    Awesome! Love the geek-break too!
    ...I think i would want some kind of fairing (or is it faring? I'm an EE, so you're lucky I speak intelligible English) in the front to deflect headway-wind?

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes we definitely want to add something to deflect wind! We weren’t too worried about driving on back roads but will probably install something before we take her out at highway speeds.

    Really cool way of putting the panels on the skoolie. Thanks for sharing with us. Also I never new a video can use the word nuts so much. We can all most turn it into a drinking game! just joking great vid and thanks for making it. It is not easy making the videos that is for sure. rock on. I just subbed looking forward to more good content.

      I don't have a list of all the hardware but this is the angle iron we used - www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-1-1-2-in-x-96-in-Zinc-Plated-Slotted-Angle-800117/204325588 and I've linked our amazon storefront where we've listed a lot of the products used in our build in the description :)

    How many watts each of your solar panels? Just curious because "it's massive" and I like it!!! Take care always for the both of you and stay safe ❤️

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      We have 6 200W panels for a total of 1200W. Hopefully it will be more than enough for up to 2 weeks off grid! We are planning to do a video of a full break down of our solar system once we finish ☺️

    • @joydiaz3052
      @joydiaz3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdventureTrudge That's really big!!! In fact, if my calculations are exact, you can install a split type A.C. on it. Maybe a 1/4 horsepower of A.C. would be enough on your bus.

    • @AdventureTrudge
      @AdventureTrudge  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joydiaz3052 we’ve looked into installing a mini split! We might wait and add one in later but it would definitely be a pretty great luxury to have if we have enough power

    • @joydiaz3052
      @joydiaz3052 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@AdventureTrudge Yeah that's right. I'm not a electrician but seeing how to install electric lay-out, it's the charger controller and the batteries are the main factor. " The bigger solar watts you have, the more batteries you will need" specially if you wanted to have a 2 weeks off grid with a split type A.C. That's only my opinion. I hope that I'm correct hahaha 😂😂
