    You are kinda brave pointing out problems with a Toyota product!
    Scotty Kilmer and his Toyota/Lexus worshipping minions will probably point out that their Toyota/Lexus has gone a million miles with just a occasional oil change and windshield washer fluid top up.

    • @MicahMuzio
      @MicahMuzio  2 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Yeah, the comment section is about to get lively. 😬 The truth is, Toyotas can be generally reliable AND also be subject to recalls and other issues. I know the internet thrives on rigid labeling (good thing / bad thing) but reality is usually more complicated and nuanced.

      Toyota products have a problem with its owners, most owners are the problem not all of them tho, people please maintain your vehicles whenever it needs it please make sure it gets it. As a mechanic for toyota I get too many 60k+ miles on it and then owners start neglecting maintence because its expensive then say it doesn't need it, then come back for the same problem as a complain next week or next service.

      Great comment and yes indeed, Scotty does love Toyotas and he quite frequently shares his frustrations with several other auto makers. :-) I've observed that Scotty is big on proper maintenance for all vehicles including Toyotas and he often points out issues with various Toyota models. BTW - I've never owned a Toyota and I'm really interested in the new Maverick for my next vehicle. Also, from watching several auto related YT channels, it appears that Toyotas have their share of issues but they seem quicker to address issues than other auto makers. Just an observation.

      I took my 20 ford Ranger in for a oil change at Ford dealership. Not complicated right? So I get home and I see oil leaking. I take it back, sit there for 3 hours...and they say "nothing is leaking". So I called the manger and I said put the GD thing on a lift. They did and i SHOWED them the leaking oil. I was f'ing pissed. a rock could have seen the leak.

    "Can't replicate the problem", is the motto of dealerships that only care about making sales. I'd love to see the day when the manufacturers keep the dealerships accountable for good service.
    Edit: I've had a similar visual problem with an aftermarket backup cam, and it was partly because it was faulty, replaced just the camera and now it's fine. I'm not sure why Ford just doesn't go ahead and replace it, but maybe it's because they don't get to hear about it from the dealerships who "can't replicate the problem" :)

    • @kenhoward3512

      "We couldn't replicate the problem, there's nothing we can do," "It's within factory specs, there's nothing we can do," "They all do that, there's nothing we can do," and on and on. I have yet to experience a dealership of any brand that doesn't choose a reason from their list of excuses to avoid filling a precious service bay with less-profitable warranty work. Manufacturers may provide warranties, but it's the independent dealer who *repairs* cars - and *he* is the manufacturer's customer, not the car buyer.

    • @PavelIsp
      @PavelIsp 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@kenhoward3512 Right, makes perfect sense, now I can see where the disconnect is. I guess that would also keep the manufacturers focused on manufacturing and not dealing with direct customers. I wonder if there'll be any kind of reform, since it feels very antiquated. I know there's already drop services for used cars, but I'd be interesting to see if something will pop up for manufacturer -> ? -> consumer.

    • @K03sport
      @K03sport 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      ...right, it is a manufacturer warranty. The dealer does the "warranty" work, then submits the labor/parts invoice to the manufacturer for reimbursement. The dealer is taking a chance of not getting 100% of their time/money back from the manufacturer. The manufacturer is one business and the dealer is another business...

    I think it's nice that you pointed out the issues and fixes, as well as your dealership experiences, as I can relate. "Can't replicate the problem" is about as bad as firing the parts cannon at a vehicle in my book. I had a dealer fire the parts cannon at my truck (not a Bronco) not long after I got it. I took it to a different dealership after getting fed up with the previous one, and they did more diagnostic work to find the problem quickly. Just gotta pick dealers wisely I reckon
    But I digress, I'm glad you're putting these videos out. I myself want a Bronco at some point, and this helps me get insight about it. Keep it up with the videos!

    These dealership experiences are very common with Ford. They never look hard enough and I’ve been convinced that with some things they don’t even try to look at all. They collect the money from Ford for the warranty work either way. I sold my Ford recently and the service experience was one of the big reasons why. (Tried at 3 different dealers in my area) I’m really worried about the electrified vehicles from Ford and the service center’s ability to actually work on them. They’ve had 100+ years to perfect internal combustion and yet here we are with stupid little things that you have to go over and over and over to try to get fixed. Our Lexus dealership fixes everything the first time and gives us a loaner vehicle for everything we do. They do customer service right, which is rare these days with dealer service.

    From every review I’ve seen so far, the stock Bronco is just as capable off road as a Jeep, especially with a Sasquatch package, and that includes rock crawling even though it has IFS. But it’s more comfortable as a daily driver. And it’s probably more capable off road than a stock Defender. The Bronco is a winner!

      Definitely. After a windshield replacement I have a creaking noise coming from around were the glass meets the dash. Very, very annoying and oddly enough it gets much worse the colder it gets. Also worth mentioning that the windshield was replaced by the dealer at his cost because I drove the car of the lot with a crack. And ofcourse when the technician took my car out he couldn't hear anything. They asked me to drive around with him and finally he could hear it. I'm waiting for a response now on how they plan to fix it.

    The bronco is such a cool looking truck and I really want one but can’t bring myself to purchase another Ford. Last one I had, I bought new and had to get rid of it 4 years later due to massive electric problems (where car was shutting down while driving at any speed). It was of course out of warranty and dealer could not figure out the issue.
    I’ve since switched to Subaru and it has been the only brand I’ve no problems with, I can say that after owning a first gen crosstrek (2013) and 16 Outback (both new) with zero problems.
    I may bite on the bronco but I’ll want to wait for a few years.

See if there is a pattern of it occuring in congested areas or never occuring when away from other vehicles. (mine sometimes showqs what is on the cameras of other vehicles!)

    Hi guys, great video and beautiful family. I am considering in getting a bronco but i am a bit on the fence on getting the 4 cylinders with the 10 speed, here is some back ground, I had a mustang with the 2.3 engine and 6 speed gearbox, great car but eventually I traded it for a GT with manual gearbox. During a business trip I rented a mustang with the 2.3 and 10 speed gearbox, and I didn’t like the way the gearbox behaved and how the car drives as it felt like the gear box hesitated a lot and could not find a “happy place” while driving, maybe I was pushing the car too much, so here is my question, how do you compare the 10speed in the bronco when it is paired with the 4 cylinders vs. The 6 cylinders?

    • @protoroll
      @protoroll 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      So I don't have the engine that you are asking about, but I do have 2018 Mustang with the V8 and the 10 speed. After researching this one a lot to figure out the quirks with that transmission, a lot of it comes down to how Ford programmed it for fuel efficiency, especially in the normal driving mode. It can be very herky jerky in normal mode to try and optimize its shifts for the most MPG if you aren't confident with the gas peddle when asking for more get up and go.
      This changes once you put it in sport or track mode however. In those modes it's almost like a dual clutch in how it is ready to drop gears and really move. But with 10 gears and such short ratios between all of them, it can stutter a bit if you are light on the peddle. But the programming gets the intended effect because if you price out a Mustang GT with the 10 speed auto and the 6 speed manual, all other options being the same, the one with the 6 speed will have the gas guzzler tax applied, the 10 speed will not.
      I hope this helps you somewhat, but if you didn't like the hesitancy of the 10 speed you might just want to get the manual. GM uses the same transmission but their shift logic seems to make for a smoother driving experience than Ford's.

    Talking about "so incredibly easy" I had a Nissan in the 90's that started smelling like gas, I took it to the dealer and they told me the throttle body ($1000) had to be replaced, well I knew that car didn't have a throttle body it had individual injectors so I walked out. I was in a training program for work in Dallas, had no garage and no tools. I was going to trade it for a Honda, however popped the hood with it running saw where the gas was coming from and found a plastic injector seat had cracked. The part was $5.

    I think a lot of us have been trainned to believe that taking the car to the dealer is the best and only option to maintain vehicles properly. Cases like this prove that sometimes, where there are no other dealer options nearby, it might be better to find a mechanic with dedicated experience in the brand or niche. I drive a Hyundai, I can tell you that my experience with the brand in terms of service, recalls and maintenance have been very bad. The car is upwards of 170k miles without major issues, and some of that I think it is attributed to the fact that I corrected some of the minor problems myself by replacing part with non OEM products (brakes, shocks, struts, steering gasket). That was around 60k miles, no problems after that. My experience with Toyota service is different, but not great either. I have seen how service 'advisors' push unnecessary maintenance services to customers and also have experienced a couple of occassions where I felt not enough attention was given to the issue I reported. You are likely to encounter issues with any brand, vehicles are massed produced, it is normal to have discrepancies during the manufacturing process. What is important is how the company reacts to the issue to prevent it at the assembly line and to fix it for customers affected by it. That's where the dealership is at an advantage, getting that feedback first directly from the company. This might limit the number of options available for first year products, specially for the Bronco that can be considered an entirely new product.

    Would you two have considered Subaru Wilderness edition (either Forrester or Outback)? Better MPGs, and (probably) better reliability and resale value? Obviously you cannot get it in soft-top or with a removable roof, and it is less off-road worthy but you can use Subarus with a roof-top tent.

    That 2.3L 4-cylinder turbo engine has been around since model-year 2015 now, pretty much unchanged. I would think that if it had any major issues, they'd be pretty well-known by now. The only issue I'm aware of is the same issue all direct-injection engines have -- the intake valves get lots of carbon buildup. This, of course, can be mitigated with an oil catch-can in the PCV system.
    As far as the automatic 10-speed transmission is concerned, I'd imagine that if you change the fluid and filter -- ignoring Ford's advice that it has "lifetime" fluid -- it'll easily last 200.000 miles; maybe even 250,000. Automatic transmissions these days are pretty darn reliable.

    We've had strange problems with the backup camera on our 2013 ford edge since new. Our Ford dealer, the only car dealership in town, has driven themselves insane trying to figure it out because it is a problem they see in nearly all ford products. Their opinion is it is a combination of a poor quality camera and a the video cable that runs from the rear of the car to the front being kinked too tightly. They've done all sorts of experiments over the years on one of the owner's cars and discovered replacing the camera with a third party unit AND running new cables is the only guaranteed way to solve the problem.
    Ford dealers vary dramatically. Our town of 5k people only has a Ford dealer. They are excellent, even if they only have 3 mechanics. 20 miles aways gets me to 6 other Ford dealers of which one is considered okay while they others are utter garbage. The 'okay' one is a truck-only dealership.

    The 'not able to replicate' is such a copout when most of the cars are so smart these days that it shows up in the log as having failed once or several times. For example, if one of our IT hardware produces errors intermittently or we have a phone's recording of the problem, we still typically just replace the affected component anyway even if its not acting up right that moment. Probably just an excuse because even if they did want to service it, probably have parts shortages for two months or its a known issue and they don't know what to do.

    Wheel alignment on the other hand can be put out by a big bump in the road.
