    I'll just start by saying that this is a killer delay machine, regardless of manufacturer or look. It slays. The DD-200 is a twelve-mode, stereo, no nonsense affair that's built to last longer than you and me and it sounds amazing. That's all there is to know, really. Two things I have not demoed here (but may later) are full MIDI implementation and the Expression control, but they're both icing on an already amazing cake. If it's a new delay pedal you seek, you would do well to consider the Boss DD-200. /

    I work for Roland and this video is what I would show dealers. It's a fantastic demo that's about the pedal, not the player. Gives a great idea of its sound and I like how you highlight what the parameter knob does. The rest of the features can be read online, but mostly we want to hear it. Great job!

      Hi Frank - it seems like you are the Product expert? Got one question. I read about the option to use the Loopfunction and the delay in the same time. Does it mean you can use the looper in conjunction with a delay mode (sending the Looper into a delay) or does it running separately - Having a loop and a individual delay?

      Frank Martin Hi Frank... I don’t understand what Boss was thinking with the design of the Ducking delay. That’s my normal go-to sound and this is nothing like what I need from Ducking. It sounds like you can only have a ramp into the repeats no matter where the Param knob is set? I’d want an instant kick into the delay the moment I stop playing... with this implementation there’s way too much dead air before it kicks in. Is there something I’m missing here?

      @@BrettKingman I love my old DD-20 but it's not the quietest pedal around. Reviewers always omit the noise issue - the reason pedals mostly went out of style in the late 70s and early 80s. They came back in and they would advertise low noise. Now the market is flooded with shamefully hissy delays like the GFI System Orca. What about this pedal? VERY IMPORTANT.

    Nicely done, exactly what a demo should be. No conversation and sales pitch, just a very straight forward walk through various settings on the device to get an idea of what this actually sounds like. As for the delay engine, the BOSS DD-200 does sound good, just the sort of platform I've been looking for. Many thanks for posting.

    I’ve been on a delay quest for years, buying and selling to find the right one for me. I’ve owned in the past 18 months; nemesis, echo system, free the tone future factory, timeline and now this. Honestly, this is my favourite one I’ve used for the price, sound and immediacy. You’ve done a great job showing it here. It’s a killer pedal.

    Love this video, I’ve been looking out for demos of this pedal and this is the first one I’ve found. Planning to get this pedal on day one, it fits the bill perfectly for a multi-purpose delay for a small board I’m assembling. Tera Echo seems to be the hidden gem here. Shimmer I can do without, but Boss shines as always in the Digital, Analog and Tape realms. Drum is a nice surprise also, it’ll let me leave my Catalinbread Echorec at home. Boss seem to have done a great job here, can’t wait to try this out for myself.

    I've recently got one - it's absolutely fantastic. One thing is that it's worth getting an external foot control pedal - I use it to 'hold' the echo (e.g. you can hold a chord whilst continuing to play over it) it's actually keyboard sustain pedal but feels so natural to use with the DD-200

    So then, for Tera Echo, _Param_ is essentially the _S-Time_ knob, and Feedback, Tone and E Level are all their one-to-one equivalents as on the TE-2?
    I guess what I'm asking is, how complete/faithful is the Tera Echo implementation in the DD-200 compared to the original TE-2?

    I have seen may videos about DD200 and DD500 and nobody talks about changing delays or changing presets, I want to know what happen if you play with one nice ambient shimmering sweet long delay and you need to change to another patch or presser or change your memory bank to another one either pressing the switch or via MIDI. Does your last ambient shimmering sweet long delay still there until vanish with the delay decay and mix your sound with the new patch, or that delay cuts abruptly off and is replaced with the new delay??
    I guess it is called carryover.

    Great sounds -- that tera was quite impressive! -- and I like the fact that everything is easily accessed without diving into digital menus. When you're on stage and the inspiration strikes, you don't want to be buried in your pedalboard. You want to grab the sound you're looking for and start playing. I also think that in real life, 4 presets is a sufficient number. I've used a DD7 for years and all I'm wishing for is 2 presets. So 4 would be great. I figure that if you really need a different delay preset for every single song, maybe you should put away the pedals and work on your playing.

    Sold. Didn't like the DD500 and the limited functionality of DD7, DD8 but for this I'm going straight away, this and RV6.

    Good sounds, but pretty disappointed in the Ducking. Maybe there are more parameters to tweak, but it sounded like the transition between ducked and delay was just too abrupt. I'm a Ducking delay on all the time kinda guy, and from what I heard, this just won't do. The TC Flashback has the best ducking feature for my purposes, but this Boss has more fun sounds. But without a great Duck, it's not going to find a home on my board.

      Though I just got a DD-200, I would still very much appreciate having a DD-500! I keep wondering if these boxes might drive down prices for the 500 series, what do you think? I've seen prices for the DD-7 steadily slope downward this past year. The lack of editor software for this 200 series is a let down, I agree with you about the functionality being greater with the 500's. Cheers!

      @thefruitfarmer3000 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MeatyController The DD-200 is smaller, quicker to get results and less to go wrong. The prices should go down for the 200 series when they are not the latest thing any more and I suppose the 500 might get cheaper eventually. However, the low value of the UK pound is making all imports more expensive at the moment.:)

    Is it just me or just a few effects are really creating an stereo image? For example the pattern delay and tera echo really sounds like a wide stereo sound but most of them sounded more like dual mono to me.

    • @imaseeker100
      @imaseeker100 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      My question as well. The pedal must be emulating stereo? If you have one guitar cable plugged into your pedal chain you've got mono (not the disease).

    • @Javier-qk7ms
      @Javier-qk7ms 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@imaseeker100 Well, I am fine with one cable coming into a stereo pedal. Andy Timmons takes a single FX send from main amp into stereo pedals then into RX return of main and second amp. I am more interested on the actual delay repeats, the should be "distributed" among L/R rather than sending exactly the same repeats on each L/R. Mono Guitar with Stereo FX sounds is what I was really asking.

      @@Javier-qk7ms I have a left(mono) and right jack in both my Send and Returns on my Fender Rumble Studio 40 bass amp(4 jacks in total).I'm thinking of buying this pedal.. what way would I cable it up to get stereo (or dual Mono emulating stereo) from just this amp?...Do I plug one cable into the left send from my Amp to input on the pedal,then 2 cables from each of the outputs on pedals to left and right on the return on amp?(3 cables total).or do I have to put an extra cable coming from the right on my Amps send to the second input on the pedal?.(4 cables total)
      Ps:It's a digital modelling amp that has built in effects pedals like distortion and modulation etc..Most of the delays and all reverbs are in mono except a couple of stereo delay effects..this is why I want this and other pedals so I can get stereo reverb and delay etc for ambient bass tones etc..

    • @Javier-qk7ms
      @Javier-qk7ms 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@patrickr6505 I am not sure what people mean with "Dual Mono emulating Stereo". But for your amp I would first ask this: Does it already include some nice sounding stereo FX? If the answer is yes then I would use 2 Send cables to keep stereo sounds you like from the amp, I would dare calling it "Stereo Send". Otherwise I would only use a single cable from send (a mono send ?) into the stereo pedal then 2 cables back to return (stereo return?). For example maybe you like built in stereo modulation sounds but not the delays/reverbs, using 4 cables you send your "already stereo" sound into stereo pedal and have both combined.

    • @Javier-qk7ms
      @Javier-qk7ms 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think now I get what people mean dual mono emulating stereo, I think they mean spliting a mono signal. To me mono input > stereo pedal > stereo output is just another variation of a stereo rig, as I said think of Andy Timmons, I was inspired by his rig to use a single Preamp pedal into stereo pedals into a stereo power amp. I get the ping pongs, I get the stereo modulation, I like it. i just did not want to go thru the potential problems of using two individual amps, to me a single preamp into a stereo power amp made it so easy and avoided the frustration of problem solving along the way. And that stereo Rumble Studio 40 is gonna help avoid potential issues (ground loops, phase mismatch), I would only add for me the stereo sound is better when the speakers are apart from each other but that should sound nice anyway, and it woud also make it easy to have Wet-Dy with one send-return thru pedal for wet and the other send-return pair just a cable for dry. Edit: The key is that the pedal is really distributing the repetitions among left and rigth other wise it does not create the feel of space of stereo sound.

    Although you have a tone knob on the DD-200 it has a quite dark sound. Not as clear as other digital delays, unfortunatly. I have listened to various videos on TH-cam and it is the case with all of them! For me a big disadvantage.
