One of my favorite aspects of the fight, is Joshua telling us "That Clive choose to listen to pleas of the people." I find that it works themeatically with all the side quests in the game. The sidequests may be numerous and overwhelming, but doing them rewards the player with lots of exp, upgrades and special gear. So, just by listening to the problems of others and helping them, Clive got stronger as their hands raised him higher.
Most of the side quests of the game give you really underwhelming rewards. This is my favourite Final Fantasy, but let's not pretend something that's not true.
I love too how he did NOT need to match the Eikon that Ultima used, it would have made more sense for him not to at some points, but Clive just had to prove he was better than him lol
I also love the fact that, if I remember correctly, Clive refers to the Eikon itself, whereas Ultima just refers to the power each wields. Because to Ultima, the Eikons are just tools. Shiva, for example, is just an embodiment of Ice, a piece of his Mythos he wanted to build, nothing more. But Clive saw the Eikons as what they were, instead of just accumulations of power. They were extensions of the people who wielded them. Because Clive saw things as a human, instead of seeing things as a detached god, like Ultima did.
Even so it's "less of a complex game" like TOTK or BG3, this was my GOTY 2023. This final confrontation with it's song; The story, the ending and overall the whole experience made me cry at the end like no other game has. It's up there with my all time favorites wind waker and persona 5.
Ultima is one of the best antagonists of final fantasy. One of the only few who just make sense and in fact does not feel like he is crazy. If i would raise an ant colony, take a break and they suddenly start talking to me i would panic like him. And I as well would be surprised if they managed to outpower me. I would DEFINETELY not listen to an ant trying to do a partnership with me in any way. That is scary af!
Ff16 was my first ff game that I really enjoyed. I tried 6,7,9,10 and 15 but never really cared about the story. Something about 16 just resonated with me so well. The characters are so believable especially Ultima. I strongly believe this game success was due to tye games music complementing the story
What makes it even better is that it's obviously another rendition of Find the Flame and just like that song, it kicks in when Ultima uses his Limit Break, mirroring Clive accepting the truth although it's not about Ultima
This edit really captures the spirit of the game. I keep re-watching it and the memories of what I just experienced with this game make me emotional all over again. What an unforgettable experience it was. Phenomenal work. Thank you for a beautiful edit. Best wishes and God bless you.
Most themes we hear in the climax of a Final Fantasy game are, more or less, about the antagonist. What I like about Final Fantasy XVI's is that we do not hear a song about Ultima. We hear a song about humanity. All as One has the same tune as Find the Flame, which is about Clive accepting the truth and moving forward with his life. That's what Clive is doing for humanity in the climax. He knows this fight will not gurantee humanity a better world...but he knows this fight will give them a *chance* at one.
I like the fact that they use "feel" for his own power and the power of the one he loves, "hear" for the power of his mentor, and "fear not" for the enemies he fights against along his journey.
This is EASILY your best edit. Everything about this edit was just beautiful. I got chills at 3:26 Thank you for bringing justice to this fantastic finale of a song.
ok this is fire, my favorite track of the whole OST. it represents clive and his journey as a whole so well. such a perfect music to end this crazy game. thank you for the edit❤️
May I just say, with how emotional this song already is--your edit really brings out its entire feel. I love coming back to this particular edit of All As One regularly. Its a song that encompasses an entire journey of humanity and bonds made along the way in defiance of an uncaring god. This is the definitive edit for me especially with how you end it. Hopefully when the track gets officially released you can re-release this with the cleaner audio.
Clive''And yet you still cannot see you are no better than us we are one and the same ''. Ultima: “We are not the same!” “No man might stand beside me None!”
Thank you for uploading this. Masterfully cut. I just wish the music didn't have the dips for when they talk and stuff. It's so beautiful. I'm glad to finally know the lyrics too. It's so much more emotional after having done all the side quests and such, imagining everyone together.
I come back and back to this really great edited video. I hope there will be a follow up version once an actual soundfile of this song is available (without the volume sometimes lowering)
Spoilers for those who have yet to beat the game but did anyone notice what Ultima said in his little dialogue before the final fight. How he cared for Clive as his own mother SHOULD have. Not only does Ultima acknowledge how bad she SUCKS (we really need to crucify this woman), but that HE cared for Clive. Could he mean he nutured him from the shadows explaining his immense strength at such a young age? He certainly had every reason and capability to.
not really he only nurtured him so he can become a perfect vessel to being able to hold his power in order to cast Raise for his kind and remaking the world as he pleased while wiping humanity out
Tbf Ultima with Clive is just like Anabella with Joshua. They nurtured them only to exploit them, nothing more. If you check the inner thoughts on the Vivian’s lore system, you’ll find Ultima’s thoughts towards Joshua at the end are the same as Anabella’s inner thoughts towards Clive at the beginning. They consider only their “favourite child” while the other/s are deemed failures. They mirror each other. An abusive mother & an heartless creator. It’s not random that Anabella is chosen as a sort of Dark version of Jesus’ mother, Madonna Mary, to conceive her son (during her period on the Empire) as an Anti-Christ/Clive, pure manifestation of Ultima.
Something so cathartic about Ultima's Limit Break bringing you right back to Find the Flame. Once it played as Clive found the strength to have faith in himself, now it plays as his companions have utter faith in him to succeed. It's a beautiful way to reuse the song.
