Hearing the music from the first trailer as the boss theme for leviathan is so unbelievably satisfying as someone who waited for this game since that first trailer

The final quote in the DLC is literally a reference to the ending.

Yeah. Sigma and leviathan were brutal. Would have struggled with omega as well but some of those bits in the tower were just overpowered.
Surprisingly, I only died once on the rising tide, ff mode, too.

Leviathan has always been depicted as a creature of primordial wrath who doesnt normally from a bond with the insects who try to control its power.
It actually fits in the lore too. Bahamut is one of the strongest eikons in the game, and Dion awoke as an eikon as a baby as well

Hard to imagine, but I think Clive was trying to hold back as much as he could, only resorting to as much power as he needed to defeat and not kill Leviathan. He could NOT afford to go overboard with this one.
Not saying that Leviathan isn't insanely powerful of course! Clive also had a village to protect, so he also couldn't use too little power.
I believe the main goal here was to exhaust Leviathan to its utter limits while not harming Waljas.
I'm sorry but the bets are off the moment he used not one, but two hellfires on him

After being a Final Fantasy fan for 25 years, I have to say that this game exceeded my expectations. The final phase of this fight has me in tears because of the music. It was exceptionally beautiful.

If leviathan is this strong as a child, I can imagine how powerful he will be as an adult.
Eikons don't seem to change in power with age. The only thing that would change is walijas' control, but obviously, he never uses Leviathan after this fight.
When eikons go berserk (which can be seen with their eyes being yellow instead of blue) doesn't really matter who the dominant is, they're basically in full control, their dominant being in control would just mean they'd use their brain instead of instincts lol.
@@Belarhosbut it stands to reason that an Eikon is weaker when it’s out of control, just look at Ifrit when he fought Garuda and when he fought Typhon, Clive gaining control made him incredibly faster and more agile than before
@@sentientmustache8360 I'll be honest with you that segment was weird, cause while in gameplay ifrit is slower during that fight, during the cutscenes of that fight he's about as nimble as when clive controls him, maybe just not as good of a fighter cause he's just following instincts.
It's like obito in juubi form, he has better control on it, he can fire four tailed beast bomb at once!
Juubi with no vessel is already so powerful, however when someone took better control of its power, it will definitely be disaster!
If I had a nickel every time Ifrit beats the fuck out of a child who could transform into a giant monster, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice

Phase 2's theme is actually an orchestral version of his theme in FF14 "Through the Maelstrom", no matter what game he's producing Yoshi-P seemingly can't help but slip in a FF14 reference.
I mean soken also did the music for 16 so that also says something
I knew Soken was 100% gonna remake "Through the Maelstrom" for this fight, so I spent the entire fight trying to guess when it was gonna pop out.
Phase 2 had me hyped like a little child.
That little glimmer of "Into the Maelstrom" during phase 2 always gives me chills
This boss fight is a masterpiece
I find this whole fight amazing, along with the music. With Clive saying “I will not give up on you!”, it sent me goosebumps. That line alone shows just how far he is willing to go to save a life. I find it amazing at how Clive has used Ifrit mostly with either eliminating his enemies or grievously wounding them. This is the one time where he holds back just to make sure the baby is safe. Being able to control his own power, to show he is his own master.
Nice to see that the water manipulation is getting a bit of a glow-up in fiction. Always been pretty underrated.
As an FF14 player phase two music gave me a bit of a traumatic flashback 🤣🤣.
Can we talk about how they COOKED with this whole boss fight? I have never died so much to a god damn baby

The first thing Ifrit does is killing a child because he lost control and the last thing Ifrit does is saving one because he mastered his power.
So glad they brought the reveal trailer music back because i was so sad it wasnt in the base game
I really like FFXVI they try to bring back our Final Fantasy and they do amazing job one of the best FF so far the story make me shock i did no they will end like this such amazing story Clive is my most favourite main protagonist FF7 Rebirth is also very good remake they do amazing job again keeping doing it

I picked up on the Omega "escape" nod immediately, but I was so damn locked in during this fight I didnt even notice the "Through The Maelstrom" rendition until watching this video xD

Thanks a lot for sharing this! Hearing the "Awakening" trailer music in all its glory is amazing, and was the best opportunity to close the chapter of FFXVI. I also like the easter egg/reference to "Blinding Indigo" during Phase 2.
I died a lot of times while fighting Leviathan _(mostly during the DPS check.. It was a nightmare until I found out that Spitflare is our best friend here)_ , but overall it was quite an EIKONIC fight :).
Phase 3 should've been the final boss theme, but I guess it technically is now

I needed like 7 or 8 trys on FF Mode. Not because of the DPS Check (did it on my 2try) but the attack maelstorm. Still dont know how to dodge it completely.

Just use brimstone in midair until the spheres appear. That's what most people do.

@red-asassin9817 It's actually simple. When the spiral starts glowing, jump in any direction and dash with wildfire.

I swear this is the fight that cemented in my mind that this game NEEDS a "retry from checkpoint" option. Even on action mode, the dps check for the fight is absurd enough that if you screw up early on you know you're already dead and just want to die to restart, but it feels like he's intentionally not hitting you very often in the DPS phase.
Because he doesn't need to. You already have no room for error as it is.

Not sure if you're still stuck on it, but you just have to do as much damage as fast as possible. Try getting the perfect charge brimstone and use spitflare. You'll also want to try and get precision dodge attacks off. do lots of burst funishes too. This bit is pretty hard, and if your still stuck then i hope this helps.
Use Spitflare as soon as the shield goes up, then dash over to him and use Spitflare and fully charged Brimstone as soon as you get them. Use normal attacks with Magic Burst in between. Repeat every time he moves and you should barely break his shield in time. The time limit is pretty tight so you really do have to go all out here. Good luck.

Use your abilities immediately, slide to the dome and do a burst after each combo, while avoiding the attacks

To be honest I was disappointed there wasn’t a new ending. It would’ve been cool with all the eikons together Clive would have survived and be with Jill but I guess this is still cool.
