I love Saxon, always have and never miss the opportunity to see them on stage. I've been fortunate enough to catch every line up live including Oliver / Dawson Saxon. However, they have plenty of albums that can be put into the box marked eminently unavoidable particularly in their late 1980's to mid 1990's phase. They appear to have come into their own in the 2000's and improve with age. I was fortunate enough to see them at York last year and they turned in a phenomenal set. Biff is now resident in North Yorkshire which would be a great location to hold a Saxon festival!
Interesting. Just started to buy Saxon (at the grand old age of 60) with their latest album. I'd put that in the top two tiers. Of the six others that I have, all are in your top three tiers. I'd agree that Carte Diem is the best of the seven I have. Broadly speaking, I'm buying them in reverse order... but with some gaps! Haven't got to the Big Three as yet! Saving them til last.
Mixed: "Innocence Is No Ecxuse" ? Man what you talking about? "Devil rides out" and "Broken Herous" are Saxon's BEST written and sound songs ever! "Destiny" Ok. The song S.O.S. is Saxon's best written song! Oh, but about tastes we can not arguments !
