    I would recommend the audio book for The Night Circus. Jim Dale does such a beautiful job narrating.

    Another really, really good middle grade series is Keeper of the Lost Cities. I don't know if you have read it, but I just finished up reading it and it is so good. If you want a new fantasy middle grade to read, this would be my first recommendation.

    The Rainwild Chronicles read so quickly - they’re different than the other Elderlings instalments but still so great in their own right. I need to finish up Wheel of Time and Stormlight this year. I really want to read more Juliet Marillier too.

    • @vaughnroycroft999
      @vaughnroycroft999 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree--Rainwild is different, but still so wonderful and fun (and fast). Also, I was surprised to find it's not favored by some. I'm a big fan of Marillier's Sevenwaters stuff, and I'm currently reading Warrior Bards and loving it, fwiw.

    Circe is actually my favorite Madeline Miller, I really hope you enjoy it. Some of the books I'm looking to get to are On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous, Piranesi, and then some MASSIVE fantasy series: Stormlight, Green Bone, Liveship Traders, and the First Law Trilogy. Yes, I'm being ambitious, haha, but I've been watching SO many fantasy booktubers lately and these are like THE top series!!

    I really hope you will enjoy Beartown! I'm rereading the series now before reading the last one that came out in Sweden in October (and will be released in the US next year.) Just don't expect it to be as funny as "Ove" cause it has a much darker tone that will probaby make you cry. I'm so impressed by how he can master such dark and importent topics. He's a master with words. #proudswede

    • @conork7726

      I didn't realize it was a trilogy. Beartown was one of the best books I read this year and I'll be reading Us Against You soon

    • @malinankardal2145
      @malinankardal2145 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@conork7726 it was always meant to be a trilogy but Fredrik got a burn out after all the fame and touring after de first 2 books. After the pause/sick leave he wrote "anxious people" in the meantime which is a much lighter book before he could finish "The winners". It's supposed to be as good as the others when reading the swedish reviews.

Regan in a previous vid you mentioned that you wanted to read Harrow The Ninth next fall, and ofc you read it whenever you want to, but I just wanted to say that HTN is a very confusing book and reading it much later after GTN may make it even a harder to read since you forget a lot. Also the third book in the series is coming next fall, so I just wanted let you know !! Have a lovely new years

    I'm most of the way through These Violent Delights and I LOVE IT it's so good. I was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype but I think it really does. I bought a signed copy of the second one from Barnes & Noble a few weeks ago so I can jump right in once I finish the first one! I also really liked The Night Circus. The writing is BEAUTIFUL but I thought the story itself was kind of boring in spots. Circe is fantastic as well. I liked it better than Song of Achilles but they're both amazing.

    "Welcome to the “The Goblet of the Truth”!
    To the majority of humanity on planet Earth it is hardly known, that the true prophets who walked the Earth, originated solely from the Nokodemion lineage.
    It was this seven-fold lineage of true prophets who brought forth the “Teaching of the prophets”, that is to say, the teaching of the Truth, the teaching of the Spirit and the teaching of Life.
    In the early days, this unique teaching was also known as the “Goblet of the Truth”.
    Unfortunately, the human beings of Earth misunderstood the teaching, endlessly falsified it and misused it for religious purposes.
    It was first thanks to the seventh prophet of the Nokodemion lineage, “Billy” Eduard Albert Meier, that we now here on Earth finally have a clean true version of these unique teachings.
    The Goblet of truth is without any doubt “Billy” Eduard Albert Meier’s greatest work and outstanding effort on bringing Earth mankind the NON-corrupted, NON-manipulated, NON-religious teaching of truth, teaching of spirit and teaching of life.
    The book contains the teachings of all the seven prophets, namely:
    1.Henoch (Enoch) (3 February 9308 BCE to 1 January 8942 BCE).
    2. Elia (Elijah) (5 February 891 BCE to 4 June 780 BCE).
    3. Jesaja (Isaiah) (7 February 772 BCE to 5 May 690 BCE).
    4. Jeremia (Jeremiah) (9 February 662 BCE to 3 September 580 BCE).
    5. Jmmanuel (Immanuel) (3 February 02 BCE to 9 May 111 CE).
    6. Mohammed (19 February 571 CE to 8 June 632 CE).
    7. “Billy” Eduard Albert Meier, BEAM (February 3, 1937)
    As from an inexhaustible wellspring, vast knowledge emanates from the Goblet of the Truth, from which great wisdom comes forth, from which, in turn, love, peace, freedom and harmony result, as well as an integration of a beneficial balance, joyfulness and happiness.
    We human beings should understand the necessity of leaving the false teachings of all religions behind us and turn to the correct way of thinking and living, which involves taking responsibility for one’s own thoughts and actions, because everything is built on the law of cause and effect, interaction, interdependence, etc.
    In time, more and more people will turn to the truth, and this book will be one of the main factors for the spreading of this very truth."

  • @Tharia1981
    @Tharia1981 ปีที่แล้ว

    I love your videos. You make me want to read and I have increased my TBR because of you 😁🤣
    I wanted to say:
    - I love A man called Ov
    - I also loved the Grandmother book by Backman
    - Beartown is on the TBR, I bought all his books
    - I loved The Midnight Library and I am a little sad you didn't like it. It reminded me of Being Erica, the TV show
    - on the other side, I hate (maybe a strong word, but it took me 2 month to finish a book) Robin Hobb. I read 2 trilogies about Fitz and the Fool and I refuse to read the last 3. I can't stand all the bad stuff that happens to the main character. Nobody stands up for him, everybody uses him. That is not ok. BUT! My friend did love this series, she read all 9 books and for her birthday I bought her the Ship and the Dragon books.
    As you said you would never read A little life, because it is depressing, I can't understand why you love Robin Hobb. She is more than depressing, she is enraging 🤷🏼‍♀️
    Anyway, mostly I just love your videos and I like watching them and adding books to my TBR pile, even horror books, from that October video 🤣 and I don't like Horror, I get nightmares 🤣
    I forgot: please stop apologizing for your opinion. It is your opinion and you are allowed to have one. Of course it is "your opinion" that a book is good or bad. Nobody can say a book is good or bad. You can just say if you like it or not. I mean there are classics that are so boring, so I will say I don't like them, not that they are not good. So if someone gets "offended" (because people love to do that now) because of an opinion, it is not your problem. It is your right to have an opinion 🤗. I hope you understand what I mean.

    I had to laugh when you said you were planning to read "The Night Circus," because I went to the bookstore yesterday to exchange my new copy for two other books you recently recommended :) I was more drawn to the Synopsis of "Starless Sea," but the bookstore didn't have it, so I settled for "The Night Circus," which I wasn't as excited about due to the circus setting. Amazon's reviews of "Starless Sea" weren't as glowing as those for "The Night Circus," but, given your comments maybe I should give both a try eventually.

    The Night Circus was very whimsical and the description of the setting really comes off the page, but the plot was disappointing and I felt like all the details and description were surely building towards something, but by the end I felt like it was like describing a weird dream you had… a lot of details leading to really nothing in the end.

    Everyone says that These Violent Delights is a retelling. In my opinion it’s not. It does play off the original but I feel like it misses a lot of major points in the original. Just my opinion though. I still enjoyed the book just wasn’t what I was expecting.

    One book I definitely want to read in 2022 is The Five!

    I also need to start the Rain Wild Chronicles! I hope I'll finish the Realm of the Elderlings this year. Circe is great, I hope you'll love that one! If you want the same vibe but in Norse myth retellings, I think you'll like the Witch's Heart a lot!
    Malice (and the FATF in general) didn't work for me. The writing style is... Not good 😅 But I know a lot of people love it so I hope you will as well!

    I want to get caught up on the Valdemar Chronicles and the Shadowhunter Chronicles, and finish the Trials of Apollo. And of course, always queer romances thrown in throughout my 2022 reading. Also a few nonfiction books on Japan (I am a Japan nerd).

    I am excited to see what you think of the Night Circus. It was one of my favorite books I read last year. I think if you love the STarless Sea, you will enjoy the Night Circus.

    I am sooo surprised you haven't read The Night Circus! I did it enjoy it. I'm glad I read it. But, I can't say it was an absolute favorite, unfortunately. I think it had so much potential and there were parts I loved, but it just didn't come together. But, I certainly hope you love it!
