After my recent USA trip and having the 55 TFSI version of this driven for more than over 2000km I can truly say that this thing has given my the smoothest ride I've ever had! Such an amazing car and its so spacious as you said! Just wait until they drop in price so it's that expensive.
@@chasingcars The only con is that it is a Gas guzzler. The 50 TDI is quick and nimble as well. I've also driven the latest SQ7 TDI at my local dealer. This thing is just ridiculously quick for what it is! Definitely a magnificent car!
I think the pre-facelift versions of this look so much better. Better front grill, less busy tail (no chrome horizontal trim), and REAL exhaust tips! Interior functions better also with physical climate control buttons.
I really like this guy. Good work. Please give us reaction/B-roll shots when he presses the drop seat button. I would've loved to see a full shot of the boot space.
Thanks, Mark. Hoping to get a GLE review done soon. Much harder to get M-B vehicles than Audi or BMW, hence the relatively low mix of their content. We wish it was a bit easier!
For my use - running around town and a few country trips per year - the 55 TFSI would suit better. For people that do a lot of towing, the 50 TDI would be ideal. They're both rated the same for towing but the diesel has more low-end torque.
There's a massive problem with very, very hot exhaust gases from the new methods of emissions treatment being used near the exit points. I have two ideas on this. The first is that we are in an adjustment period, the manufacturers will realise that buyers want real pipes, and so new, more heat-resistant methods will be used in future for real pipes. The second idea is that we're about to lose pipes for good as manufacturers move to electrify greater shares of their range. Hard to say what will happen.
It’s an in-betweener, but ultimately it’s more similar to the X7 and GLS because the Q7’s third row can seat a six foot adult in reasonable comfort, as this video demonstrates. The GLE and X5 third rows are child only zones.
Great review Tom of a much better looking car however if I needed seven seats I’d go the Mercedes GLS I think 🤔 it looks better but then my budget would prefer an old Peugeot 504/505 or Volvo 265 estate although just showing my age lol
If that’s not a consideration buying an Audi that isn’t an S or RS, it really should be. The mainstream cars really aren’t stiff enough to support 22” wheels without causing rattles and creaks in the cabin. And the ride isn’t up to scratch if you make a decision to go with 22s. Sorry!
Fair point that I will take on board. Realistically, though, the onus is very much on Genesis to show why buyers thinking about a German luxury car should ditch those plans. I am greatly looking forward to driving the GV80!
Wow the exterior design looks like a step backwards compared to the current gen. Why does Audi keep putting those cheap-looking grills on their new cars nowadays. Ruined the Q8, and now this
Trying too hard on the front grill, looks like a Hyundai. Plasticky looking no longer sophisticated for an Audi. Paying for q7 but get the q5 taillight?
Another well presented review, good job Tom and CC team! Stay safe everyone!
Thanks, Ted! Hope you are keeping well.

Would be good if we got the 55 TFSI option here too!

That horrendous turbo lag in these VW V6 diesels is the killer for me. Good review, thanks.
No problem, thanks for watching.
Great, thorough review. Looking forward to trying this one too.

Thanks! Will keep that in mind for the next seven seater we do.
Great Video Review. A great looking Large Family SUV
Excellent review. Don’t worry too much about the screens. I use the voice system for things like SatNav and climate control on the move.
Awesome video, nice description and touches up the points that generally a car consumer would like to know...
Glad you liked the video and found it helpful.
the new interior looks clean and nice but I have the same opinion love physical buttons for ac and infotainment. great review as usual!
Thanks, Ali!
Great review. I've been waiting for this car to launch in Aus. Will you be doing a Mercedes GLE review anytime soon?
Thanks, Mark. Hoping to get a GLE review done soon. Much harder to get M-B vehicles than Audi or BMW, hence the relatively low mix of their content. We wish it was a bit easier!
This was a long due to come here in Australia.
First video review of Q7 from here too
It isn’t too far behind Europe, which is good. And yeah, we worked hard to get this one out! Thanks for watching!
Sorry but I prefer physical dials for air con control
Same.
Great review and great presenter 👍
Thank you, Graeme!
Would you still prefer the 55TFSI instead of 50TDI as you mentioned in other drive test ?

First in with the reviews too, good job! Does this have fake a exhaust at the back now?
Thanks! Yep - from what I can see there’s a big pipe on the left side pointing at the ground. Happy to be corrected if I’m wrong.
@@chasingcars Looks like they went from semi fake to completely fake :(

@@chasingcars I think its cost cutting as most buyers dont care where the exhausts are. Sadly the latter is most likely.
Yeah. Hard to say. With decisions being made by focus group you'd think it would be the latter. Perhaps we will be surprised. I hope so.
cool, nice video ini :))
Interesting review Tom, I thought the v6 diesels 50 tdi and 45 tdi were twin turbo not single turbo? Are you absolutely sure?
Completely sure.
4:05 I want that Audi branded hand sanitizer
A collector’s item for sure
Not sure why you compare the Q7 with X7 and GLS. I thought the Q7's direct competition would be the X5 and the GLE.
It’s an in-betweener, but ultimately it’s more similar to the X7 and GLS because the Q7’s third row can seat a six foot adult in reasonable comfort, as this video demonstrates. The GLE and X5 third rows are child only zones.
I'm appareantly one of the few people that thinks the update is a step forward. The previous one had so many bland flat surfaces.
I agree with that view
I thought we will be getting a 3.0 L turbo petrol engine as well?
That's the plan, but it hasn't been confirmed for arrival yet date-wise.
@Chris Baker
How is it did you get yet. I have one on order.

Wish Volvo still offered the rear facing third row in the V90!
@@chasingcars Merc is still 4 cylinder I believe
SQ7 has a twin turbo diesel?
Yep
Na got to fill that arch 22” all the way.
At the detriment of comfort? No thanks.

🤣 comfort. You be old.

Well my 2018 Q7 runs perfectly fine on 22”S and doesn’t look like a yawning hippo.
On the front end it looks more like the Q3.
True.
1957...yes, indeed.
Very retro, those ashtrays!
Piano black overload, hopefully they are providing plenty of cleaning wipes? 🤣
Would you believe there are wipes included
Chasing Cars prestige is prestige 🤣
The fake exhaust system looks very bad, and it is also available at VW, Seat, Skoda !!!
Hard to fit real pipes these days as they run so hot with all the necessary emissions treatments. Not excusing it, but explaining it.
Sorry Audi; after lookin new Genesis GV80 I think for this price point & design details Q7 is not worth to buy..😭
With full of sadness..
The GV80 will be a very interesting car - but will it attract buyers? The G70 has been a non starter in Australia...
@@chasingcars The possibilities are their in my point of view; who knows have people like me...

It’s a subjective thing, but I actually prefer the update. I thought the previous iteration was just a bit too plain for its size.
Up close the grill looks anything but cheap. There is a serious amount of thick metal rather than the cheap plastics found in other vehicles.
Trying too hard on the front grill, looks like a Hyundai. Plasticky looking no longer sophisticated for an Audi. Paying for q7 but get the q5 taillight?
Q5 tail lights are completely different...
Design is subjective, understandable that this car won't be for everybody.
