My husband did security for them at a hotel back in the early 90's. Ended up eating a burger and smoking a joint with Eddie in his room at like 3:00 am. Said he was just about the nicest guy he ever met. Said the whole band was just super cool. They were addressing him as "Sir" and everything was genuine "Please" and "Thank You"...Genuinely a class bunch of guys. Was the best crew my husband ever worked with by far...

Saw them in 1992 at second Lollapalooza with Soundgarden and other bands, easily one of the best concerts ive ever seen...on their first song they literally caused a flood of people to crash down a huge hill embankment down into the amphitheater like a giant human wave.

Pearl Jam are still touring and are about to announce their North America tour. Even though it's 30 years later, I highly recommend going and if you can do all the events like pre-parties. We Pearl Jam fans are a family and if you let them will welcome you with open arms. I know people who might not be alive today without this community. I have certainly benefitted from it and know that when shit hits the fan, that family will help out. Apart from that they still give everything they've got and no two shows are the same (they make up their set list just before the show) and it's always unbelievable when the entire crowd sings along to hits like this one, Black, Release, Daughter and many more. I know the tickets aren't cheap but this band is so bloody worth it.

I was only 6 years old at the height of their popularity, and I grew up around other music so i just recently discovered Pearl jam at the age of 36...and they're now absolutely one of my favorites, they're just so so good. I wish i knew about them earlier on. Hopefully I'll still have a chance to see them in concert one day soon.

Love and miss you mom!

Back in the late 80's and early 90's the most popular club in Seattle was a place called the RCKCNDY which had 4 different stages. On any give night you might see Pearl Jam or Soundgarden or Nirvana or Alice N Chains or the Screaming Trees or Hammerbox or Mudhoney or the Tragically Hip or who knows. The only thing for sure was that you would get drunk and have tinnitus. It was simply the best place to live when you were under 40 in any city or at any age in the history of mankind! Oh this was the Paramount theater and I have been there for some great shows but unfortunately wasn't there for this one.

This brings back memories. I was in my early 20's when this song and this group broke out. It was an amazing time for music. The songs and singers were just so full of passion and you could feel it when they performed. Another group from this time was 'Stone Temple Pilots'. The lead singer Scott Weiland was fantastic. Their songs and music great.
No cell phones anywhere to be seen. A simpler time.

Pearl Jam is a band that everyone dismisses because "everyone likes Pearl Jam". Then when they finally sit down an actually listen to them they realize "oh shit, these guys are good"
Edit: There's another show where Eddie climbs up onto the metal beam that is part of the roof of the venue they were playing at (think big box store roof support) and falls into the crowd.

Thankfully Vedder isn't as reckless as he used to be back in the 90s. There were a lot of close calls and people were convinced that he'd end up falling from something and that would be the end of it. There are some videos out there of those earlier shows, with him swinging from a mic cable over the audience or climbing up 50 feet above the stage. There is one story he told about when he climbed up above the stage and reached the top only to discover that the I-beam he was clinging to only had enough space for his fingertips, and it was covered in dust. I think that was the time he realized that he was seconds away from an early death. He even apologized to all the other band members when they accepted an award (it might have been their induction to the Rock and Roll hall of fame) for putting them through all of that.
He's a great guy, they all are, but there were moments back then when we all thought he was probably going to die during a show. Needless to say, we're all extremely glad he didn't!

In addition to his young energy..Ed is an amazing storyteller . I love listening to the live shows because you get so much passion and Ed's cool stories. If you watch PJ20 Ed talks about the wild climbing and jumps and said it was the power of the music but his band mates were terrified he would get seriously hurt or die while he did that but they weren't gonna be able to talk him out of it

He was a guy who trusted his body, you don't go swinging from the rafters unless you do. Can't swear to it, but believe he was involved in stuff like surfing when young. They all looked sort of gleamingly healthy, fairly different from a lot of others involved in grunge. Another thing you notice when watching early Pearl Jam- no matter how strenuous his performance, he never lost his breath, maintained that powerful voice.

Speaking of kids, watch an awards show or some other music special of today where Pearl Jam is playing and watch Eddie's daughter's face. 'Coolest dad ever' face. She will be at a table in the audience with her mom and other family.

I recently watched something on TH-cam with him singing, and he has aged really wel. All clean cut and everything! Thank god he's still with us and didn't take the route of Chester and Chris Cornell. ❤

Afraid of heights? Bein up high is fun, and if you're nit doin somethin where you have the real possibility of being injured once in a while, then you're not livin....the mosh pit at the Pantera concert right after "A Vulgar Display of Power" was released was insane, I saw a dudes forearm fold up like a boomerang when he buried it in the middle of another dudes face...it was awesome, it definitely hurt like hell, but awesome nonetheless...🤘🏻🇺🇸

When you see the older Eddie Vedder you forget he had this level of energy once. He's still fantastic though.

Yeah, PJ and AIC for me. I think it’s that Nirvana was the most “punk” if you will, of the grunge bands and had that punk energy.

And that’s how Gen X gets down! 😉😂🤣😂🤣. And everyone wondered what one would get out of playing on the monkey bars. You never know when you’ll grow up to be a rockstar and need to climb the scaffold to jump into the audience. 🙃
