The entire band is extremely talented! The singer! The drummer! The bassist! Mr. Vernon Reid DESTROYING that guitar!🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 The little girl throughout the video IS KEY! You see her watching TV, as the band plays the song, she becomes mesmerized, completely engrossed. Just as the song comes to a close, she leans forward to shut off the TV. This song is an indictment of the industrial complex that is the mainstream media.....ALL platforms of media. It is the 'Cult of Personality' that you can not take at face value. This song is around 30 years old... Relevant then...even more so now. ✌️✌️
I remember when I first heard this on the radio, loved it. Than i was waiting to see the video on MTV, we were shocked a hard rock black group. We LOVED it. Bad ass lead guitarist
I've been a fan since I saw them at CBGBs back in the 80s. Perfect fusion of metal, hard rock, jazz and funk as I see it. Corey Glover is a great vocalist, a hellacious rhythm section with the GODLIKE presence of Vernon Reid on guitar. In my top 5 greatest bands... period! It would be nice if you could address the lyrics and video. THIS WAS NOT A PARTY SONG. This song and this band is important. You should recognize that. Peace!
@@ingovonderluhe2174 Seen every flavor of reaction on this vid, and ive seen plenty of non-Americans miss the point of this. Modernity is generally unaware, but for you to generalize a country of 330 million people vs the rest of the world indicates to me you missed the point of the song entirely. After all, the cult of personality is most easily found in governments, if not entertainment. Describes the whole world.
Yeah, these guys definitely grabbed our attention when this came out! We didn’t even know they were black until we saw the video….and, frankly, that just added to the cool factor. And now, it just doesn’t matter! Great song with great content!
This song really has it all. Incredible vocals, deep lyrics, a consistently relevant message, thundering drums, impeccable groove, and one of the most face-meltingest guitar solos of all time. It's absolutely timeless. It's just so visceral and chest pounding, it's impossible to not air guitar and sing along.
Doing a show with these dudes this summer. As a young drummer in the 80s, their rhythm section inspired me a lot. Great band and a great surprise when I saw this on the schedule
I suggest listening to other songs by them as well, like : Funny Vibe Pride Leave It Alone Auslander Love Rears It's Ugly Head Elvis Is Dead Type Solace of You Middle Man Open Letter (To a Landord) Glamour Boys
Vernon Reid studied and practiced to get where he is. When this masterpiece came out, Vernon was a nobody. Was never talked about. He can definitely play. U can bet the higher ups, such as Hendrix, Van Halen, Frehley, Beck were nothing but impressed y his playing
I was a Bodybuilder back in the 80's and 90's. EVERY SESSION We would get in the gym and CRANKED this at full tilt, and set the session off on a hyped vibe.
I've loved this band since day one. So ahead of their time, with some of the most lyrically intelligent songs that I've ever heard. I had the pleasure of seeing them last year, and they are even tighter now than they were then. An absolute World Class band!
Corey Glover is such an underrated rock vocalist and overall singer. His major label solo album from the mid 90s has some amazing gems on there also. Cool reaction. 👍🏽
I've been watching this channel for a long time and I was hoping I got them right, and I was validated in my intuition, the Wolf Hunters are the real deal. Most reactions to this song only see color, "OMG! They're black?!". But they didn't even for a moment think that way, this is what we should all be aiming for - recognizing people for their talent and not even giving a moments notice to their ethnicity. Love you guys for your correct and real reaction. I have a restored faith in the human race.
And don't forget about his run as Judas Iscariot in the 2006 national tour of Jesus Christ superstar, hailed by many critics as one of the best iterations of the show. Dude has so much talent in many different mediums it's insane
Dear Wolf HunterZ. I LOVE YOU! I know that you are starting to become KISS fans, if you want to see something you have never seen before or even imagined.....go to the you tube video Kiss and the Melbourne Orchestra, Act 3. I promise it will be memorable!
Introducing Mr. Vernon Reid on Lead Guitar and Mr. Corey Glover on Lead Vocals. Have you heard Open Letter To A Landlord ?? That really showcases Corey’s voice. Comes off the same CD. Another Video to watch 🙋🎸🎤🇦🇺😀
They opened for The Rolling Stones in the Oakland Coliseum while the sun was still out. I was probably 15.... 1989 I think. There was almost no one in the stadium. I rocked these amazing dudes from the front row. Whoop Whoop. Seriously, not more than a One Hit Wonder. That's amazing they didn't do more. Couple more good to ok songs, but not to get excited about like this. Cult of Personality is Epic!!!!
Don't know if you're aware of this, but Living Colour split up in the mid 90s and reunited in the early 2000s and have been together ever since. They released 3 albums since and still tour together.
@@frankdtank7444 Thanks for the info! I saw them on some show several years ago and they talked about getting back together, but I couldn't help but notice that there was still some tension between them. Glad to hear that they've worked through it.
This song was 30 years ahead of it's time.... Social media is now the CULT OF PERSONALITY....
Yes this song is absolute FIRE still after 30 years. But its also incredibly deep lyrically and is extremely relevant especially now.
I love you 💞
Criminally underrated band!!! Incredibly timely. Very deep. Living Colour was the real deal.
Is. They’re still working.
WWE wrestling legend CM Punk used this song for his entrance music
Still does
Amazing musicians, they were just ahead of their time. Vernon Reid is ridiculous and never gets any love in the top 10 guitarists convo.
Totally agree!
*^^^* THIS
Did u know that the lead singer actually played in the movie Platoon??
Yeah I noticed that too😮
How were they ahead of their time ?
This song still kicks ass after 30 some years!🤘🤘🤘
sadly more relevant today than back then.
The entire band is extremely talented!
The singer!
The drummer!
The bassist!

Vernon Reid is a beast on guitar
A crazy beast))
Yes. I used to play this tune in a band years ago and it was a tough song to get down.
I heard somewhere he actually did after. like the solo he did for this....which is crazy because it is dope af.
I remember when I first heard this on the radio, loved it. Than i was waiting to see the video on MTV, we were shocked a hard rock black group. We LOVED it.
Bad ass lead guitarist
This song is yesterday, today and even tomorrow. My guys right there. Love them. Vernon is a BEAST with it and Cory is pure energy.
Pay attention to the lyrics!!!! Lyrics are deep. "Big brother" aka "puppet master"

His guitar solos come at ya way different….so awesome!!!
Saw them live 1989 Tampa . Great show
Lyrics fit right in to today...
Check out this band called Body Count There Goes the Neighborhood bye The Lead singer ICE T
Did you guys even catch the meaning of the song? It seems you didn’t address the lyrics at all. It was a very deep and meaningful song.
The difference between Americans and the Rest of the World.....
‘I exploit you, yet you still love me’ best line ever and still true

There is no Music Reaction Code that prescribes what to do with such reactions. 🤷♂

Will Calhoun is a monster on drums. Check him out in the Buddy Rich memorial concert. Amazing.
Very good. The lead singer is Danny Glovers brother
Lol video, lyrics and message is definitely not about party time 🤣🤣😂😂
Escucho el intro y a mi mente solo viene el nombre de CM PUNK 😎😎😎
My Vernon Reid Avatar says, "Welcome to the Party Kids!" .. Check out the Living Colour songs "Type" and "Love Rears It's Ugly Head"..
"When the mirror speaks, the reflection lies..." hell yeah!

Cory Glover has also been an actor as well. Played in "Platoon" with Charlie Sheen.
This band sounds to me like what would happen if Lionel Ritchie (legend btw) and Def Leopard, had babies. Love it!!!!!

Auslander,Foreign(er) in german.
Love rears its ugly head, love that song!
🤯🤯🤯 goddddd that was mesmerizing
This was one of THE anthems of 1988. Everyone rocked to it. They are a seriously under rated band.
LC was asked by The Stones to open for some of their gigs.
Suzi 🤘😍🤘. Corey is the most amazing and coolest people I've ever had the privilege of meeting...
Vernon Reid is a guitar beast! Corey's vocals are top shelf!
Two Words: Vernon Reid.
Cory Glover: lead vocals, Vernon Reid: guitar, Muz Skillings: Bass (later replaced by Doug Wimbish), and Will Calhoun: drums.
This song has one of the most iconic guitar riffs ever created in rock music.
Vernon Reid studied and practiced to get where he is. When this masterpiece came out, Vernon was a nobody. Was never talked about. He can definitely play. U can bet the higher ups, such as Hendrix, Van Halen, Frehley, Beck were nothing but impressed y his playing

From Chicago, Illinois weighing in at 225 lbs CM Punk!!!!!
Some would say this is the Best in the World
Vernon kills it on lead guitar.
"You don't need to follow me.... only you can set you free"
Great lyric
That has always been on my favorites songs playlists/mixed tapes.
This video was being played heavily on MTV back in the day.
There is a deep political message in this song. Lyrics must be studied and the music is the icing on the cake
Corey Glover is such an underrated rock vocalist and overall singer. His major label solo album from the mid 90s has some amazing gems on there also. Cool reaction. 👍🏽
Kool !!!!

they are so wildly underrated. living colour was so ahead of their time i’m this album and ran circles around everyone
It's clobbering time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At the other end of the music spectrum check out their song Nothingness. Really beautiful song. I would recommend the studio cut and official video.

That guitarist has some serious chops! And that sound!
What an amazing band. Songs from the first 3 albums would be a wise move on your part 😜
I saw them live when they toured with The Rolling Stones back in the day. Fantastic show. They brought the same energy.
Love raises its ugly head!
I remember the day this song burst out over the radio. So much talent, and the lyrics are even more relevant today.
Vernon is a beast
Lead singer had a role in the movie "Platoon". Multi talented. Saw them in a bar in Lawrence, ks then open for the Stones at a football stadium
And don't forget about his run as Judas Iscariot in the 2006 national tour of Jesus Christ superstar, hailed by many critics as one of the best iterations of the show. Dude has so much talent in many different mediums it's insane
One is the top songs and performances to come out of the 80s. Someone needs to bring back Vernon Reid’s(guitarist) suit! Or put it in a museum.
Today is Vivid's 35th birthday. And it still sounds amazing.
YASSSSS! So happy you did a Living Colour song. You guys should do more of their songs, especially from the Time's Up album. Absolutely AMAZING!!
Living Colour "Open Letter to a Landlord and "American Skin (41 Shots) The messages in the 2 songs are truth. American Skin was written by Bruce.
Banger to the 10th power!!!
My favourite song of theirs by far is: "Love Rears Its Ugly Head"!
Went to a Bowie tribute concert a couple years back & Corey headlined, he still kills!🔥✌❤

Their songs have an important message
You should take notice of the lyrics in their songs. They all have a powerful message.

If you get the chance, SEE THEM LIVE!!! Also, the singer Corey Glover was in the movie Platoon.
Why can't I find this video on TH-cam anymore?? I've watched it a hundred times. Has It been taken down??

Great song with killer guitar work, good vocals & powerful lyrics! ♥
Such a killer band. To bad they couldn't get along.

Platoon
Corey is a great guy
You have to listen to open letter to a land lord. It really shows how good his voice is eg Corey Glover. Brilliant vocalist. Kez 🙋🇦🇺😀
This song also makes a big statement. Most of them do.
That's my favourite Living Colour song. Love Corey's voice
