We all love a good mystery story, and it seems like some of the very best of them occur out at sea. Everybody knows the story of the Mary Celeste, which was found drifting without a crew, but that’s just one of many maritime mysteries which have puzzled the public for years. From missing boats to missing crews and disappearing passengers, this video is full of happenings at sea which are strange, but true.

This is the reason for the engine shutdown on Viking Sky.
According to the Norwegian Maritime Directorate, the level of lubricating oil on the tanks was within set limits, but relatively low when the vessel embarked on Hustadvika. The tanks were equipped with level alarms, but these had not been triggered when the vessel embarked on Hustadvika.
There was full cheer when the ship arrived at Molde on Saturday after a dramatic day in bad weather.
    Arnfinn Mauren
    - The heavy sea on Hustadvika probably caused such large movements in the tanks that the lubricating oil pumps lost supply. This triggered a low lubricant oil pressure alarm, which in turn led to automatic shutdown of the engines shortly afterwards, the directorate states.

I really do not get the, "Trip of a lifetime," people speak about when taking a ship cruise. There is absolutely nothing sounding desireable about being trapped with thousands of strangers, on a ship, with no way off. It sounds like an uncomfortable, crowded, environment where you better watch your back constantly for strangers that will try to victimise you. Why anybody would want to be trapped with a bunch of strangers is well beyond me. The only way I will ever take a ship cruise is if the ship has nobody else on board, save maybe the required crew. I would also love to take a long cruise with my own vessel, should I ever be able to afford one. Why do people think it is fun to herd together with strangers?

They do seem like very, "Moo-ving," experience. I guess some people obviously like being herded into a contained environment with no way off. It is not for me. I do not even take jets anymore after the seats went from an uncomfortable full seat to an uncomfortable half seat. I only move about long distance in my tusty automobile, motorcoach, or train now. Which is much slower than a jet but have bigger seats and an easy way off. I am not saying that these ships and jets are like moving about in a Nazi concentration camp steam train, but it seems heading in that direction, especially in jets. I can picture one day seeing a jet boarding gate with a tall blonde German man at the gate, dressed in a black leather overcoat, very neat black uniform shirt, and a black leather captain's hat with polished silver insignias for the jetliner and polished silver buttons with an armband with the jetliner insignia on, it saying, "Dis boarding pass, now!," as he holds out his hand in a black leather glove. Then he looks at the boarding pass and he screams out "Vwat have ve here, economy class? To dis back ov dis jet, now! Schnell!"

There was a spate of bulk carriers going missing, which turned out to be a design fault that caused the hulls to crack. One ship (Derbyshire) actually broke in two.

Not known what happened xD Viking Sky had too low oil in both tanks when the little that was left sloshed about and exposed the pumps lubing the engines the safety systems shut down the engines to save them. It was human error on whoever was checking the oil levels.

The French sub sunk in over 3600 feet of water. There is a picture of people diving around the wreck. That must be some tough scuba gear. LOL.

Cascading mechanical / maintenance failures would probably 'solve' a lot of lost vessels. Cargo ships are notorious for having bad, or no maintenance done on them.

      Metan Blows?

    • @Tbonyandsteak
      @Tbonyandsteak 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@MicPheezer Yeah there some documentation of this phenomenon.
When there is an underground sea slide.
      Massive metan gets released.
When a boat is cough in such blow it losses its ability to flow and simply sink down fast.
The blows makes the water dissapear underneath the boat.

Fires are a danger PRECISELY because they are underwater, very limited oxygen, and a fire can quickly use a lot of it.

I love stories where the ship, now considered obsolete and is being towed to its doom, breaks free and decides to just fuck off. Like the Warspite and to some extent the Oregon., although both seem to have had less luck than the Lyubov Orlova
