AMC is the biggest movie theatre company in the world. They pay their employees below minimum wage and gave their chief strategist a 500 billion dollar bonus (which could have went towards rent since they aren’t paying their landlords anymore)... When they were shutting the theatres down, we found out through articles on yahoo and was told we weren’t gonna get paid for them closing. We were told to file for partial unemployment because they would still need us whenever they reopened....But I’m glad you customers love A-lists...

I don’t think AMC will close, but odds are against them. If it was only them needing help then they would be fine. However, everyone is hurting which is why I don’t think anyone will help them out with their debt. Lot of movies pushed back till next year. Not to mention they will be limiting seating for social distancing and dealing with a high demographic of people without a job. It’s a bad perfect storm for them. It just feels the longer this lockdown goes, the worse it will be.

I'm hoping all of these HUGE entities emerge from this different and better. For too long they have relied on the working population to feed the beast.

Movie theaters should be preserved the same way sports arenas should be preserved. For me when this pandemic is over the first thing I want to do is go to a movie theater. I’m sorry the experience of going to the movies is not the same as seeing a movie at home. It’s like baseball, it’s an American past time and should be protected.

Maybe they shouldn't have taken on so much debt. Or had enough in cash reverse to handle issues. The proverbial "couple months of expenses" suggested for the average person.

The future of the movie theaters is that after this is over we will be on the way to living the plot of "Elysium" for real. We will never really have what was normal again including going to the movies. I don't say it will happen overnight but the filthy rich will eventually make it a world of "The Haves & the Have Nots.". If you're one of the brokey- brokes the movie theater is the last place you'll be going.

Hollywood execs are not only extremely selfish but they're also extremely short-sighted. I don't expect any studio to swoop in and help out AMC even if it would be in their best interest.

Here’s a bright idea, maybe the movie companies should ask for a lower percentage of the ticket revenue so that this doesn’t happen. Or maybe the government, who forced this shut down in the first place. Subsidizes the company until the shut down is over because they’re currently violating the 5th amendment.

@@robzombie5928 Yes they do, heck every company has their own problems at the moment. It's hitting everything really hard. AMC might have to sink on it's own, sadly.

I would like to believe studios will bail out the theaters due to a heavy reliance on them but the problem is the studios themselves are already taking massive financial hits and this may not stabilize for years before people as a collective feel safe enough to resume regular theatergoing, and not even factoring in how many people just won't enjoy it as much anymore after abstaining from it for months sheltered at home. It's more likely an entity like Apple will try to purchase them I think.

Don't know where you're seeing 13 bucks. Also, as someone who worked at a theater....the higher food prices are so the theater can make money. Movie companys take about 90% of the first week of a movie's ticket sales, after a few weeks it drops down more and more.
