Agreed. It’s not well acknowledged that late 80s BOC were at their top of their game. Imaginos tour was amazing and worthy of a Pink Floyd style production. Sadly they had to pay back two record company advances and they played it conservatively to keep costs down
Great live show. Buck and Alen tearing it up. Buck brings the swagger of the 70s and the aggression of the 80s and blends them in his style. Just amazing stuff. I seen them in 91 and they kicked my butt. Underrated band. Been on tour since early 70s and in 2020 they still doing it. Only a few bands left that can say that. RIP Alen.
Yep, definitely in the exclusive club of phenomenal rockers from 1970s USA that would have represented us in 1972 and 1976 rock Olympics versus the UK.
IMO, as good as his pipes still were in 1990, they were not at their peak as they were in 1975. By the time the concert at the Navy Pier was filmed in 2002, they were really suffering IMO. Listen to "Astronomy" on the 2002 concert compared to the "Live 1976" concert video. As bad as the audio quality was on the "Live 1976" video was, his pipes are no comparison between the two. They seemed to have recovered a bit, but some vocalists just "don't have the genes" to keep their pipes as they age. Still love the Cult though. Followed them ever since T&M was released in 1973.
First time I saw them was in this club in Fort Myers Florida when they were on tour for Heaven Forbid when they had Danny Miranda and Bobby Rondinelli in the line up,summer 1998 best concert ever.
I saw BOC in Dothan, AL at a club called Cowboys (I think 🤔 anyway). It was either late 1987 or early 88 and I was going through Army helicopter pilot training at nearby Ft. Rucker. Although I wasn’t a huge fan it was so cool to see a hard rock band that I was familiar with from my early high school years and the movie Heavy Metal, etc. It was especially cool to see a concert in such a small venue and a very welcome respite from the grueling Army regimen!
