With those standard videos you learn mostly about construction and materials, but here there was a lot more talk about sizing and comfort and break in and how a leather insole feels (because honestly you don't get full thick leather insoles until $300+ I think...) Always curious how those feel since I only have tried Thursdays (Presidents) with plenty of poron in the insole. I really like the idea of a boot constructed with leather all the way in the sole including the shank, so this boot is one of the lower cost options that almost have that (I like the idea of more leather in place of the cork). Just wish it was a more service boot standard look rather than moc toe. Personal preference I guess. because i hear too many misconceptions about this: objectively (in an orthopedic sense) a good fit in a boot means it's snug behind the joint (at the metatarsals and around the heel, where you lace it in place tightly, so it holds your foot and supports your arch and ankle), just slightly hugging the ball area (WHITHOUT squishing but so that it doesn't slide around) and roomy at the toes to give them space. and off course the insole should resemble your joint positions and the shape of your foot as good as possible.
I order all my custom Whites from Bakers. I have 10+ pairs and they are all 10D. My left foot measures 11 on the Brannock and my right foot measures a hair over 10.5. The best advice I can give you is to outline your feet and send in the required measurements. The guys at Bakers will take care of you. Keep in mind that different lasts will fit differently. You may not be the same size in all of their lasts. I wear a 9.5E in their MP last.
Just to help people out, I'm a 10.5 EE on the branock, I got the 8" in tobacco stampede size 10 EE and they fit perfectly. I love these boots, and I hope this helps.
I think the arch is a huge differentiator. I own the 9.5EE White's Semi-Dress British Tan CXL which comes with the 55 last. I'm a 10.5 Brannock on one foot and just under 11 Brannock on the other. The 9.5 fits great...toes 'do not' touch the end of the toe box. The higher arch definitely holds your foot back in the boot.
I love this! The combo of lace-up moc toes and guys discussing them is very attractive to me. I'd love to see more of these! Frank discussion about boots! 🔥
Very good video - but this is the first time anyone mentions that they are slippery when wet?!? What is the purpose of a boot if you cannot wear it when the weather is anything but dry?
Just got my Black Perry Select's.....been too soon to have a true opinion, but so far so good.....tough on the heel thus far, but that was totally expected. Can't wait to see how they are after a little broken in.
I think for White's going for half-size down based on foot-length is quite correct for D width. Some folks should check their arc-length as well. 8.5 foot | 9 arc still fit would White's size 8
This was really well done. I put off ordering White's on a different last for this reason and might go bespoke after all. I also just received a pair of Grant's after a ton of research before ordering but ordered the wrong size after all.
Grand Stone are great boots but their sizing is wonky too. They told me to go down a half size from my sneaker size. The boots were a half size to big. I needed to go down a full size. Plus on their Diesel the tongue isn't gusseted very high which is very frustrating on a $350 boot. The tongue slips off to the side when walking no matter how tight you tie the laces. I am keeping them but going to get a boot I can try on in the store for my next heritage boot. No more internet sizimg.
I wear the smokejumpers by whites Im 9.5 E on the brannock 9.5E Smokejumper fits good with my wool boots socks 9E is nice and tight, and after 9 months of wear, fits me better than any woman ever could
Been waiting on this video since there isn’t a lot of info out there post break-in. I got 10.5D 6” in TS about 30 days ago. The heel blisters are real, but that heel counter is very stiff. Very comfortable boots that really stand out.
I can end up wearing 8.5-10 depending on brand, forces to wear "oversized" gym shoes to have the width. The fact boots have different width grades is a game changer I didn't know about til my 30s
White’s has amazing customer service; they exchanged Perry boots for me including shipping and even exchanged a new pair of Millwoods I was going to sell on eBay that were out of the return window. The latter was done without me asking either, just a mention about ebay. My brannock is a 10, 9.5 was too small and swapped out for a 10d. Also tried a 9.5EE which way way too big. Dropping down a half size is probably a good starting point, then size up or stay put.
I’m late to the party but wondered how these compare to the 350cs you cut a while ago (wedge sole built on the 55 last). I’m looking for a wedge sole to be walking around on hard floors all day and can’t decide!
So I too have the British Tan double shot. I am a 12 on the Brannock. I bought an 11.5. I am okay with them. They feel ok. I bought the journeyman in a 12. Truth be told I kinda wish I would have got my Perry select in a 12. I love both.
Ya - just a cool heads up to whites - bought a pair of tobacco Perry’s because of this video - my favorite whites yet. Would like a Rose Anvil whites select - would be immediately.
I am loving this candid/real world unedited round table review of a product. The unscripted reality is a breath of fresh air! Consumer Reports magazine ain't got notin on dis!
So i want to know which one you prefer--the red wing moc or the Perry select? I have the original Perry boots on their first resole and they are hands down my favorite over anything I've ever worn. This is compared to Nick's 11067, whites 55 last, and JK 55 last. Btw, i work on concrete all day
The guys are like....what did I like....I had shoes on...that was helpful....lol. I appreciate the video, I think they pretty much liked the boot and brought up some actual things that affect their perspective.
Thank You Jason for asking the questions that I had as well. And awesome shirt. Fairies wear Boots should have been the intro to this segment. Sabbath fans will get it.
This was a great video and helped me out a lot deciding on the leather and sizing. As a midwesterner I did have to chuckle because this is the most PNW looking group of guys I think I have ever seen assembled. The clothes, haircuts, verbiage, just a completely different vibe. That said, you guys are absolutely rad and I appreciate what you do. Cheers from the Buckeye state.
I now have 2 pairs of the Whites now. I have a Perry Moc Toe in Brown distress leather. I really enjoy this boot. Fit and sizing wise are spot on. I am not sure about Brannock size. I went with 13EE. Just got a Perry Select in Burgundy last week. It also fits good right out of the box. It will be my weekend boot...Way too nice for work...Both are 6in boots. I got the boot on your recommendation... Now, I have to figure out what to get next. A Nicks or another pair of Whites...?
Have any of you used the suggested size on White’s website? They have a guide where you can measure your foot and it’ll tell you the size they suggest you get. I was wondering if anyone had experience using it and thought it was accurate?
Would you be able to do a review of the whites Fulton? I’m interested in how those compare to the whites perry considering they’re both moc toes and only have a 5$ difference.
Very generous of Seidel to let Whites use their couch to make the Tobacco Stampede boots. Must be a super limited-release. I gotta cop some before that couch is all gone
I kind of wonder if White’s has an quality control issue as far as sizing. I have two pairs of the reg. Perry. First pair was just a bit too snug, so I took the insole out and replaced it with a very thin leather insert. Boots fit pretty well, maybe just a bit too small. So second pair went a half size up, wow. I wear a super-feet insert and thicker sock and they are still slightly larger than I would like. No way there should be that much difference a half size!
i recently got my first pair of leathers a pair of Fultons which are just a heavy duty collared 8" Perry, have to say best footwear purchase iv ever made.
I made the mistake of wearing my redwing supersole 2.0s to work the day I bought them, and I also forgot to bring a spare pair of shoes/boors. I worked a 12 hour day that day and did over 20 miles carrying stuff in a warehouse. When I finally got the boots off, I had a small blood stain in the like Achilles area of both feet. I skinned them a little with one of them missing like a dime sized chunk of skin.
Hey hey!! I just got my Perry selects 8” in tobacco stampede 4days ago. Half size down to 11 and a double EE! Normally D. I changed the laces to Milwaukee Leather Universal Leather Side Lace Boat (White, 72") right away and absolutely love them! My other comparable boot is redwing billy boot. Night and day feel. Love the Billies but. Also White’s threw in a piece of leather for me to add a pocket knife!! Couldn’t be happier!
I have a pair of 6 inch red wind mock toe boots that I love but there’s no insole on the inside just that fiberboard or whatever is in there. What’s a good insole I can use for comfort? I’m a ups driver and I’m on my feet all day, thank you.
I’ve worn 8” Thorogood moc’s for the last five years. Usually get a 13EE. And I usually get a year and a half out of them. And by the end of their life they feel too loose. I actually work in them. In a fairly clean shop. But I recently switched to the Red Wing Traction Tred Lite in a 8”. Went with a regular 13. But I’m actually thinking about getting the Whites Perry for everyday wear. I just want a good looking boot to wear that’s comfortable. I have a super jacked up ankle and pretty much only wear boots now.
@@moviepedro absolutely 👍 Break in was a breeze. Very comfortable! Just wore last week also walking all over the Las Vegas strip for 3 days and feet felt great!
Thanks for your reply. I got a red wing sizing in store (they have a fancy computer machine) and I found out I have very narrow heel… so I’m gonna go with 10.5D because I got 10.5EE Thorogood moc toe and the heel is too loose and even the front of the shoe could be less wide for a better fit with medium weight merino sock.
I wear 12 or 13 and generally do not have trouble unless I am buying something off Amazon and want a specific color. If I am willing to wait, it's never an issue.
It would make sense on the sizing being all over the place if they mentioned if the boot was D or EE. I know Danner wedge boots D are super narrow width. Tighter than Nikes.
Again with the lucky slice pizza shirt. AWESOME you should come watch our lucky slice hockey old mens beer league ice hockey team play up at weber state this winter.
Loved the vid, do more of this style! I got my Perry's (not select) 1 month ago. Same issue with my heel being torn up. I've found wearing darn tough socks eliminates the chafing pain. It may be the socks slip more and arent as rough as cotton socks. I also have lady ankles. I went down a half size from brannock, and while they fit well, I do wonder if going another half size down would have been better. My feet don't slide around but there is plenty of heel slip and the last is all together roomy and generous. Plenty comfy standing and walking all day though!
I've had a pair of White's Hillyards for a few months and I tell you, the break in takes ages, but it'll totally change the way they sit on your feet. Your heel won't slip as much in a couple months
I have worn my ND2’s everyday since November 2022 when I received them and they are practically slippers at this point. Looking forward to my nd3’s. You got me again unfortunately
Never seen this brought up however your feet can swell during different times of day and during long hikes etc. I was always told to get a half size bigger to account for that. Always worked for me although now looking at PNW style boots I'm even more confused as the sizing is all over the place. Try them in person maybe pull out an insole of a good fitting boot you have and take it to the store etc to compare.
Just got my Perry's love them. I did the measuring on a sheet wich gave a 9D. I usually wear 10 in sneakers and sometimes 9.5 in dress shoes/boots....the boots are snug but still room in the toe box. My question for you guys: Have you kept the ortholite insole in your boots? And why? Thanks
I have 8 inch regular black Perry’s and 6inch British tan selects. I did get blisters breaking in the 8 inches but I feel that was my fault for pushing them to early. I started just wearing them for hour or 2 then I wore them for 3 mile walk and that shredded my heels. Since then they broke in and feel great and i didn’t have any issues with the selects breaking them in even with the leather counters. I’m 12 on brannock and both are 11.5 d and for the same on me. They are both great boots I don’t like wearing my tgoods anymore and won’t be purchasing them in the future. The double shot leather is awesome the pull up is next level. I’m actually thinking of getting a pair of black selects and moving the regular Perry’s to just work rotation.
I replaced the ortholite insole with Nick’s leather insoles and after walking several miles, I don’t think that was the right move. The Ortholite insoles are probably better for the design of this boot.
Be interesting to see statistics on height vs brannock size. I’m 5’10” and have 11”. How do adult males have 9.5 brannock size? Are they 5’ tall? Or do they have extreme high arch?
Hey yall what do i need to do to help preserve these boots or are they just ready out of the box? Do I need to treat them at all from a water proofing standpoint? Sorry for the super noob question this is my first pair of nice boots
About how many years should I expect the Perry and Perry select boots to last? I would be wearing them spring to fall and didn’t know if anyone could ballpark the longevity
Whites never makes true to size (brannock) boots. You always have to go at least a half size down, I have to go a full size down on all of there boots... I've even gone 1.5 sizes down on my 350 Cutters. I'm a 9.5 and I have a pair of 8 in whites.
@thec. I’ve been wondering about this... Do you wear Red Wing moc toes or Thorogood’s? If so, what’s your size in them versus the Whites Perry’s? Thank you. I’m having the hardest time deciding on a half or full size down.
Thanks for the great info. Just got my pair of 6" Tobacco Stampede boots this weekend. I'm curious how you all lace these? Does anyone actually use the eyelet at the very top? Just the speed hooks?
I have a 6" Thorogood 1959 or whatever it is, the one Wes reviewed in October, but I never use the top eyelet. Mostly because I'm lazy in the morning so I don't even untie them, just take them off the speed hooks and then put them back on tied in the morning either on the way to work or when I get there depending if I'm running late.
I guess if yr working and don't want the laces falling off a hook from them getting loose from moving all day then use the eyelets, otherwise it's just extra work to me... but that's my personal experience and preferences.
What Joey said. If you're really moving around a lot and putting a bunch of weird lateral movement on your boots, I'd use the very top eyelets. But personally, most of my work is pretty normal motions, just in tough conditions, so I don't bother with the top eyelet. The speed hooks do fine for me.
Every Perry model on the website says it’s made on the 1972 Arch-Ease last, which they claim is their flattest last. I’m not understanding this talk about the select and regular having different arch support.
Each leather being conditioned differently is probably why your sizing preferences are all different. Maybe if you each had the same boot color you’d start to see a sizing pattern. But I’m with the one guy who goes a full size down. I feel like a clown anytime I go true to size or half size down. Full size down tends to be more form fitting.
Hello Wes. Can I ask what you wear in sneakers? I wear a few brands, but the best fitting are New Balance and I wear 10 wide. Is that comparable to yours?
I'm an 11 1/2 in redwing 10877, I bought the Perry's in 11 could've went with a 10 1/2.. did they change the heal counter in the normal Perry's because I'm still breaking in the heal counter it's super stiff

A few years back, you rated Whites Perry as an “A” in your mix toe list. Would you say it’s now an “S” or still just “A”?

Too funny, I'm the same. Left foot 11, right 10.5, and 10D in White's.
A moc toe is next on my list and eyeing White's; really appreciate the sizing talk and insole v. no insole. Good to know.
I wear the smokejumpers by whites
Im 9.5 E on the brannock
9.5E Smokejumper fits good with my wool boots socks
9E is nice and tight, and after 9 months of wear, fits me better than any woman ever could
This video is very useful for sizing questions. Please do another with another arch and/or build. Thank you!!!
I'm a 7.7D and a White's 7D fits very well!!
Wish there was more footage of the boots than watching ppl talk. Trying to make my mind up on what colour to get!!!
Been waiting on this video since there isn’t a lot of info out there post break-in. I got 10.5D 6” in TS about 30 days ago. The heel blisters are real, but that heel counter is very stiff. Very comfortable boots that really stand out.
Just took the insole out and now they fit great didn’t know there was leather under there
I can end up wearing 8.5-10 depending on brand, forces to wear "oversized" gym shoes to have the width. The fact boots have different width grades is a game changer I didn't know about til my 30s
I love both pairs of my Perry’s. I normally wear a 13 but in whites I wear a 12.
The thickness of the socks everyone wore can also affect how they perceived the sizing.
Bingo. The guys may have different impressions because different socks.
This is the issue with ordering online 😅 there is nothing like trying them on. Sometimes it depends on your feet swelling as well.
Did you contact with Whites directly or through Bakers boot
@@sivakornsirirat1334 purchased from White’s and used their customer service.
I’m late to the party but wondered how these compare to the 350cs you cut a while ago (wedge sole built on the 55 last). I’m looking for a wedge sole to be walking around on hard floors all day and can’t decide!
I like these boots more now after all yall had barely any complaints and all good things to say
Rose Anvil is a shill for White's, that is why they have nothing negative to say.
The nicks moc boot while crazily priced is probably the best moc boot you can own if money was not an issue I’d only wear them
Have any of you used the suggested size on White’s website? They have a guide where you can measure your foot and it’ll tell you the size they suggest you get. I was wondering if anyone had experience using it and thought it was accurate?
Would you be able to do a review of the whites Fulton? I’m interested in how those compare to the whites perry considering they’re both moc toes and only have a 5$ difference.
This might be my favorite episode on RA2.
The heel break-in was almost the deal-breaker for me, on the regular Perry’s. I worked through it and now it’s ok but man, it was tough.
Just got thru it in mine. Brutal.
@@matthewroberts4707why what does the heel feel like when you first buy
I agree with Wes, I like a thumbs Width and I adjust with sock thickness
I ve been waiting for this video. Those journeymans got my eye for a minute .
Hey bought myself a pair of Bedstu i really like them if you could do a review on them see how well they are made thanks
Jay was asking my questions too! He’s needed! Go with it
Also, I went with the Perry based on your vid from a few months ago! So thanks
I have a pair of 6 inch red wind mock toe boots that I love but there’s no insole on the inside just that fiberboard or whatever is in there. What’s a good insole I can use for comfort? I’m a ups driver and I’m on my feet all day, thank you.
Just got my pair of 6" tobacco stampede yesterday, ordered them June 13th during their sale.
I’m 11 on brannock exactly and between D/EE on width.
I went 10.5 and EE in Tobacco Stampede and it fits beautifully
Thank you I’m the same size. That is the size I was thinking of getting. Are you happy with the sizing after break in? Especially in regards to width
@@moviepedro absolutely 👍
Break in was a breeze.
I think I stay with redwing 10877
Tay was lucky they sent such a large size! Finding 12 and 13 size boots can be tricky.
Tell me about it. Nobody ever has a 12.5 EE unless you buy custom
Mine are a little small recommend a wide for everyone who doesn’t have skinny feet
And why?
Thanks
I love the Perry - Hybrid Wedge.
Moc toe
I’m looking into getting those right now. Just trying to figure what size and color
@@shadowreaper9838 the website has a size measurement scale. I wear a 11 so it told me to get a 10.
I always buy my brannock size!
The foam inserts are hotter than the leather ones
I can use an 11.5D which fit like Redwing 12D
"Isn't all language made up?"
Flashback to a linguistic anthropology class years ago ensued.
It seems like without the insole you need a full size down.
the toebox looks much better than on Red Wings.
Every Perry model on the website says it’s made on the 1972 Arch-Ease last, which they claim is their flattest last. I’m not understanding this talk about the select and regular having different arch support.
The leather shank will mold to your foot more and therefore giving more arch support in the select.
How come I have to go a whole size up. I’m a 10.5 and I’m always trying to go a size down and it’s impossible
Hi Smiff. Do you have Redwing or Thorogood Mocs? If so what size do you wear in them and Whites Mocs if you have those. Thank you.
Hello Wes. Can I ask what you wear in sneakers? I wear a few brands, but the best fitting are New Balance and I wear 10 wide. Is that comparable to yours?
You’ve got to come to the Monterey Bay, and try pizza my heart. Best pizza ever!!
I'm an 11 1/2 in redwing 10877, I bought the Perry's in 11 could've went with a 10 1/2.. did they change the heal counter in the normal Perry's because I'm still breaking in the heal counter it's super stiff
I wear an 11-11.5 depending on shoe. I have damn hobbit toes. 10 EE fits me perfectly
Do these boots meet any type of electrical hazard ratings ?
Great episode
If branock to true size was better. I need custom
I’m curious how does the Cristy sole wear compared to the 2021 sole?
Where is the tape measure dimensions for boots like how some other clothing have
