Swap 4090 and Elgato. The bottom slot is still PCIe 4.0 x16 and the 4090 is PCIe 4.0 as well. See Mainboard Manual, Page 5.
The card will overhang the PCIe bracket slot area, but since I do not see an obstacle there (25:01), it should be possible to fasten it with one screw at the back. Should hold although it misses the second screw. The area now resting below the slots can exhaust through the mesh in the case there.
Plugs for HDAudio, USB 2.0, SYS_FAN, RGB and the like could prove to be a problem though, because the graphics card might block them now. :(
UPDATE: The newer BIOS versions for this board allow bifurcation on all PCIe slots, so this is a moot point now. Just add the cards wherever they fit. :)

They need the top slot for the bifurcation of the expansion ssds. the bottom slot does not have it. they stated that in the video.

Secret 3rd option. Put the Elgato on an M.2 Oculink adapter for breakout. Then you can use a vertical style or Low Profile PCIe to NVMe adaptor.
I'd have to look at the motherboard manual, but if the bottom x16 slot is from the CPU I see no problem with doing it that way. Day 400 of asking for a PIO motherboard that puts an x16 slot off the top of the motherboard (Parallel to it). Then all the other slots will have plenty of room. Even if there will only be room for 4 of them, none of them can block the GPU.

Paul, for what it's worth the workaround for the network issue doesn't work anymore for Win 11. Just built a PC with an MSI MAG Z790 Tomahawk Wifi motherboard and there was absolutely no way to get past the Windows 11 setup screen that requires a network. The keyboard, which worked the entire time, didn't work on that page to do Shift F10 to open the command prompt to enter the keywords to bypass the screen. Wifi didn't work. LAN didn't work. Even tethering to my phone didn't work. Microsoft was absolutely no help, as expected. The only thing that saved me was seeing deep within a sub-Reddit that a USB Wifi dongle worked. That's what saved me but it was 4 days of hair pulling. Once installed I downloaded the updated drivers for the motherboard and all is good. So, not sure if Microsoft is hip to the workaround of the network issue or what but just a heads up. That was my experience.

Regarding the PCIe slot clearance isues:
As already mentioned, option one would be to use Lian Li's upgright GPU kit to mount the card over the fan tray at the front.
This would also a) bypass the potential clearance issues with the tubes that you touched on, or b) use an aircooled GPU after all.
Alternatively you could consider swapping the SSD AIC to a card with its own PLX-Chip to do the bifurcation itself without the need for support on the motherboard side.
I think those can get pretty expensive and often only go to gen 3 speeds though...

For the pcie cards, i would replace the Aorus card with a HighPoint NVME RAID card. More expensive, but shows up as a single drive, uses all 16 lanes, and is even bootable. Then you could put the gpu in the top slot, NVME RAID in the second, and capture in the bottom with no issue.

Awesomesauce video as always guys. I was voting for one epic long video. But actually watching it in 2 parts, makes me appreciate the time it takes to build Joe's new editing rig. My concern so far is the airflow on the CPU cooler. The M.2 adapter card blocks almost half the suction fan. I imagine by now we would know if it has had any issue in cooling.
It's cool watching Joe put together his latest editing rig. And knowing how he separates the drives, like i try to do.

I have 2 partitions (one each on 2 separate STORAGE MEDIUMS) for just files, the rest of my storage is for games except boot drive which is almost entirely just except boot drive which is just OS and software that refuses any other drive. PS sorry for caps they were accidental

I would have forgone the bifurcation card, obtained 4x 8TB NvME Gen 4 drives and installed the 4090 in the top slot, giving plenty of access for the capture card in the bottom slot.

Look.... I got to build my first PC this year, and I made a monster. Honestly, I made the decision to go with a 4080 over a 4090 for electricity costs through the year, and thought that that was the only compromise that could've made the build better.
    Boy, was I wrong.

Threadripper……. I’d like to see how Joe uses this PC that would require such power!
I would use a liquid cooler for the CPU, it should not fail unless you bought a crappy AIO or it was defective! You will want all the cooling you can get; and having a liquid cooler for the GPU but not the CPU is just odd. Since you are going big you should just build a liquid cooling PC

Seeing the 8 m.2 cards laid out side by side…I started to salivate. I must be sick.
If an extension cable can’t be fitted to mount the capture card…Looks like the GPU would fit in slot 1 with the expansion card in slot 2, which has a circuitry-protecting backplate (unlike the capture card). The fan on the GPU might not get good airflow tho.

Its OK you can afford to give Joe a $10,000 workstation. I have 12TB of Gen 4 and an 8TB SATA drive. I'll never fill it up.

Hey Paul, I was just showing my sister this build as I've just built my system in the white Vision case and it reminded me that my case did NOT have the two silicon covers included, for use when the motherboard is used in the lower position, looking around the internet, this seems to be a common 'oversight' of Lian Li's, perhaps you might be able to get some info/reason, from Lian Li, as to why so many people are reporting the same thing? As far as I know there is only one outlet for the Vision case here in the Uk, perhaps Lian Li could send a bag of these covers to them (OverclockersUK) so they might send them out to all who've bought one of these cases and tuck a pair in each Vision box for all future purchaser's.

I'm in a similar position in terms of wanting a capture card, My mobo has 2x x16 slots and 1x x1 slot.
    They are arranged
    16
    1
    16
The 1 is too close to my GPU to be useful really so I had to plug my soundcard into the second 15 and currently Can't really think about a capture card in that x1 slot.

forgive me if this is a stupid question and follow up questions, but why not use an AIO for the CPU? Would an AIO not be more efficient? Or does the Threadripper not get warm enough to justify an extra radiator in the case? Or is the current CPU cooler just that efficient to not justify using an AIO?

From what you are doing it Already shows the the Vision is not the case for top Exhaust and you need the Evo. LOL Paul's mod mat Add the 4k capture card and wedge a thermal pad between and add 2 fans to the bottom/ RGB.

See if Lian Li has a side GPU mount for that case and use a PCIE Riser card for the graphic card or capture card. If that doesn't work, maybe teflon tape the back of that capture card to prevent any shorts.

The black Noctua fans can totally be RGB, just do one corner red, another green, and a third one blue. I guess the 4th can be white to make it RGBW.

10k build fail - actually did you expect anything less - i would lay case down to avoid sockets sag - you will figure out the capture issue - just get a usb capture - this machine will do well for years and you can always upgrade to 8tb nvme and 1tb ram when prices drop in 3-4 yrs to get another couple years out of it - should be a great long term build but waiting for zen5 is probably what most people will do - professionals will throw their money at the best gear - it is a no brainer and will save lots of time - you should have this in a series - parts 2/3/4. you all insisted on building with case standing up and made it tough on yourselves - a couple big spinning rust drives would have been nice - or 4 to back up all the nvme pls do benchmarks and compare to the old rig #unobtanium obtained
