Therefore we have no scripted or prepared response for what we would do or say in these types of scenarios. A lot of us freeze and don’t do anything bc we’re in such a state of shock that we can’t even respond. It’s happened to me. I'm blind. I've been robbed several times and assaulted twice. I've had cashiers give me back 1s when it should've been 10s or 20s. If you or someone you know is blind and uses cash please get the electronic bill reader so this doesn't happen. Sadly it's not required by law for restaurants to have braille or large print menus. Or for crosswalks and intersection to have beeper indication when its safe to cross. Yet ramps and safety railing and closed captioning are required by law.
That’s messed up. As a former cashier I had a regular who was blind. Even if I was busy I’d take the time to hand him his bills separately and let him know which ones they were so he could fold them the different ways he did

My older brother is completely blind in his right eye and has very poor vision in the other. He can see just enough to function mostly on his own. I hope if something like this ever happened to him, someone would step up to help him. He's also cognitively challenged and I've had to back him up as a kid and into our teens. We're 2 years, 10 months apart in age.
