Thank you so much for showing the gay couple scenario! That was me a few years ago. I was pretty young, early 20s, and he was the first guy that I dated seriously. We went away to a resort town for the first time to have “relations” and the evening didn’t go well. He had performance issues and the script was instantly flipped, on the way he treated me. He went from being normal (he was always a little snippy or condescending, but I wrote it off because I didn’t really recognize it then) to angry, argumentative and impatient. I recognize this was insecurity now but at the time I didn’t know what was going on and was confused and scared. We argued at dinner and afterwards went to a CVS and he started screaming about me taking so long and insulted me. I said something back to him and he punched me. The first time he’d ever hit me. I started sobbing and this couple in the aisle literally came and stood between us. They were angels. They took me back to their hotel and stayed with me in the lobby while I called my dad and ice packed my face. I still send them Christmas cards.

The only one who was there to tell my dad to knock it off was my younger sister. I just kept crying and saying I wanted to go home because of the humiliation I felt.
