LYRICS:
Me and the boys, we was playin’ a show down Colorado way
And when we realized they had legalized, well we thought we'd investigate
Cuz there ain’t nuthin’ better than a little adventure just to shore up band morale
At least till the singer does a few too many milligrams of mis-adventurin' somehow
We were met with a kid, he was born for his job, highly skilled and desirable
Who up till now the world had found to be totally unhireable
He knew the strengths and the names, every hybrid strain that modern science has allowed
He said you don’t have to take it, you don’t even gotta smoke it cuz they make it for ya edible now
I want that old familiar drunken feelin’
Washing over me this evening
I wanna be embraced like an old friend
Heart is racin’, mind is reelin’
That old familiar drunken feelin’
Something I can count on till the end
It's only noon, I'll be fine, showtime ain't till nine, I chewed and I told myself
But as the day wore on and on and on it all went rapidly to hell
I was high as a kite and it was freezin’ outside, I was terrified of people, too
Between shiverin' in the van and hidin' in the can cuz there wasn’t any dressing room
Playin’ a gig was the very last thing that I wanted on my mind
And the best advice that I got all night's when old Skinner did opine
He said don't try to fight it, yeah, you’re just gonna have to try to ride the rank bastard out
So, with that bit of wisdom and herbal terrorism, onstage I was freakin’ out
I want that old familiar drunken feelin’
Washing over me this evening
I wanna be embraced like an old friend
Heart is racin’, mind is reelin’
That old familiar drunken feelin’
Something I can count on till the end
I steeled myself and said, ‘what the hell?’ and proceeded to forget all the lines
It was endless and seemed like a fever dream, western hats and neon signs
So, in a desperate position, made the desperate decision that I'd handle this the cowboy way
Which is to pour enough whiskey on the problem till it catches on fire or it goes away
Shot after shot, just like I was taught, suppressed my feelings by all means
It was a mess I guess, but nonetheless a mess fairly well known to me
So, when the second set came, I was back on my game and here's what I'd recommend
If you think you're gonna die cuz you’re way too freakin' high just drown it all in Pendleton
I want that old familiar drunken feelin’
Washing over me this evening
I wanna be embraced like an old friend
Heart is racin’, mind is reelin’
That old familiar drunken feelin’
Something I can count on till the end

Thanks for watching, Folks. And thanks to @hollercountry for premiering the video!
So good 😂
That’s my cousin Deidri at 4:36 !
Another great one Corb!
So, when are you going to team up with Evin Felker, and the TT's... that would be great!
Come on down to the Gulf Coast!
Loved it!
Come back to Oregon soon Corb.
Corb does it again! An incredibly underrated songwriter! Love this and can't wait to hear the new album. 👏
, ,,,,,,,,,, ,!!
this is the first country song about the modern pot experience it's classic yet modern truly amazing
Kind of like how he's the only guy I know who performs an MMA lifestyle song.
Corb Lund songs are in a class of their own. Literally live everything he puts out.
He played this live in moose jaw last month. The whole crowd laughed. Corb is a legend.
I love my whiskey, but I'm a lot less of a problem on weed. Haha. What a great song.
As a native Coloradoan, i approve this message!! I dont smoke, but i drink, so this song is definitely for me!! And now i can have my fiance who smoke listen to this and have it explain why i dont indulge with her lolol
Welp. I smoke and drink, and Corb nails it! Lol
🤣🤣🤣👍👌
SE Illinois here, quarry country and I second this
My SiriusXM subscription, Outlaw Country in particular, is my favorite thing in my life right now. I wouldn't have discovered this artist or this beautiful video without it.
I wish no one needed chemical help, but until that day comes, let's raise a glass to 2024!
Love it curb
👌🏻
Us motley mob of Oztraluan Aboriginal folk are listening to this while playing very sober* pool/snooker/adult marbles overlooking Recherche Bay (next stop Antarctica) in Tasmania Australia on a balmy night*. Us god fearing folk * down here appreciate your comedy and insight after a hard weeks's fishing fishing fishing cooking and building. Spot the insincerity (see *) and thankyou.
I love the line about handling it the cowboy way... Excellent wordsmithing
Beautiful sky there Corb
Another awesome song too
As someone who has wolfed down many special chocolate bars I can tell you this is dead on.
Been up and back from that road in my 60 years. Stickin with my first true love…Coors! Amen Corb!
Kerrsss
One of your best, and that's a high bar! I wish you would come back to Georgia, or at least close! I was the drunk guy in the front row mouthing along with all your songs last time you were in the area at Smith's Olde Bar in Atlanta. One of the best shows I've ever been to. That was the wrong venue for you, Atlanta folks don't know good music! Why not book Tannery Row in Buford? Anyway, you're one of my all-time favs, right up there with Mark Knopfler.
I had no knowledge of Corb Lund till a few weeks ago when I heard my 6 yo granddaughter sing When The Game Gets Hot. So I got on TH-cam and found old videos and now I’m hooked, thanks to my granddaughter and my son for sharing his taste in music with her!
Ding! You nailed it, again Corb!
This ones going out to all my old friends!!!
This is an instant classic. 200 proof.
So damn, refreshing. Glad to be listening to Corb again
Been into your music for about 3 years now. First song i heard was dig gravedigger dig. Have a 74 mile trip to work. I just search Corb Lund on spotify and let it roll.
Hell yeah ! Heard this song on outlaw country on SiriusXM
Isn’t that from gta 😂
Knocked it out of the park yet again!
The good ol' corb is back and better than ever!
You just knew it was going sideways when he tossed that whole handful of gummies down!🙂

This is so great Corb!!
Made me laugh. Been a big fan for years. Even been to Longview. Miss Ian already.
Perfectly summarizes my experience
Some experts who grew up on Country call you bro-cowboy music, let them mis-out. When Charley Crockett played in Australia everybody knew the words.
Saw him sing this in Grand Rapids a couple days ago! What a great show!❤
Loved it.
You rock Cowboy
Great song, plus a 1st gen Tundra in the video ❤
Excellent show in Windsor Ontario last night, Corb!
Never Tire of the road eh
🍻
New Weekend song! lol
Ahh yes Corb 👍👍👍
Ha love this guy he is real country been listening to his music for years
Thank you corb for making music this long and continuing not to suck.
OMG! Been there in the can as the day wore on and along. But I prefere Canadian Mist over Pendleton. I can get twice the ml of Canadian Mist as opposed to Pendelton.
Great song/video❤️ love it ❤🎶❤ Can't wait for the new album ❤😊
Never fails to make my day....great songwriter....
Good stuff
corb i seen u at the nov 11 stl show u r my favorite singer by far
instant classic
greatest
Hope to see you in Vancouver next year.
This is the new "Boys from Oklahoma" ccr
this song made me smile tonight
Great song i really enjoy this song great job corb this is one of my new favourite songs
Unlike many songwriters, Corb writes such complex lyrics, yea I say stories. Most have a little meat(verse) and a lot of chorus, while his songs have a lot of meat. When you coming back to CO? HAD to work so I couldn't get to the show in Dillon.
Best sorty teller in the business
When Corb is mentioned, Payload by The Smalls starts playing in my head.
Thanks corb.
Beautiful, just acclimated perfect, love the video. Should be proud.
Thank you ❤
Deadly
I am a couple months into in the process of getting divorced (let it go on for 20 years). Finally, I moved to Colorado and got a job at a dispensary. My new family (coworkers) have been the most genuinely loving, honest, kind, patient, and wise group of people nearly half my age, that I've ever been blessed to work with. Best therapy I've ever wanted to never quit. Saved my life, & now I am learning to love again!
That old drunken feeling, LOL. Keep finding you, till you're right.
A budtender may help!
come to Reno!
It has a similar style to London Homesick Blues
Flat-out killer
Thumbs up
She never got me in trouble, but did tell me - "You ain't gonna be doing sh*t today!"
...so, yeah, I guess she DID get me in trouble a time or two.
great job!
He has the tool for it.
Great song thanks
huzzah! Great notion.
Addiction is scary, no matter what exactly you happen to be addicted to. I have passed out on my bathroom floor after getting so drunk I was sure I'd vomit my guts out, then waking up and the good ol' brain _still_ wants another f***ing drink.
Pinned this to the wall Corb. Thank you for the great tune!
Live it
