    My 2 brothers and I grew up on a farm. We had this huge wraparound porch with 3 porch swings and several chairs. My dad would let us sleep out on the porch during a rainstorm, as long as there wasn't a lot of lightning. we would all get our sleeping bags and head for a swing. The wind would keep the swing moving and the rain lulled us to sleep. We never knew until we were grown how mom and dad both would sleep in the living room so they could see out the windows to watch us. Growing up in a town of less than 400 people, there was no crime and those were literally, the best days of my life. This sound definitely takes me back. Thank you!

      Tranquilízate. Tu valoración de Trepat es en todo subjetiva y aquí estás sin que nadie te llame imbécil, ciego o sordo por eso. Acepta y respeta los gustos ajenos como se hace con los tuyos.

    He plays calmly in a way that gives the impression that the scores he is playing are very simple, but they are not. It is his way to deal his instrument that is beautiful. His touch gives the necessary force to create a singing sound. I guess this video shows what music is for, no show off, no unnecessary scales and notes racing each others, no exaggeration in the performance and the body language. That authentic musicality that seeks no titles.
    Thanks for sharing it.

      El Mariachie music has become something of a race, if you can play fast, your good and the faster you can play the better you are. But this is certainly not the case, Keeping his ego out of his performance creating something nothing less the phenomenal. An Incredible performance.

    ya ver la guitarra que presenta, de entrada, como la maga de la magia y la propia guitarra en sí misma, es el sencillo augurio de una humildad del intérprete, como preso él mismo de su sonido y ajeno a lo que va pasar.. una delicada delicia, un éxito que el propio guitarrista no quiere y atribuye a su guitarra, al idioma del arte, que fácil parece, que maravilla.

    I love this performance for a few reasons. First, the musicality amazes me. I personally enjoy the slower, more lyrical compositions. Second, it is filmed in a way that allows me to watch the technique. So often concerts are filmed with the subject too distant or with the frame constantly changing views. Third, Trepat is caressing the instrument, not raising his nose in the air in a grand display of arrogance like some performers, as if it should be all about them and not the music. He seems geuinely humble.
    I saw Pepe Romero perform Concierto de Aranjuez in El Paso years ago. It was a fine concert. I and others spoke to him aftetwards. He was very friendly and interested in the people there, not at all arrogant, despite his virtuosity and accomplishments. I saw another performer, whom I won't name. His arrogance screamed so loud I couldn't hear the notes he played.

    • @genustinca5565
      @genustinca5565 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Something else to Trepat's credit: his reportoire is not solely based on famous or virtuoso pieces. Many of the pieces - in terms of technical skill - are quite approachable for even intermediate players. That shows he's mainly interested in the musicality of his repertoire.

    My last guitar teacher would have smacked his left hand. She was a perfectionist as regards technique. Trepat is a little unorthodox with his left hand. But he plays so beautifully. He touches the heart in a way that the more pyrotechnic guitarists seldom do. I literally find myself breathless, mesmerized by what he brings out of the guitar. He plays this most intimate of instruments in a way that it is meant to be played, with heart and soul. Love him!

      @Dan Ghofrani I can only comment as regards the technique I was taught. I don't pretend it's the 'right' way to play classical guitar because I personally believe that different styles, as long as they allow you to progress and play more difficult work as you build your repertoire. happen naturally, and are absolutely acceptable. My last teacher, Gabrielle Kish, was not of the same mind. She. insisted, for example, that the left hand must be elevated more than Trepat does, in order that the left hand fingers are coming straight down on the strings, not at an angle. She insisted that this was the best technique, allowing you to play more difficult pieces as your technique 'solidified'. It felt awkward at first, but, once it became second nature, it did actually mean very precise and clean connection with the strings, with just the very tips of the fingers making contact wherever you played on the neck. The result was as she said - I could play my existing repertoire much more cleanly and progressed to much more difficult music, like Albeniz' Leyenda, which I could not manage well before. With bar chords, the first finger was rolled/placed so that the front of the finger made contact, right behind the fret. Trepat plays with the back or the flat of the first finger making connection at the fret. If I remember right, he sometimes uses two fingers at times to make the bar across the neck, for added strength. Kish would never have tolerated that. As I said, I can see that Trepat's technique works perfectly well.It makes for fine performances, obviously. I love the way he plays. Apologies for the length of this response. It is hard to be brief about the fine details of differing techniques.

      @Dan Ghofrani I concur with everything you say about technique. Too rigid control of technique - by any master teacher, including Segovia - can potentially hold a student back. Done right, with patience, it can help the student through the most difficult of works. But yes, finally, there comes a time when, having made effective technique integral to the way one plays, a student can transcend technique and find their own artistry and manner of playing. Then comes the magic you describe - of playing, relaxed and fluid, discovering new ways to meet difficulties and bring more out of the instrument. I think it's also beautifully visceral, when you are in those moments, your brain and body working so well together that you're not even conscious of it. When you find yourself doing wonderful things, spontaneously, with a new kind of grace you never so much as imagined before. And lastly, I will have to listen to/watch Tavi Jinariu. That's a new name to me. Thank you.

    Cela fait 4 fois que je regarde cette vidéo qui a d'incontestables vertus pédagogiques grâce à une sonorité singulière, unique, idéale (!?), une justesse dans le phrasé et les nuances qui nous font aimer chaque pièce de façon égale; le programme est idéal et les couleurs de l'Espagne sont là à leur sommet, et c'est bien ainsi que je conçois la musique.Bravo Carles Trepat qui met en avant la beauté du répertoire traditionnel, unique de l'Espagne.

    My favourite classical guitar video. A great guitar player, with a superb guitar and strings, beautifully captured on film. This shows us what we've lost in our race to be louder, brighter, faster. Classical guitar perfection.

      +Rob MacKillop Rob, Jose Romanillos (in 'Antonio Torres: Guitar Maker - his life & work') doubts that the great luthier "was wholly responsible for this instrument" which has undergone modifications - not to be wondered at for a antique. No 'recording chain' can provide perfect reproduction of sound (variable according to venue acoustic properties anyway) but it can be heard to better effect via Trepat's CD 'Musica espanyola per a guitarra: Del romanticisme al nacionalisme' - comprising music by Llobet, Tarrega, Arcas, Aguado, Antonio Jose (la ma de guido LMG 2012G).

      +Michael Clayton Hi Michael. I'm aware of Romanillos's comments - I have the book. I agree about the CD recordings being better reproductions of the sound. But it's great to see him play, and to view the mojo of the instrument :-) Are you aware that he has a SoundCloud account? He has uploaded an entire album of the Catalan folksongs, plus music by Granados. It's wonderful, and free.

Vaig retrocedir en el temps gràcies a ell i amb ell em quedo!! ✨❤️👏🥳
