I totally agree with you : MTH is the most creative, mind blowing and funny metal band of all times, imposing themselves no limits in their music.
I'm a 51 years old rock/metal fan and (a poor) guitarist, and no other band has given me so much pleasure to listen and to see this last 40 years!
Multi-talented, funny and loveable they are. Wizards, geniuses! ❤️
Hope to see them live in France one day...

thanks for your comments! they're very fun and i wish to see them in the US one day, too. they've been releasing more and more new music (slowly, though) so i'm hoping we get a new album and tour :)

And you're right on several points :
    - Not required to understand japanese to love their songs, the lyrics fit surprisingly and naturally to the ear and to the riffs.
    - Ryo riffs are not always too hard to play on guitar and are gratifying. I guess it's often Drop C.
    - Ue-Chan bass technics are not very common on metal and so is big part of their sound identity.
Like your videos, just keep on! 😉🎸

    GREAT VIDEO!
Maximum the Hormone is one of my favorite bands EVER, this video was a godsend for me, is awesome to see a more technical perspective and analysis on the things you love
By the way, can you do the same thing with Diablo Swing Orchestra? It's my favorite band, and the only one I know that can come with even crazier genre mash-ups and ideas than MTH

I first found them back when Death Note was coming out (I was already into metal so it straight up caught my attention). What I enjoy the most about them is the diversity of sounds they have in their songs, from Pop to rock to Punk to Metal, it's crazy good. All of this mix of sounds just makes each different part of the music more distinct and engaging. Take for example when they start with Pop and transition to metal, the impact is way bigger and more interesting.

Im glad to see someone "get" MtH. To me theyve always been a hardcore band as a base layer then other genres are the topings. Theyve been my favorite band for years and i even paid 56 bucks for a copy of buikikaesu back in 2012 because i couldnt access their music outside of AMVs

Saw them live last year and met the band too, was certainly an event i never expected in my life and it was fantastic.
Their bassist is one of those players that just completely elevates their sound and im usually not in to slap bass but he utilises it so well.
I think in terms of boundary pushing they're not as groundbreaking as they are usually touted as. Their core sound is very much Nu-metal tinged with a lot of skater rock and they do break away from that for sections of songs or even entire movements but they do always fall back to their classic sound, sure it keeps the songs interesting and goes against the norm but its not like each album has a unique flavour or explores a different side of their sound. And unfortunately im not a fan of much before rokkinpo gorishi so i wouldnt put them as one of my favourites but i do sincerely think theyre wonderful, just not quite diverse enough to be one of my all times. That being said go see them if you get the chance!

I knew MTH after Deathnote. But just a few songs like: Whats up people, Zetsubou Billy, Koi no mega lover, Shimi and Chuchu.
    Then i lost track.
I rediscovered them 2 Years ago. And i love every f***ing song.
I ordered all CD's and DVD's/Bluray's from Japan.
When you are in the MTH hole, its hard to find another band you can enjoy, they are the Best. MTH is the reason i'm learning Japanese.
I flew to London in June last year because of MTH (i'm from austria by the way).
The only Band i am able to enjoy after MTH is Band-Maid, but not on the same Level.
I don't know what to say.......MTH for ever
