I hate to correct the expert. I had one of these. It has an AR style selector on the left side for full auto or semi auto fire. The toggle on the right side of the firearm is actually for safe and fire. So to correct him, there is a semi-auto (select fire) option on this gun.

It does in fact have safe-semi-auto the safety is on the right side and fire selector on the left side.
And the example they had is in 9x19mm, just look at the magazine, the .45acp magazine is a modified M3 magazine, but the one in the video looks like a double stack double feed 9mm mag, maybe a Walther MPL/-MPK mag?

Regarding 'no semi': I have a PS MAC in 9mm. It has full/semi option. I think this must be an error - you can see the selector (similar to M16 selector) on the left side, then on the right (just like mine) is the safe/fire slider. If that isn't a selector, what does it do? If full-auto only, all you would need is the sliding safety on the right side.

In 1992 I moved from long island, NY to Brunswick, Ga. I remember walking into an auto parts store/gun Store--seperated by plastic strips. Got two quarts of oil on the right and you could by a tech 9 on the left, an sks would set you back 89.00 and ammo was cheaper than dirt. People had gun racks in their pick up trucks and lots of guys had bersa 380s in the glove box. Nobody died. I would see holster carry quite often and people shot targets in the back yard. If a sherrifs deputy came by, you probably new him by his first name, where he played golf and where he liked to fish. It was a different world back then.

The M10/45 is definitely select fire with Safe/Semi/Full auto. The selector he was flipping on the left side of the gun is Full/Semi and the one on the right side is Safe/Fire. Also that is an M10/9 magazine on the table and the gun is an M10/9 as well. You can tell it's not a .45 by the mag well and the barrel. Lastly, MAC-10 is a colloquial term but not the formal name of the gun, MAC stands for Military Armament Corporation.

Thanks for speaking out about that John Wayne reference. I thought I was the only one here who remembered that movie, with that very well known actor, with that particular firearm. Being the suppressed MAC-10.
If my memory serves me correctly, Kurt Russell, portraying, Snake Plissken also used a suppressed MAC-10 but with a rifle scope. When Snake was captured, Issac Hayes as the Duke of New York, used Plissken’s issued gun to taunt Donald Pleasence as the President “...of what?”
John Wayne was the protagonist in McQ, NOT a villain. Just like Kurt Russell was also the protagonist who used that same gun, but an anti-hero. It’s amazing that the two Americans who hosted this video, totally did not mention these movie facts of two American made movies.
After all, what is more American than John Wayne? The answer: NOTHING is more American than John Wayne except:
      1.> The Flag
      2.> Declaration of Independence
      3.> The Constitution
      4.> John Wayne

I had the MAC-11(9MM) and it was probably the fastest submachine gun I ever fired. Note the swivel on the base of the barrel. They came with a strap loop that your hand fit in. If you stuck your finger up when firing, it was gone. Like in the movies, there actually was a functional brief case available for these guns. The brief case is now illegal to own. There was a suppressor for the 9MM, and it did stop the noise from the round going off, but you still got a "Snap" from the bullet. I tried downloading bullets but could not get the gun to function reliably. Still in a closed room it sounded like a kid's cap gun.

surprisingly the welds on the m11/9 frames are pretty solid and the gun almost feels like a milled firearm. its a hefty piece of steel but that just reminds you of its responsibilities and capabilities not to mention the convenience of the 3/4 threading on the barrel to mount longer barrels of R.I.S and muzzle devices.

The Intratec TEC-9 was another cheaply made stamp sheet metal but just a plain sub gun that could be easily converted to an SMG that got in the action movies and TV shows in the 80s typically used by the bad guys. The Ingram MAC 10 and 11 also but it was a SMG and got more exposure than the TEC-9 sub gun. Although the TEC-9 is probably more infamous as being used in a school shooting and as a gang and crime syndicate gun. It was banned under the Clinton gun ban. A newer model was used the Colorado school shooting and a synagogue shooting. Intratec was dissolved in 2001. Thanks for sharing.
    From Wiki:
"Still, the design was deemed too easy to convert to an automatic weapon. Due to this, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) forced Interdynamic USA to redesign the firearm into a closed-bolt system, which was harder to convert to an automatic weapon. This variant was called the KG-99, and was popularized when it made frequent appearances on the popular television show Miami Vice, where it was legally converted to full auto by Title II manufacturers."
