It's the way all of us asked for when they started to work for the container and this was refused as idea. Sexan, the author, is amazing! He have made something very very very useful and ergonomic. He demonstrated it is possible and easy, putting in the corner the implemented container way. Fantastic job. And of course: mandatory to have on the main toolbar 🙂
I was following development for a long time, and I just can't understand how they come to the conclusion to implement container feature the way they did. People had so many good ideas. I ve been asking for this feature for 10 years now, and that's how they did it. I'm just heartbroken. Thanks to saxan for giving us at least something useful out of the mess devs did.

I super agree with you. When REAPER 7 came out, I was a little bummed with the user experience for Parallel FX and Containers. Even explained with graphs and all, yea you kinda get it. But this script is what ultimately makes everything CLICK. Like you finally understand all the possibilities. If it wasn't for this script, I wouldn't have even attempted setting up this multi-band processing thing. Well, I actually I did and failed. The reason I was mostly bummed was that: there's no easy way to solo each container. How am I supposed to hear the isolated bands and all the processing I was doing? Also, blending the volume of each signal was a pain. Too many clicks. The whole experience kinda sucked. And I can't imagine being a beginner or even just average user and try to do all these things. I think this scripts solves a major UX fail. And it solves it so well. So well that I think it's perfectly reasonable to make it native at one point, which I hope they do. This script makes this kind of processing way more accessible, and that's how REAPER things should be.
@@reapertips_plus these kind of experiences are the ones that are keeping medium and big studios and industry far away from Reaper. I can't blame them. They need structured environment not basement one :-/ (I'm very sad to tell this). Another example: the files and folders management in Reaper was the biggest c**p ever made in a DAW, for almost 2 decades. Totally unacceptable from any small/medium/large industry point of view. When the 7th started to be developed, I submitted them (Cockos forum) my tutorial about how to setup reaper the very first time asking if it wasn't time to implement structures. I was not the only one to suggest this way, also Kenny did it in one of his videos, also Jon Tidey did it and others. I was not certainly hoping they took it into consideration this request, believe me. Fortunately they have considered it and they created default settings as they must be on any respectable DAW (yeah). It's way more reliable in this way. This kind of issue kept me far away from Reaper for a decade, and not only me. Now in the 7th there is this default settings and if you save a project you get the subfolders inside the main project folder. However here again some flaw: if you don't save the project, everything is contained inside the general media folder, and as I shown on my tutorial: this is damn dangerous (if you are not a hobbyist that make one song per time). So I asked BEFORE the 7th was released and BEFORE the RC (release Candidate), to make default for the user to save the project upfront anything (they could deactivate it into the preferences, if they desire). It was like to say "hey I'm the bad guy that loves to create you difficulties" ... and I got bad reactions on my proposal in favour of nerdy cumbersome and dangerous solution: keep the things as they are. So ppl will risk (again) to damage several projects while they are working on their projects, because they are deleting files from the main MEDIA folder (if they are not aware ... and there are many as it's normal and obvious ...). I hope in the next 20 years they will get this point. How one can guessing a Studio that's working on several projects at the same time, and tries to work with Reaper the first time (so: do not really knowing Reaper's default behaviour) can even far away accept this way to work? That's a pity 😕
@@reapertips_plus All great points. Personally, I use Melda Production's MXXX plugin in phase linear multi band mode (up to 6 splits) , plus you can customize the slope between bands. So much easier to solo and/or mute or bypass individual bands, and you can save setups and chains as an FX patch. It changed my workflows for the better by a long shot. Cheers
just installed this and its already been updated to have this setup included in one click, plus 4 and 5 band splitters and a mid/side splitter....just wonderful stuff
You don't need to create 3 extra tracks to route the bands using your old method. Just have the FX going into the channels they should affect (1/2, 3/4 or 5/6) and you'll just use one track
Thanks Alejandro, I hesitated to try this script, but you convinced me how it's far better than the R7 default containers and a must have ! And big up to Sexan who created this awesome script !
@@inglesfluente2693 - If you run extreme slopes, like 128db/Oct, maybe. But The Worrall setup is phase linear. Watch his tutorial. Even if you don't use it, there's much solid info regarding phase linearity in it.
LOL that's incredible, totally by coincidence I solved multiband for myself as well via containers and the Sexan script. Struggled a bit with wiring, took some tries, but now the container is saved and I'll never have to do it again.

I'm currently exploring other DAW's I'd like to try and multi-band processing is a big part for me. I do love how the structure works here, it reminds of the better visual programming languages I've used, but I do have some questions: 1. Can I just add any FX VST to any of the bands? 2. How flexible am I in routing all this? Will they always have to come back together in one point at the same time? Or can I combine the mid and high first, add FX to those, and then bring them back together with the lows after? 3. can I create splits within the splits? 4. coud I still send these signals to separate output channels? 5. could I add signals from other sources and combine them within here? Like processing the low end from a bass instrument together with a kick 6. can I feed a signal backwards? for example to create advanced delay FX. I know it's a lot I'm asking so thank you very much for your answer.
This is my new favorite thing. I had nothing else planned for today. I guess this is what I'm going to play with. I has kind of a early 1990's MS-DOS kind of look and feel, but it rocks.
Is there something like wave editor in Reaper? I wanna open an audio file and look closely on it. Make cut a few samples or apply an effect. How do I do that?
Hey! Does anyone know why all of Suzukis scripts on reaper have a lower resolution of the plugins in Windows? Almost like how a 32 bit app looks if its run on a 64bit computer
So I don't have a question about this in particular but a question about reapack. I've tried to import all the repositories into reaper but I keep getting errors basically saying there was a problem. What could I do to fix this?
Thanks! With this 3rd party script and reaper 7 reaper has somewhat nearly caught up with the competition in that regard. Still clunky, and using tracks has obvious benefits (send cascades and automating via faders which makes it easier with input controllers). I hope they listen a bit more to the community. UX shootouts and A/B experiments in reaper development would be nice!
One big problem with the Reaper Freq Splitter ... you can't adjust the slope of the crossover. Dan Worrall's - Reaper Tip: Make a 3 Band Linear Phase Crossover is MUCH more flexible (and you can customize the slope), and you can save it as a track template. th-cam.com/video/951MnO8M1Qs/w-d-xo.html
Was wondering about a solution. The band splitters I found (e.g. I use Saike) let you define crossover freq., but not slope, I wonder if there's a jsfx script capable of that... I see Dan W uses multiple instances of ReaFir, but I think making changes, e.g. in the crossover frequency, may be clunky, because you have to make a change in 2 instances of ReaFir.
@@Tortuosit No doubt, but having more flexibility and ability to taylor the slope to fit the music has benefits. Plus, the phase linearity is important.
Great video, thank you! Quick question: I love the FX insert buttons on the TCP of your custom theme and, altough I like the feature, I'm not a fan of how the FX insert window looks in the default theme... Is there a way to implement that specific part of your theme into the default Reaper 7 theme? Thank you :)
I've been a logic user for 20 years. I put in a lot of time in Reaper and had great hopes for this DAW. However one of the most basic operations that is a no brainier in every other DAW does not work for me in Reaper. I can not pan. All that happens when I move the pan left and right is that the volume decreases. No one seems to be able to solve this problem so I'm thinking of going back to logic. If anyone on this channel can help, I would love to hear from you.thanks
If you have ANY automation on the volume or pan, you can't use those knobs anymore -- they get instantly reset to the value in the automation envelope. So select the track, hit the "P" key, right click on the pan envelope that just appeared , and select "Clear or remove envelope". Now try the pan knob.
Why when you show old method, click the solo button on low end - there is sounding everything else - the mids end highs - but quiter ? if you soloed the highs - same thing? this 3 band splitter works not like regular multiband splitter. I foun that - "Saike 4 pole Band Splitter" works how it use to be. Low is low, mid is mid , high is high - and nothing extra sounds
Anyone else unable to add AU plugins using this interface? Also seems like if I add the 3-Band Splitter FX on the track, the open the Paranormal FX router window and try to add the Band Select FX, that doesn't work either. Both not a big deal, still really cool
