  • Here’s one walk through of a solution to fix the SOS System Limited Functionality when the general warning and information message lamp illuminates with that statement on a new Land Rover Defender, Model Year 2022.
From what I can read on the forums (search for the following on land rover forums: /sos-limited-functionality-warning) it seems to be a low (or dead) battery within the TCU module that provides this message.
If you are within warranty; it should be covered and your dealership can fix it.
I was out of warranty with 52,500 miles; and decided to change the battery myself.
The TCU module is located on the driver side passenger area behind a panel (C pillar - closer to the door latch).
To change yourself you will need the following part:
LR 132077 (battery - was $80 in Los Angeles)
Torx 10 (to open battery compartment)
Whatever else makes you feel comfortable when opening interior body panels
Note: the lower body panel has the following clips (top to bottom)
    White Pop Clip
    Yellow Clip (I broke this)
    White Pop Clip
    Metal Pop Clip
It could be easier to remove the whole panel; however I couldn’t figure that out; definitely more difficult if it’s partially removed. Be careful to not lose the tiny screw.
Hope this helps you with the step by step of fixing this general warning message.
