With this release, we’re delivering the toolsets we’ve been using internally to build and ship ‘Fortnite Chapter 5,’ ‘Rocket Racing,’ ‘Fortnite Festival,’ and ‘LEGO Fortnite.’
Highlights include substantial updates to both in-editor and gameplay animation features, significant rendering enhancements, an extended virtual production toolset, improved developer iteration, and much more.

At this point i'm convinced they're gonna release new and improved real lives with UE 6.
UE6 is just gonna be one giant megacomputer which controls reallife weather, volumetric clouds and sun rays XD

This is the best time to be a 3D animator and I really want to use unreal engine 5 to animate things.

As an animator who just started learning CG character animation a couple years ago in Blender, these new UE animation tools look very approachable!
Amazing work! Now the only thing’s missing is the motion matching sample with the animations so we can study more of this tool.
I cant even begin how amazing this update is. The motion graphics, sequencer, viewport, outliner, quick retarget.. just amazing.

you all should try one day to play a future videogame named "Portugal: Rise of the Ornurenses" that will launch on Steam and it will be made on Unreal Engine 5 in a few years
This game is a sci fi game set in Portugal where a young man named Sérgio created several robots in shape of mythical creatures for an exposition at the Web Summit... in this game players can play as one of this robotic mythical creatures like Griffins, Chimeras, Werewolves, Gargoyles and many others and complete quests across places like Sintra... I should not give too much spoilers but this game in the future will have expansions and players will be able to explore the full Portugal from north to south and even some alien planets as well in this new "pagan and robotic Portugal"

when Nanites are able to work with all the characters, it`s game over for retopology! Some day....
Does anyone know how to control gizmos with middle mouse button like in the video? When I press mmb it just do panning like before. Is there a setting for it?
Apparently, it's a new plugin. You gotta enable in in the plugins. Called TRS Gizmo. Then again enable it in the editor preferences. Search for gizmo and you'll see it. It doesn't support snapping though.
new TRS gizmos dont allow you to alt+click and drag to create duplicate?
unreal updates with new features, is faster than me learning it..
I don't understand the in-editor animation and rigging stuff.
From what I gather, can you automatically rig the unrigged model in-editor by just adding the module asset to the project?
Or does the skeletal mesh need to have bones and weight paint integrated before bringing the assets in?
I believe the model should be rigged before hand and then you can easily animate the character using the new IK feature which move the adjuscent body part accordingly

Also nice to virtual scene improvements, but still feels like distance still has its faults or background type used.
Anytime I see developments in Motion Design I immediately await new sports graphics packages for NCAA sports broadcasts 😂

I have a question as Unity dev, when Unreal have new version can you update your project it its new version? Is this like Long term supported version? or it is coming out like in beta version first and it is not stable? help me understand
It has just come out of Beta and is now part of the stable release versions. As for upgrading your project version, for the most part, yes your project can be updated seamlessly to the latest version of UE5 with the click of a couple of buttons. Only under rare circumstances would you not be able to update to the latest version, but usually it's only a couple of alterations. Hope this answers your question

@@branidev It depends on whether you prefer Unreal Engines built-in Blueprint (Node based system, no hardcoding required) or you have extensive C++ coding experience, Mixing between the two is pretty common practice, although it is totally plausible to create a game in Blueprints alone. There is a vast amount of information through official documentation and TH-cam with step by step guides and sample projects available for both Blueprints and C++. The best way I could sum-up Unreal Engine, Very easy to learn and pick up, but hard to master. You will always be accumulating knowledge to add to your Game Dev arsenal 😄

You just enable tessellation in the material options and plug data into the displacement node, make sure u got nanite on tho

I would like to see an improvement in upgrading the project to a new engine version without corrupting the project, I had problem from 5.0 > to 5.1 > to 5.2 and now I don't trust it anymore

JUST TO MAKE SURE SOMEONE READS THIS. The Motion Movement Component (Mover 2.0) is now included but theres ZERO documentation on how to get it even into the Player Character Blueprint... Not even on reddit nor discord anybody knew how to do this. Again great documentation from Epic releasing CRITICAL stuff that was needed years ago and then not giving any examples.
