Bo Burnham has deleted all of his posts on social media, or at least Twitter and Instagram, as well as all of his albums predating INSIDE. He has also changed his profile picture on all platforms to that of the sea. What could this all mean? Is he working on something? Or is he dead? If we're to believe what Bo once said on his website, he'd supposedly die on January 17th, 2024. Does this all mean anything at all? Only time will tell.
I know this isn't a very good video and making this video kind of messed with my schedule a bit and stuff but I don't care fuck you. I made this video in like a night because I couldn't resist the urge to talk about this. I had an exam the next day (today) ((it went ok)), I didn't sleep last night just to make this video. But now that I've talked about it I'm going to get back to making actually good videos, on to Sonny Boy... - บันเทิง
UPDATE: Besides putting all the songs back up, Bo has just republished all of his tweets dating from May 14th 2013 to May 23rd 2013. Some are speculating that this weird move might have something to do with Zach Stone Is Gonna Be Famous, seeing how these tweets were made during the same timeframe that that show was being released (May 2nd - June 29th 2013). Bo has also been on record a couple times saying that if he ever wanted to do a Zach Stone season 2, it would be ten years later when all the characters have grown up.
NEW UPDATE: Okay nevermind, bitch just removed all his tweets again, literally what is going on?
NEW NEW UPDATE: Bo has been counting down from 6 over the last couple days using his instagram posts, if the countdown resolves regularly, then it's supposed to end this friday.

Said this elsewhere but it really reminds me of the end of the movie The Truman Show. Right as Truman has stolen a sailboat and sailed across the fake world that has surrounded him his entire life while his every moment is aired for our amusement, he reaches the edge of the set and steps through a door, upon which he can no longer be seen by his lifelong fans and gets to experience reality off-camera for the first time in his life.

5:30 the ocean horizon picture sure reminds me of the ending of The Truman Show where Truman sails to the edge of his fake world, finds a staircase that leads to a door, and finally takes his first step outside away from the view of the rest of the human species.
If he quits I will cry. Like, I hope he's happy and it quitting makes him feel better, he should do it, but that won't stop me from crying myself to sleep for a month.
I'm still hoping for Zach Stone season 2
Bo once said that if he'd ever do a Zach Stone season 2, it would be when all the characters were grown up who knows
He most recently directed a one-woman theatre performance starring Kate Berlant. I saw it in LA last week. It was incredible, and had a lot of similar themes to his previous work.
I suspect that after Eighth Grade and directing a few stand-up specials that he is finding more success as a director. I hope we see more of this from him, and I hope that he is finding a fulfilling way to live his creative life without needing to confront his performance anxiety.
This actually brings a whole new perspective, wow, thank you. To think he's working with Kate Berlant after lovingly talking about her work for so long is kind of heartwarming.
Inside was awesome and rather successful and took place after Eight Grade ;) I'm fairly sure he has not gone away or left anything behind. He's continuing to express himself in a myriad of ways, and sometimes that takes time :P

All that I DO know is that I hope he’s alive, I hope he’s well, and I really hope he finds a happy/ comfortable place in his world.
This comment kind of made me think about how irresponsible it is of Bo to make people worry like this by referencing the 17th of january date after having released a pretty dark piece like INSIDE, if anything he should make a post saying he's not dead, because he is not dead, and anyone trying to convince people he is is just trying to get attention

@@olafsomethingput the whole point of inside, or at least a part of the whole point, was that the outside objective world seems to matter very little to what he cares about. Our worries, our struggles, all of the stuff that we endure, whether it be a result of him or not, is out of his control. He will only do what he does, and he has no reason to explain it to anyone else.

bo has been doing a pattern i have noticed, in 2016 he made "make happy" then left until 2018 with "eighth grade" then "inside" came out and the outtakes, then nothing. i think he going to make something BIG and then go away for the next year or two. (maybe i just had the idea now)
That is kind of just Bo's work ethic, he's talked about how he's annoyed by artists who constantly show their faces to stay relevant (his rants back in 2016 mainly related this to late night talk shows). Bo's of the opinion that if you just keep your head down and work on a thing for a while, no matter how many "are you dead?" comments you might get (wow this fits perfectly right now, I should've put that in the video), people will just watch your stuff if it's good. And the only way to make good stuff is by spending a lot of time on a project, instead of "just throwing out seeds amd not waiting for them to grow", because that will just lead to a constant "IV-drip of mediocre content". So the fact that Bo is invisible for years in between his projects is just normal Bo behavior.

It would be fucking amazing if Bo's stunt here was to announce a new project. If Bo is wanting to make a project about the metaphorical death of an artist (himself), it would be really cool as you could think of "Inside" being Bo hiding "inside" of himself and letting some demon talk for him like what happens with a multitude of his songs. So yeah this better be another project.
For the waters part, I have a theory that it could be a metaphor for baptism in that people are "baptized" to wash the sins away and become a new person. For Bo, these "sins" could be his artist side, which would be really cool to explore.
From everything he's said about it, I'm kind of surprised he had social media accounts at all.

The Inside Outttakes ends with a stock footage clip of the ocean, so that could be why he picked a photo of the ocean as his profile picture.
Probably incorrect prediction: the pfp is the going to be the background of his next album "Outside," an album about going back outside after quarantine.
Idk why that came to mind when you said the word "outside" while talking about the pfp and I wanted to say it on the very tiny chance I'm right
I think there's a big chance that it's a reference to being "outside" and the lyrics "you say the oceans rising like I give a shit" and "the ocean at your door", but I'm hoping there's more to it. We'll see if your prediction ends up being correct, only time will tell

Holy shit major sudden epiphany, I'm kinda regretful that I made this video so hastily because now I can't incorporate this into it anymore but:
I was watching the final Goodbye song from INSIDE and there was this one lyric where when I heard it everything just clicked, namely the lyric "So long, goodbye, I'll see you when I see you. You can pick the street. I'll meet you on the other side."
'The other side' is a possible reference to three things.
1: Just pandemic stuff, social distancing and whatnot (cringe interpretation ngl)
2: The distance between that there will always be between performer and audience member, even when meeting in real life
3 (and this is the one I'm obsessed with right now): The symbolic phrasing of the afterlife, after death.

I also just realized that it ties into the chicken song at the end of the INSIDE outtakes, the famous joke "Why did the chicken cross the road? To get to the other side", since it's also a wordplay on death. Before Bo plays the Chicken Song in the INSIDE outtakes he also says "I know the last song seemed like it should've been the last song, but this is actually the last song" which makes it feel like he actually really wanted to make this joke of "why did the chicken cross the road, to get to the other side" the final conclusion of all his work. Because in a way it would fit perfectly, although it would maybe be too vague. It's the most classic and possibly most famous joke ever, representing his comedy career, but also it's a reference to death, referencing his end as a comedian.
The discussion around the profile pic seems to come down to a consensus that it's referencing the lyrics "The whole world at your fingertips, the ocean at your door" and "You say the ocean's rising like I give a shit, you say the whole world's ending honey it already did" as well as the final couple seconds from the INSIDE outtakes where we see ocean waves crashing on a shore (a rising tide?). But I'm starting to think more and more that it's maybe the opposite, that those lyrics and final seconds from the outtakes were a reference to whatever he's trying to convey with this ocean profile pic, like he was very quietly foreshadowing this all along.

@@p0g. I don't really know what you mean with a timeline but a year after he released inside Bo posted an hour of outtakes from the special, and the final second of that hour is just a shot of some ocean waves.

I honestly think Bo is moving on... or at least wants to. Inside, arguably his Magnum Opus (kind of) ends with "Goodbye" a song that if you think about it, kind of sounds like him retiring, as if he's saying that "So this is how it ends" and asking "Hey, here's a fun idea how 'bout I sit on the couch and I watch you next time?" and even ending with the lyrics from "look who's inside again" a song that sounds like it's about his origins as a comic, so to have a song so thematically tied to the origins of his career and leaving a place or thing behind, it makes sense that this might be it for him.

he had his time back when I was like 15, not everyone needs to be famous all their lives. He's clearly struggles with his mental health, always had. His mentality isn't fit for showbusiness.

i grew up watching bo as an 11yo in 2006 and i liked him ever since but after watching INSIDE im floored. i dont even actually have words to describe it. it was the most raw, real emotionally moving peice of art that i have ever seen in my life. i watched it a week ago and im still trying to process it.

I believe that "killing himself" is a symbolic representation of the notion of cancellation or the death of an artist persona. Maybe his next project will be about change and the paradoxon of change as an artist, as a person as a physical being. I think INSIDE set changed his performane a lot in terms of how he can convey his messages. He said in 'Make Happy' that his art is always about performing and this ties really well into the absurdity of the artist persona, how from an objective view the artist is a genius, a true creator, perhaps a perfect person and if it's taken away, the question remains: what's left? The person, who used to be the artist or just an empty shell of a person. I'm just speculating but this is a very "Bo" thing to talk about and create a special where he attends his own funeral or views a reality where he ceases to exist. Also ties in to the current multiverse trend which I know he would make fun of.

I don't know what he's up to with this move, but if he's setting new stuff I always thought that instead of returning to comedy specials he could do a sort of live album with his Inside songs called "Outside", blurring the lines between comedian and musician even more.

I think, maybe he just wants peace. I was depressed for a long time in my life, i always listened to Bo. I had the feeling that he was depressed too, so that gave me a kind of ,,i can understand, what is going on with your life, what you think about the world and the most of the people''. Well a couple Months ago i nearly killed myself. I never expected that to happen, but a lot of things came together. I am now happier. Probably still not clean from the depression, but it has gotten better. I guess it was because i started dreaming again. I want to have peace. My dream is to move to an island and to open a Shop. Maybe he just wants peace. From the past. From the celebrity status. Maybe he just wanted to show that he's now searching for peace, or already experiencing it. (i hope so) He was inside. Now he is outside. Seeing the nice ocean, in front of his eyes. I think that's a nice thought. Even though it could be that the ocean, that he shows on his profile picture is the place where he gonna drown himself. (that's the part, i don't hope for) We just have to pray, that it's the first thought.

For some reason he didn’t delete any songs off of Apple Music (what I use.) This gives me hope that the songs will come back on Spotify at some point or in the bad ending it’ll be taken down on Apple Music soon too.
