      @@VicBarry just bought this a month back and shot more pictures than video on the first trip. I couldn’t do proper video because the settings were all over the place. Regarding photos - quite good I just say. One shouldn’t expect Sony A1 level of dynamic range (which I actually found to be a bit below par) and one must not crop the photo too much because of a lack of resolution. Otherwise 12MP decent enough for photos. That’s my initial impressions. I’ll post links to my photos soon..

    In picture profile 11, would it likely require color grading or any post work or is there a PP or creative color that you suggest (for shots with people primarily).

    Vic, I saw another video about the dual ISO and how the camera can be grainy at say 8000 but at 12600 it switches to the second ISO and grain goes down? Can you do a video on best way to use this in low light and maximise the dual ISO?

  • @MollyFitzBrown
    @MollyFitzBrown 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I tend to shoot in Auto all the time cause I’m “on the go” vlogging, but I know the zve1 does so good in low lighting I want to get the best of it. what setting would you suggest I switch to if I’m going to be like on a dark ride or outside at night? Like a certain iso range that work best? Auto works pretty good but I sometimes get the low light strobe effect still on footage.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey Molly. Try shutter priority instead of full auto. Use 1/50 and the camera will do the rest. Ultimately though for low light (depending on how much low light) you’re best bet is take the iso off auto and during it to 12800. This is the “2nd” base iso in the zv-e1. Chances are you may need an nd filter to darken the image as it’ll be super bright but at the some time it won’t be very noisy.
      As for the strobing effect this is to do with light frequency more than anything. For a start try changing the shutter speed slightly and see how that goes. There’s more in-depth settings that you can change that may help but start with the shutter speed.

    • @MollyFitzBrown
      @MollyFitzBrown 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@VicBarry Thank you for such an in depth reply! I'm going to try playing around with both those settings and see how it goes. I vlog at Disney a lot and some rides are real dark with little spotlights on animatronics and I was getting some jittery-ness on Pirates of the Caribbean. I tend to shoot in 4k 30 though so should I use 1/60? Would you recommend I do that all the time instead of auto, not just for low light?
      I also like to use Catalyst Browse sometimes to stabilize footage, since I'm going all handheld, would you suggest I use Active or Dynamic instead with these settings or while in low light?
      Thanks again for all the help! I have my fist "media" invite this weekend and wanting the best quality.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Impossible to figure out, but a few thoughts - What lens are you using? Does it have a manual / af switch? Did you hit that by accident so the lens is on manual mode, and that will override the camera setting.
      What frame rate / mode are you in. As far as I know it's available in all modes, but worth seeing what mode you're in.
      Failing the above, might be worth doing a settings reset.

    This is a superbly informative guide for a beginner. I was recently shooting video and noticed that the brightness fluctuates slightly. The picture gets slightly lighter and darker throughout the recording (a simple video interview with one subject indoors with artificial lighting on auto mode). Do you have any ideas on what could be causing this?

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  11 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      Thanks Steven. Kinda hard to figure out to be honest as it could be a multitude of factors, but if the light is consistent, and the camera is in auto, then I'd hazard a guess that it's the auto mode is a problem. If there's a window near by, that's not blacked out, then even slight outside light changes could arguably be an issue for the auto mode.
      I'd suggest trying manual mode and dialing in the ISO as well (instead of auto) and see how that works out.

    • @stevenkf7
      @stevenkf7 4 วันที่ผ่านมา

      @@VicBarry Many thanks for the helpful advice. As you can tell, I'm still a relative newbie. :-) If that happens again in the same room where I usually conduct interviews, I'll disable the auto mode as suggested and manually adjust the ISO as needed. In the UK, we often have four seasons in one day weather, so it's possible the changing natural light is causing the issue as the room has several windows. I've also since bought two lights to point at the interviewee to see if that helps when shooting in auto, for a more consistent light. Thanks again, it's much appreciated.

    why do most cameras skip 2k recording? i never understood that.. if most movie theater projectors are 2k.. , why the big jump from 1080p to 4k.. seems that 2k got overlooked so fast.., outside of the Alexa having made use of it for a while..
    haven't got through the video yet, but im hoping to see that this has CineEI mode.. also, have you played around with S35 lenses at all on here?? trying to see 4K with clear image zoom VS using S35 mode for those lenses... from what I've read, better off just using clear imagine zoom to 1.5x ...., having some chapters for such an info packed video would be a nice touch too ; ) grateful regardless though, take care

    OH HOW I GIGGLED TO MYSELF...After watching all your videos i decided purchase the ZV E1, it arrived yesterday. I followed your set up guide several times and then something clicked...i think every review on TH-cam on the ZV E1 is missing one huge decision, all this talk about it over heating in 4k 60, and when 4k 120 arrives it will basically self combust, well one other huge thing to consider...i set the camera up to its highest setting in 4k 60 and with a 128gb card it said i had 26mins of recording time....oh how i laughed... this card cost £75 and all i get is 26mins...so if your planning on filming in 4k 120p forget about the over heating consider how much your gonna have to spend to get a card that will give you 1 hours worth of filming even if its in small clips.

    • @VicBarry
      @VicBarry  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey 👋 yeah 4k 60 is data hungry. But this isn’t unique to the ZV-E1. You’ll find this in any camera that shoots 4k 60 I’m afraid. Might be more or less depending on bit rate but it’ll still have large file sizes.
