Great suggestions. I was not happy with the built in mic at all when I first got this thing but after I forgot my DJI wireless, I ended up having to use it for a video (Goldsboro Axe Murder - clips of me walking down the old stagecoach route at night was all the internal mic). I found I just needed to tweak the EQ a little, basically gave it a boost between 100hz and 200hz. I was really surprised how good it could sound. I saved that EQ setting as a preset in Davinci. Also, I have been using this camera since it's release around April. I have never had a temp warning. In one video I recorded an interview in the afternoon sun for 45min without any issues (24fps). But I think I will pickup that fan just in case. I read that slower SD cards and non-Sony batteries have caused some of the overheating issues.
Camera very regularly develops hot pixels, visible in dark at high ISO. This is why Sony programmes it to run pixel mapping all the time when you switch it on. But they can develop any time the sensor becomes warm.
@@colbyh398 Slog 3 can look very noisy if you don’t expose it just right. It normally needs 1-2 stops of over exposure, otherwise dark scenes can become noisy. I use S Cinetone for most of my shooting for that reason. No this is a separate issue. Try running the camera and let it heat up. Maybe do a bit of 120 to let it get quite warm. Then go in a very dark room and take some footage at high ISO. Like 12600 or do a few different ISO. You may be surprised when you play it back on a full sized monitor to see white hot pixels on the dark footage, sometimes blue or red also. It’s a right pain with this camera. I had 3 on some footage I took at Disney World which stayed on until pixel mapping was run again.
You should look into NISI, I have both PolarPro Peter McKinnon, and NISI,, PM is known for color changing, NISI is nearly 100 percent True Color, and Swift system gives you 1-9 stops without taking off first ND, just pop on the 6-9 add on!...... Sometimes you actually just need 1 stop,,, can't do that with PM!
Hey mate, of your recommendations I purchased the small rig cage as well as the Sony ECM-B1M Shot gun Mic. I also purchased the small rig Top Handle, however the Top Handle clashes badly with the Microphone. The Mic and handle cannot be used at the same time.
Hey Kyle great video, I am about to order the zv-e1 and I’m preparing which accessory to buy, so really helpful, on another note, I loved the "SONY ZV-E1" titles do you have a template for them or do you create them?
Hi Kyle may I ask you something? I do t know if you own a Sony 70-200 Macro.. the one with extendable barrel but... Do you know of this lens fits in the center slot of the McKinnon Sling Bag? I would like to know of it fits in vertical position
If you’re a few feet away from the mic then I’d go wireless. I use the b1m for a lot of my talking head videos but it will add in a touch of room reverb if you’re too far away from it.
I am very tempted to buy that PM sling with that 40% off coupon we got from NAB…..but been holding out to see what else they are going to be releasing lol 😂 great video as always bro! Finally watched it for someone that doesn’t even have that camera lol…….that dynamic stabilization is amazing!
I bought this camera thinking it would be perfect for my talking head videos and some field shooting. I knew about the overheating but read it was mostly limited to 120 fps beyond and hour of shooting. My first use was for a talking head video where I capture clips on and off for about an hour and the thing started overheating after 30 mins at 24fps of on and off capturing. I thought about buying the cooling fan and then started to ask myself why did I buy a camera that can't perform the most basic video functions and I have to buy aftermarket mods to get it to work right. I returned this POS and coughed up the extra money for an FX3.
That camera is pretty much an a7siii in a small body with extra features and only 1 SD card slot and no EVF. That ZV-E1 was so fun to shoot with when Kyle came to Orlando.
It’s great for vlogging. I use the zve1 when I leave my studio now and leave the a7siii set up in my studio. I’ve only had the camera overheat once and that was before I did the firmware update. Haven’t had any issues since.
@@MovingtoOhio I still like my a7siii but I need to do the firmware update so I can get that focus breathing compensation. That is a feature that’s already in the zve1
Lots of good accessories! The battery charger is fine, but I also recommend against using third party batteries. The in-camera warning is bullshit, but I have tried multiple brands and they all failed way faster than the Sony batteries. The Vemico were the worst btw. They degraded after about 3 months. Ravpower was the best so far, but even those died long before Sony‘s. Held up for a few years though.
That lens is great! Not as wide as I like but wide enough and it’s lite. I like that it goes further than 35mm too. A good option. But I am trying to find a 16-35mm GM for like $1K used.
Absolute best video for accessorizing the Sony ZV-E1!!! Great job Kyle! Very intuitive and helpful!!!!!
Great video. 2 essentials for anything that isn’t run and gun 1. That fan you showed 2 Elastic band to keep it on the camera 😂

love your setup and framing bro! whats the size of your room? great video! Love the new zv. gonna light up some of your links and sub bro. Great stuff
Thanks! The room is like 11x15

so this is why 12800 slog isnt always the best & often sometimes noisy??

Do you have a link for just the wind muff that attaches to the mic built into the camera??
I don’t have a link but you would have to order that through Sony Parts. I had to order one before for a zve10
This looks so beautiful. Can you tell us the setting/what log you shot in, what lena and the ISO?
I believe this was the a7siii with the sigma 24-70 in slog3 shot around 800 iso f2.8

I personally use the Lexar uhs-ii v90 128gb cards
Thanks for replying, Kyle! I'm following you now. :)
Great Video!! :D

One can never have enough batteries 😁👍
So true
Nice!!
It seems good!
where the heck is Slog2 😭
With the 10 but I wouldn’t use it anyways. Slog3 is cleaner for color noise and has better dynamic range
Good vidoe. You sold me some gear :-)
The Sabrent V60 can do it all.
V90 would be required for S&Q 120fps and 240fps. As well as 120fps in all intra 4k
Nope. I can record 120fps in 4K with Sony Tough V60. @@KyleWattsTV
