It’s a really impressive little camera. I initially got it thinking it would be my b-cam to the a7iv as well as the slow motion go-to, but I’m starting to think it’ll be my video a-cam
The first couple of hours with it today for me. I'm coming from a7sii, the only thing I'm missing so far is the two dials front and back that I used to adjust aperture and frame rate. I could get things looking right on the move using those two and ETTR 1.7 But the focus on the ZV E1 is just amazing. I've briefly tested the stabilisation and would finally consider using it hand held while walking or in a car.
For the next while this is my main camera with the a7sii as the b cam for interviews, and down the line the zv e1 will become the b cam to whatever comes out to update the fx3... The auto framing for a b cam on a tripod in interviews is going to be awesome.

I’m an aspiring travel Vlogger and I just got this camera for my birthday yesterday! This video was fab, thanks so much, have subbed to keep up with new videos on it. Boom! Just be sure to give it enough time to calibrate. 10-15 sec should do the trick.

Hey Sean, amazing video! , do you know how to remove the black bars when it's in cinematic vlog mode? Or how to copy the config from s-cinetone + ocean in any PP.
Those are locked in when you're in cinematic mode unfortunately
Great video! Can you compare SLOG3 from the ZV-E1 to the A7IV, interested to see camera to camera variation and how useful ZV-E1 would be as a B cam.
You got it. Also, I do that exact thing often. The Zv-E1 is a bit less bright but more color accurate for skin tones. Very easy to match them but not exact straight out of camera.
Hey, great content. Quick question about the ZV-E1 stabilisation, I find it’s not smooth on any of the settings, it keeps doing a dramatic shift in the frame which ruins the footage. Is there a problem with the camera or am I doing it wrong? The Dynamo active is hailed to by gimbal like… not in my experience… 😢

Sean...6:51 you talk about S-Cinetone setting on PP1. Is this the same as setting to PP11?
It is yea. Defaults to PP11 but all of those containers are customizable
Good afternoon, Sean. Every time I exit the menu and re-enter, it has lost the position. Does this happen to you as well? Another question, I am looking for where to change the touchscreen icons. I have watched the video twice, but I don't know if I missed it.
Hey when I have it set up in intelligent auto, it doesn't let me adjust teh picture profile to s-log3. Do you know how to fix it?

I like the Tamron 28-75 2.8 a lot for that. Solid lens and on the smaller side for a mid range zoom. The new Sony 24-70 f4 is also a good option and smaller but doesn’t have as wide of an aperture.

Very useful. Replayed some bits about 5 times while adjusting settings in the camera. Coming from 7 years straight of just SLog2 I just realised I am a little unsure about sLog3. I always used to expose to the right +1.7 and everything worked out fine even with the 8bit files, but I don't have that intimate knowledge of the new profile on this new camera. There's an option in log shooting settings called embed LUT file. What is that?
LUTs are like pre edited color adjustments. if you have a certain tone or visual style. you can save LUTs and use them readily
Great video. Can any one confirm that in ZV-E1, if we can record to SSD via USB: 4K 4:2:2 12bit/10bit - Intra - 24p - Slog3. If not, what can we record to SSD?

The one thing nobody seems to touch on when reviewing this camera is whether you need to overexpose slog footage with the zve1. There's a lot of mixed opinions in regards to the a7iv with some saying don't overexpose and then other saying the opposite. Dp you have any advice?

Hey Sean, can I set a offset of +2 for exposure so it want be easier to metering for slog3?
You can but I’ve found that the zebras method is easier and more consistent. I explain how I do that in my most recent ZV-E1 video
@@seandewispelaere I understand but sometimes I want use the auto iso on events. Can you help me where is this setting?
@kakapupuish Just right click on the dial and change ISO to auto up the top, then choose your lowest and highes ISO preferences (don't set it too high or you'll get noise) and then you can set the ETTR settings to +2 if you want, or +1.7 in my case.

Have you tested this with a Ninja V by chance? I am curious if it can get a 10bit 422 4K signal output?

Dude- I used these settings and my video had little to no color! Maybe mention that to beginners that they’ll have to fix that in post editing- which I didn’t even know how to fix either 🤦🏻♀️ Sooooo… I’m just back on intelligent auto now 😢

Newbie here… just got my ZVE1. Any of my videos I record on XAVC S 10 Bit 422 will not play in my pc. I tried on 2 different devices and also I tried on my iPad Pro M1. What am I doing wrong?
Hey Ian, that’s odd. I’d suggest (if you aren’t already) reducing your playback quality in your editing software to ½ resolution, this should help. Assuming you have the files in an editing software? They likely won’t playback just as the raw files on your computer
Hi. @@seandewispelaere thank you. But the thing is I haven’t even imported yet on the software. I just try to play it back with Windows media player and on my IPad. This is the first time I’m shooting with a 10 bit. My desktop and pc are about 3 years old. Could it be the codec?
Any overheating issues?
None on my end. I haven’t put it through the paces yet but shot in 4K 24 XAVC S for 45-min straight without any issues the other day.
I'm on Pal and in H265 mode, I'm not able to select 25FPS (or even 24fps), only 50FPS. I wonder why Sony added this weird limitation...
I can't choose 30fps in H265

you can get some of the setting but know what its doing is important than just copy paste what hes done.
hello, maybe you know how to run the functions - time-lapse in video mode ?? not in S&Q [there is only 1fps/sek] not in foto [ there is only RAW or JPG ] nut in video - for example 10bit 140mb 1frame every 10 sek :) [when you press REC you start a normal movie]
I'd just use interval shooting in photo mode?

Excellent video as usual. I am seriously considering the ZV-E1. So, I am renting it from Lensrental to play with it for a week. But, knowing that the A7Cii is coming around the summer, I really want to see what it will have. Chances are they will add 10-bit 422, since without adding that there wouldn't be much reason for a mark 2. And since the A7C is a full frame camera, I'm hoping they will give it the same sensor as the ZV-E1. Either way, I think the A7Cii will be cheaper. So, if it does come with 10-bit, etc., then it would be a good reason to hold out. Thoughts?

Good points and I’d also expect the a7cII to have a higher MP for photos which makes me think it’ll share the a7iv sensor

The autoframming isnt great, you can see a lot of motion blur in the image wuth the movement

I have had mine for three days. I will send it back tomorrow. I really hate this camera. The stabilization is just horrible. From all the hype I thought it would be like on my GoPro11. My bad. There are so many things wrong with this camera, I can't even list them all. It even crashed on me so hard one time, it wouldn't turn off. I had to remove the battery. I have had nothing but Sony cameras for the last fifteen years - but not this one. I really am very disappointed...

Got myself the Sony ZV E1 and holy fuck it's terrible. Super frustrating to work with, didn't enjoy my purchase for a single minute. Overheats after 5 minutes, doesn't connect to the computer, man it's just really really bad

Sorry to be blunt but If your zve1 overheats in 5 minutes you are either exaggerating or doing some thing wrong! I live in South Florida and I can easily shoot 4k60 in the 90 degree sun for 20 minutes with my zve1. I love my a7siii and a74 but my zve1is an awesome little camera that is quickly becoming my favorite.
@@ChrisMitchells_FlyingCameras I wish. I live in Germany, it's not even hot here and after exactly 7 minutes it shut itself of because of overheating. I have no reason to make this up. Wasn't even 60 frames, it was just 50 because I accidentally was in PAL
@@PumperPanda95 Sounds like you haven't Set "Auto Power OFF Temp." to High. That should take care of it. At 4k30 you should be able to recored for about an hour at 24deg C and 4k6o for 25-30 minutes at 24c. I have used mine pretty extensively in the week that Iv've owned it and consistently get those number. Hope that helps!
