I agree with you. Although, It would make more sense if that title was used if Corrin picks the Revelations route and not the others. Or if we consider the Revelations route canon, since the fact that Corrin can still pick one nation over the other still exists, painting him as "white" or "black".

I really like how formal and ancient the lyrics sound in this cover, especially given the background of the song in the games. It was written at the time to quell the ancient draconic beasts that plagued the land, and I don't feel like that the in-game lyrics convey that emotion. This version is also just a lot prettier with its haunting harmonies and the mixing. Your voices really suit this song well ^_^ Edit: while this version of the song may not be accurate to the story, i feel as if it is more accurate to the in-game mythology and lore that surrounds the song. In the setting, the song was never truly intended as a prophecy; it was intended as a prayer.

I'm not sure I agree with you, because the ingame lyrics were also meant to foreshadow what was to come later on in the games plot, but most fan-written lyrics I hear completely destroy that part of the song. Including this one.

This version has the necessary impact in instrumentation and yes, the lyrics DO foreshadow the story, they just don't smack you in the face with all but direct spoilers. You can also translate things into English a million different ways. And when translating songs you have to match syllables not just the raw words and there’s context conveyance to factor in, our sentence structure is completely different from practically the rest of the world. Only Corporate America would strike a translation.

Warning: This comment contains major spoilers from the birthright route as well as conquest and revelations. When i listen to this song, I'm taken back to the amazing game. The sacrifice of Azura really made me cry because we got to see her for nearly the whole game. As well as Elise and countless others, they did this to achieve true peace and that to me is absolutely beautiful. This game made me laugh and cry and i truly felt a connection with some of the main characters as well as the side characters. This was my first fire emblem game and I've went on to purchase Awakening as well. 10/10 in my book.
I can see why Fates holds a place in a lot of fans' hearts. In my opinion, Awakening had a much better story (the roster was meh though) I hope you liked Awakening as well! And give the older games a try as well (:

I really love all the work you poured into these lyrics and improving over the original English ones! In original, it said, 'Sing.....with me, a song, of birthrights and love.' AmaLee changed it to: 'Join in our prayer, in our song, of birthrights and love'. The original ones had an awkward amount of time in the words 'sing....with me' and you found a way to make it much smoother! Amazing attention to detail and love this version over the original.
That's the problem with many of these japanese songs translated to English. The timing can be thrown off by translators adding extra syllables/subtracting so that it works to the melody of the music. That was the issue I had with Fates main theme is that it sounded way too obviously like a song that had been translated to English
@@MHChang2014 English isn't my first language but i don't like "Withe as a bone" and "hard as a stone" part, this sounded so much like "omg we need something to fit the timing" and i think that a lot of other words would sound better and less gibberish than these Other than that i love Lost in Thoughts All Alone English Version and i think that they did a nice job in making such a hard song to adapt sound good while still kept the symbolism with the storyline of Fates just like the original but in a diferent way
I love how in the first verse, the lyrics change sonority from vowels to liquid consonants (Ls and Rs) to the sharp consonants in "Cut". It's like a river flowing into faster waters, then a crash. I wish the Ls were emphasized a little more to complete this river effect.

I originally thought that this version had more radiance and flair, which in turn made me presume it would be a more suitable dub, since radiance seems to be the most notable aspect of Azura's voice when putting her singing into the context of the story. This cover made me play Fire Emblem Fates and get into the series. You kinda get to pick between a "good" and "evil" route so that's why the song's tone and the girl's outfit change between the first and second verse. Then there's the "true" path at the end. It was a good game I recommend it.
This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, hands down. It combines everything I think is beautiful in a song into one piece. Amanda's voice is godly, and sounds surreal in this piece, and the chordal structure gives it a medieval feel that her voice is honestly perfect for. One adjective I would give the singing here is "angelic", the tone is so pure and the harmony is so clear and well thought out.... When I hear this I am transported to a different world of quests, conquest and lies! Only you can make me forget everything and affect me this much. I don't want to sound cheesy, but you deserve to receive recognition for the power of your work. Thank you, I admire your ability to convey emotion in this way.
Even after 8 years i still love to listen to this sing no matter if it is the original or lees version. Whenever it rains it just puts me in thoughts and helps me to sort them out and even better puts me at ease and lets me relax during my favourite weather. this song and rain just go together so well and with lees voice it just goes to be perfection. Amalee's lyrics fit the meter much more, and as such, I consider them better.

Minor headcanon, but I like to think that the Birthright and Conquest routes are actually dreams or visions that Corrin/Kamui has during their time in the Nohrian fortress. When they make it to the Hoshidan field where they choose their path to side with, they can either follow the perceived visions and side with Nohr or Hoshido, or use them as a way to form another path (the third route).

I know this doesn't relate to the song at all but in my headcanon I like to think that Owain, Severa, and Inigo all went different paths. One went to their future, one stayed in the world of fates, and one went back to the world of awakening.

As I get only months away from adulthood and I fall more and more in love with this cover with every time I listen to it, I think this song is a strong metaphor for life in high school. We are like oceans filled with rough waves and smooth ones that represent our emotions throughout our experience. There are some different outlooks you may have during this stage of life. You can be hopeful and pray that you can get through school to set you on the right path respectfully, albeit nervously (Birthright verse), or you can get confident and vow you will pass in flying colours at all costs, even if you get a bit in over your head (Conquest verse). However, there can be a balance between the two, where we can stay level-headed and balance hope and confidence to stay in a realistic perspective of being a teenager at school (Revelation verse). Any way you look at it, you will go through a whole complicated storm of emotions, but once it’s over and you finally graduate, you shall move onwards with your life, ready to tackle any adult responsibilities and career choices with determination.

I really like how formal and ancient the lyrics sound in this cover, especially given the background of the song in the games. It was written at the time to quell the ancient draconic beasts that plagued the land, and I don't feel like that the in-game lyrics convey that emotion. This version is also just a lot prettier with its haunting harmonies and the mixing. Your voices really suit this song well ^_^
Edit: while this version of the song may not be accurate to the story, i feel as if it is more accurate to the in-game mythology and lore that surrounds the song.
In the setting, the song was never truly intended as a prophecy; it was intended as a prayer.

I enjoyed the song in the actual game as well as here too. To me they don't sound the same but at least you can enjoy both as well as how the soundtrack sounds in the Smash Bros 3DS and Wii U.
I'm not sure I agree with you, because the ingame lyrics were also meant to foreshadow what was to come later on in the games plot, but most fan-written lyrics I hear completely destroy that part of the song. Including this one.

Are you listening to the same song as I am? Not only was the original song terrible with meter and translation, Rena's voice just didn't suit the song at all. This version has the necessary impact in instrumentation and yes, the lyrics DO foreshadow the story, they just don't smack you in the face with all but direct spoilers. There's supposed to be nuance.

You can also translate things into English a million different ways. And when translating songs you have to match syllables not just the raw words and there’s context conveyance to factor in, our sentence structure is completely different from practically the rest of the world.
Only Corporate America would strike a translation.

When i listen to this song, I'm taken back to the amazing game. The sacrifice of Azura really made me cry because we got to see her for nearly the whole game. As well as Elise and countless others, they did this to achieve true peace and that to me is absolutely beautiful. This game made me laugh and cry and i truly felt a connection with some of the main characters as well as the side characters. This was my first fire emblem game and I've went on to purchase Awakening as well. 10/10 in my book.

I really love all the work you poured into these lyrics and improving over the original English ones! In original, it said, 'Sing.....with me, a song, of birthrights and love.' AmaLee changed it to: 'Join in our prayer, in our song, of birthrights and love'. The original ones had an awkward amount of time in the words 'sing....with me' and you found a way to make it much smoother! Amazing attention to detail and love this version over the original.
That's the problem with many of these japanese songs translated to English. The timing can be thrown off by translators adding extra syllables/subtracting so that it works to the melody of the music. That was the issue I had with Fates main theme is that it sounded way too obviously like a song that had been translated to English
Honestly i like "Sing with me a song of Conquest & Fate" more but the Hoshido verse sounds better here

Other than that i love Lost in Thoughts All Alone English Version and i think that they did a nice job in making such a hard song to adapt sound good while still kept the symbolism with the storyline of Fates just like the original but in a diferent way
I love how in the first verse, the lyrics change sonority from vowels to liquid consonants (Ls and Rs) to the sharp consonants in "Cut". It's like a river flowing into faster waters, then a crash. I wish the Ls were emphasized a little more to complete this river effect.

edit: okay since everybody is pointing this out, the original dub has more polish in terms of acting and suitability for the character itself (comparatively to the original japanese dub, if you want to draw the parallel yourself). I originally thought that this version had more radiance and flair, which in turn made me presume it would be a more suitable dub, since radiance seems to be the most notable aspect of Azura's voice when putting her singing into the context of the story. I still think it's better to listen to dough :3

This cover made me play Fire Emblem Fates and get into the series. You kinda get to pick between a "good" and "evil" route so that's why the song's tone and the girl's outfit change between the first and second verse. Then there's the "true" path at the end. It was a good game I recommend it.
This is the most beautiful song I have ever heard, hands down. It combines everything I think is beautiful in a song into one piece. Amanda's voice is godly, and sounds surreal in this piece, and the chordal structure gives it a medieval feel that her voice is honestly perfect for. One adjective I would give the singing here is "angelic", the tone is so pure and the harmony is so clear and well thought out.... When I hear this I am transported to a different world of quests, conquest and lies! Only you can make me forget everything and affect me this much. I don't want to sound cheesy, but you deserve to receive recognition for the power of your work. Thank you, I admire your ability to convey emotion in this way.

EDIT: ok, i'm gonna say it here instead of expecting people to read the reply chain. when i say its better, i mean the METER of the song lyrics are better. don't know what that means? google it, or read my replies on the posts below. you can enjoy nintendo's words more, of course, but the meter is objectively screwed up compared to the meter of the original japanese lyrics. nintendo simply translated the lyrics and tried to put them as song lyrics without actually getting a lyric writer to make it fit the meter of the original song. it was a slapdash job. Amalee's lyrics fit the meter much more, and as such, I consider them better.

Minor headcanon, but I like to think that the Birthright and Conquest routes are actually dreams or visions that Corrin/Kamui has during their time in the Nohrian fortress. When they make it to the Hoshidan field where they choose their path to side with, they can either follow the perceived visions and side with Nohr or Hoshido, or use them as a way to form another path (the third route).

L0laStarr Not yet, I only got Birthright and Conquest last week cus I live in Europe but I'm on Chapter 8 of Conquest so far, Revelations doesn't come out for another week in Europe.

L0laStarr I know. I had to unsub from several youtubers so that the games weren't spoiled for me and I have to say the games have been an experience. I haven't felt like we've had a story this solid since the GBA titles.

I know this doesn't relate to the song at all but in my headcanon I like to think that Owain, Severa, and Inigo all went different paths. One went to their future, one stayed in the world of fates, and one went back to the world of awakening.
I like to think they all went back to awakening with their children (as far as im concerned it's canon that Severa is Caeldori's mother)

I'm not talking about mechanics or systems...I play games for the story, and not the challenge, and as long as it satisfies me with proper plot and character play based on the situations they are used in, I'm fine. My point is that for me, I like the idea of including characters from Awakening enough that I'm willing to give it my own shot, and make my own conclusions, just as you have clearly made yours.

As I get only months away from adulthood and I fall more and more in love with this cover with every time I listen to it, I think this song is a strong metaphor for life in high school. We are like oceans filled with rough waves and smooth ones that represent our emotions throughout our experience. There are some different outlooks you may have during this stage of life. You can be hopeful and pray that you can get through school to set you on the right path respectfully, albeit nervously (Birthright verse), or you can get confident and vow you will pass in flying colours at all costs, even if you get a bit in over your head (Conquest verse). However, there can be a balance between the two, where we can stay level-headed and balance hope and confidence to stay in a realistic perspective of being a teenager at school (Revelation verse). Any way you look at it, you will go through a whole complicated storm of emotions, but once it’s over and you finally graduate, you shall move onwards with your life, ready to tackle any adult responsibilities and career choices with determination.
