Z-Man STREAKZ (Finesse Fluke)

  • This short story shows how December bass were eager to be allured by a member of the "fluke family": the 3.75 inch Z-Man StreakZ. Fished with a sink, twitch, sink, twitch retrieve on a 2.0 Chinlockz hook, the StreakZ caught a number of fish abiding along a rocky bank in 3-6 feet of water.
The key was to keep casting, casting and casting because if it were there, the fish usually grabbed the lure almost immediately or on one of the twitches/falls.
The StreakZ was a fun lure to use and I'm planning to use these types of Z-Man fluke-style baits again in the near future.
Rudie Tootie, Papillon angling advisor/outfitter (ha) has a nice cameo for his fans.
Enjoy the show and have a happy and prosperous 2024.

Hi Don, your Z-Man STREAKZ didn’t disappoint you today especially rigged weedless along the bank rocks and sticks. You found the nice bass swimming around and they jumped right on your lure. Z-Man never fails!! The big Thumper was a jumper too, good thing you had your net 😊. Great video to end season 2023 and looking forward to your new adventures in 2024👏!! RTR ❤️

Thanks Sis. I think the fish will be napping for a while as this wintry weather moves in so I'm glad to have been able to catch these fish. I checked Jan 22 calendar and we had some mild weather and I actually had two good fishing trips. I know where to go if we don't get iced over! Xxxxxoo RTR Don

Happy new year to you as well Virgillio. This time of year gets difficult to fish in because night temperatures are in the 20s and the small waters freeze. Hopefully I can find some open water. Blessings to you and your family, Don

Public strip pit or a private strip pit? Very nice looking fishing hole. Enjoy your vids.

Thanks, Jack. Public...you know the one. Right now fishing is a challenge with the low water level and basically all the brush and stumps high and dry on the bank. I'll be concentrating on the west end where there's a lot of trees still underwater. Have a great week and best wishes for 2024, Don

Always great to be catching open water bass in December! Any idea what the water temp was? ... Have a great 2024; Happy New Year...

Thanks so much, Jim. I fished a nearby body of water a week before, and the water was 43-44. This day was comparatively very mild and near the end of a week of unseasonably warm weather. We are back to normal January weather now with nights in the 20s, so it will be interesting to see if the fish behave the same next time I get to go here. Have a great week, Don

Jeff, congratulations on that New Year PB crappie! You are officially a Shad Fryz fan 4 life! Those little lures are phenomenal; what color were you using? I bet it was exciting to see that huge, beautiful crappie come out of the cold water . Hope you get to fish on both sides of ice out...it is more challenging but the fish will still cooperate with the right lure, presentation, time of day and all the other variables. God bless, Don

Don't know the name of the color..purple/ chart..looks somewhat like a little shad...better in clear water..yet worked today 😊
Ps . Don't have too much clear water here except when it is cooler out. Gotta be good at picking what to throw in continuous stained water...guess it cleared up a bit 😊 happy new year and may the fish always bite.

Nice video. Was curious on the 2/0 hook ,what was the weight of the hook? It looked like it had no weight?

    • @Winkiedoodles
      @Winkiedoodles  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

Thanks so much Canyon; much appreciated. These TT Chinlock hooks are described as weightless. However, the small retaining nub at the eye angle does weigh just a little bit but certainly a lot less than regular weighted swimbait hooks. These hooks do a great job of holding Elaztechs in place. Best wishes, Don

I'm looking to get on the Pickerel Bite just after ice out. I have an Outcast Cruzer Max (w/ Oars) and an Outcast Stealth Pro I use both depending on the body of water I'm fishing. If I'm hiking to the spot have to use the Outcast Cruzer Max, the other is too heavy. I have been using inflatables for a few years now but have never gone out so early and in such cold water/weather. I watched your video on cold water float tubing, and you mention layers, would you elaborate on the clothing you use in detail? Waders etc. The Cruzer Max has a foam seat and back and while I'm not submerged in water, water does still make contact with my waders when I've gone out in spring and summer. The Stealth Pro is a pop canvas seat on an inflatable bottom but has me out of the water. While fishing my feet and lower legs would be in water with float tube and in Stealth Pro there is a bar I could rest them on if needed.

Enjoyed your comments; thafor stopping by. I looked up your float tube and it looks really good. I'm using a Cumberland by Classic Accessories. 5" foam seat pretty much keeps legs out of the water except from knees down. I hardly use my canvas seat Caddis tube because you sit much lower in the water.
Layers. Thermal underwear. Sweat pants. Thermal top, long sleeve T shirt, insulated shirt. Insulated hoodie + frog togs if there's any precipitation (which I normally avoid in winter..maybe snow flurries are ok). Insulated Red Head boot waders from Bass Pro. Good insulated socks from bass pro. We are totally iced over in all impoundments here in W central Missouri so fish should be hungry when it clears. Best wishes, Don
