This approach is perfect for what I'm wanting to paint today. It's December 21. Our ministers mother passed away a few days ago, her husband proceeded her in death a few years before. The spirit medicine of the Cardinal completely delights me and the song "I'll Be Home For Christmas", touches my heart beautifully. As I imagine these two souls being home together for Christmas. I'll try my hand today painting a couple of Cardinals, amongst some snow and mistletoe. I am calling on the bold, supportive, creative Brilliance of Cardinal, to power through any doubts I have about my ability to create this bereavement card for our ministers family. I'm so happy and grateful to have found this tutorial this morning. You are a true blessing. Big Love to You, Merry Christmas to You, Thank You.
Thank you Shelley. You inspire each of us to continue our journey through the beauty of watercolour. Your birds and sky paintings are especially inspiring.😊✨✨✨
I had to finish off live bc of an appt. Wonderful tutorial. You are so generous to share your knowledge with us. Thank you. Just loved those soft feathers.
Thanks so much for painting this bird. I really like the way that you painted the feathers. I enjoy painting birds but I haven’t had a method for painting body feathers that I am happy with. Now I will be using your method❣️
Gorgeous

It's fascinating to see you develop the colors using the washes followed by the dry brush detailing.
Oh my gosh!! Clock ⏰ hands! That is SO helpful 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 thank you!
I just love that soft red color. Beautiful.

Great clear teaching 😊
I appreciated the idea of clock hands for angles. I think doing wet into wet for an underpainting is both beautiful and faster. Thanks.
Thank you very much. I found those tips very useful in my own painting.
I loved this, Shelley! I am not usually a wildlife painter, but this may motivate me.
Thanks very much Josephine 😊

Hi Shelley, really enjoyed watching this one. I love your color wheel pallet set up. Thanks for your videos.
Thank you Sue. I like the logical layout of colors too (following the color wheel)
WOULD IT BE A MISTAKE TO MASK OFF THE EDGE OF THE BIRD AND DO A BACKGROUND FIRST?
No that would work for me 😊
Thank you so much, I didn’t really expect an answer on this video from a long time ago.
So perfect! Thanks for this!!

My pleasure Pam and thanks for watching.
Thanks!
That's very thoughtful of you Joyce. Thank you so much
How did you get paint in the pallet? Did you use pan paints?
These are tube paints that I squeezed into the wells. They dry up but I just re-soften with water
