Thank you so much, from Singapore! Because of you, I can finally paint clouds and sunsets without ruining them. Your technique is so clean and your guidance easy to execute. 😘
That was a great demonstration, the best I’ve seen. I had been struggling with how to do a sunset sky but you made it look easy. Thanks so much Shelley.
I've learned so much from your videos and teaching ..thank you! I would love to see how you did the sky with the dark clouds with the light around the edges included in the small paintings you showed in the beginning. The whole painting is rather dark except for the sun and parts of the sky. It's so pretty! Thanks again! Boise Idaho
@@lisajensen1843 Thanks Lisa. I did a red/orange wash, let it dry, applied masking fluid to save those light edges. Then I painted the clouds and the sky area accordingly.
I really enjoyed watching these paintings. You did a beautiful job! You mentioned that you are missing next week and are traveling. Prayers for a safe trip😊
incredibly useful, and also inspiring. I painted these today! Was really happy with my sunset layers. BUT At the end, though, I was unable to make the silhouetted treeline look good. Of course I dont have a smash brush ;) but turns out it's hard to make something that is random, but natural looking, that is in total contrast to the picture, yet doesn't distract. Yikes. So much to learn.
I was all geared up for your demo on today 9/4/24 it’s Wednesday no Shelly … Boo Hoo . I look forward to your incredible teaching . Hope all is well with you and your family.
@@rmc9076 all is well. You didn’t miss it. I was travelling (on my way to a painting retreat woohoo!). Couldn’t demo from the car but I’ll be back next week.
Shelley - question: if you were gonna add any objects like a boat or even a person in a scene similar to this, would you add them after you finish painting, the sky, the background and the water?
@@muireannin09 sorry no live until next week. I mentioned this at the end of the video. I was driving all day to get to my painting retreat so I couldn’t demo today.
Shelley is one of the best art teachers. So generous with her time and she knows EXACTLY what TO DESCRIBE as she paints. 🙏

Fascinating to watch. I couldn’t wait to see how the heck Shelly was going to add the blue sky after adding all the pinks and yellows! Wow!

I love the mini paintings you showed and I think it'd be a good idea for a video.
Magnifique ❤❤❤❤

Thank you Shelley !😊
textured cold press really is essential to this layering technique...at least at my level of painting. great session
@@kathylou2401 thanks Kathy. I do find the paper makes a huge difference.

@@muireannin09 mostly everything is silhouetted or close to it at sunset. It could easily be added afterwards.
Wonderful tutorial! What size are the small painting in inches please? Thank you!
