+Tim McComish Too right, to me they just have that gritty feel to them, coupled with the deep, growling engines and whistling, they're very intimidating indeed.
In this time , the killer could still see the killed one from a relative small distance .
With the jets , the killer looks at his target from so long distances that no one can see , one side is looking at the radar screen , the other is dead , hardly seeing or hearing anything comming .

i absolutely dont think so! And also this is only one of many bf 109! i for example really prefer the G6, which in my opinion sounds really different to this one
It's literally spitfire's worst enemy these planes were no joke put aside all propaganda this plane was a beast a lot harder to fly than a spitfire but In the right hands this plane along with many other 109 varients were incredibly made planes along with all allied planes to counter them.

Niklas7779 I'm from England and I'm a huge war fanatic. It's very rare I talk to someone from my country who knows the difference between the SS and the Wehrmacht. After meeting German WW2 veterans, it's so frustrating to hear people label all Germans from Nazi time as power hungry, mass murdering maniacs. People nowadays don't understand the extent, or simply don't know about Nazi propaganda, nor the atrocities of Joseph Stalin.

J B Is it the supercharger though? Imo the whistling is to loud and distinct. I think it's the airflow over the radiator or possibly the manifold.

That is absolutely my favourite aircraft engine sound.
That exact roll that the 109 did at 0:40 seconds is the exact reason they wrecked a hell of a lot of spitfires, inverted rolls and pull overs
Indeed! Did you notice the displacement of water vapour at the wing tips at #0.56? Klaus Plasa threw the 109 into a hard climb shipping enough air at the aforementioned to excite a vapour trail.
Klaus Plasa put on a real show for us. An exceptional aeroplane in the hands of an exceptional pilot.

Best flying of any second world war fighter i have ever seen. never seen a P-51 or Spitfire flown so fluidly. this Me-109 pilot was making it look effortless

A truly beautiful airplane and one of my favorites to come from the war. I'd love to fly one of these and a Junkers 87, but it will never happen. I'd feel blessed to just see one fly. She sounds pretty as she looks that's for sure, truly great fighter.

The 109s were superb. Anyone who says otherwise needs to read and listen to the men who actually fought against these machines. Don't believe what the History Channel says - it's incredibly biased so that dumb ass's can understand and so watch all the commercials. Brilliant video, well filmed, great aircraft. I would love to fly one to scare the shit out of Cessna's and private jets.

Im sorry but the Mustang has and always will out perform the 109, Im not biased either im german. They were just a better fighter, sorry. I do respect your opinion though, It is good, actually great, but time caught up with it.

Not 100% true. The ME-109 with the 20mm and 30mm canons make short proces with the Mustang and the Spit. Btw.: the latest ME-109's flew up to 700km/h - as fast as the Mustang, but more manuvreble.
***** the later 109s could tangle with a mustang, they were more agile but not as fast so it was a case of ambush. It could not, under any circumstances tangle with either a late merlin or griffon engined spitfire. Especially the Spit XIV which could bat along at 450-60 mph and was as agile as a modern day stunt plane. I do like the huge array of armaments on the 109 but the mk 108 30mm was a terrible weapon and you were more likely to miss a fighter than hit
Gentleman. U need to think about situation of Late of War. Germany couldn't stand against Ally bombers. so they gave up the characteristic of dogfighting and added too much firepower. they effectively gave up the 109s and concentrated on FW190s. And also hopelessly outnumbered and blockated. Think also 109 was designed as light-weight fighters.
Taking about technologies without saying this situation is not fair.
The 109 the FW 190 and the spitfire are the great planes of the century its music to your ears. They will always have a special place in history as will the men who flew them. all heros of days gone by

Connor Jonhson You really need to bone up on your history' JG26 AKA THE ABBEVILLE KIDS were the best ever ' they were the elite of the luftwaffe 'my dad god rest his soul was in the 8th airforce in a b24 over germany and he said those boys were fearless when attacking and could outfly anything america had .It's too bad they were not around at the appearance of the mustang cuz all the big talking americamn aces would have gotten their asses handed to them by these boys.There were more german aces with over 200 kills than american aces with 20 kills ' ERICH HARTMANN had 357 alone ' and please don't give me that line of BS about the inferiority of the russian pilots cuz the american aces were shooting down frightened kids toward the end of the war not what was germany's best .
Connor Jonhson JG52 may have been good but if you look at number of kills to losses JG26 stands alone as the best of the best' they may have been hand picked but you can't deny the fame of the abbeville kids nor the respect they garnered at the hands of the allies .they were the ZEMKE'S WOLFPACK of the luftwaffe.

By far the best and aggressive 109 display Flying to date, the Pilot shows beautifully the performance potential of this famous plane and destroys several misconception myths about the 109...slow ailerons hahaha, wide turns hahaha, slow hahaha. What we see turns on a dime, climbs like a rocket, rolls quickly at high speeds. Shows impressively why it was the most numerously built Fighter in history and the Aces could score like they did.
Impressive... usually they don't push these planes like that - these engines are pushing 80 years old and parts getting harder and harder to find and mostly have to be remanufactured... this was also excellent airmanship and not something you commonly see as well and goes beyond your average Air Show demo. This M was singing and dancing - wish I could have been there! Thank God for TH-cam.
No matter what your nationality , this is a beautiful aircraft flown by a great pilot :D wish i'd been there to see and hear this amazing sight myself

There is nothing in authenticity that compares with the sound of this airplane.
Wow it runs so smooth compared to merlin engines... once I was young I saw 109 on airshow doing artificial dogfights agains hurricane. I remember at the time I was sad becouse hurricane was keep losing to “evil” 109, but I remember how good supercharger sounded on the messersmith. Sadly I didn’t see flying 109 since.

Why are people still arguing about a war that finished 70 years ago? Are ppl that small-minded they cannot enjoy a video about a very rare and authentic plane and just enjoy it for what it is? A lot of enthusiastic people with a love of old planes made this happen. Be happy).

when The americans arrived on the scene they had trouble in fighting at first since they all had to learn the hard way to fight in North africa. though some american pilots had been fighting since before 39 in the Spanish civil war. I do believe that an f4u corsair with evenly skilled pilots could beat a bf109 g series. A k series was better than the f4u but still defeatable. interestingly alot of american pilots preferred flying the p47 as it's awesome armament and speed allowed it to easily end a fight and get out.

Search on Spitfire EN 830, a Mk. Vb. captured in 1942. The Germans installed a DB605 motor and found that the Me110 cowling would fit with a few modifications. This aircraft was flown as a test aircraft with the DB605 and was well-liked. I'm sure you can search for flight test data for this test project. The plane was destroyed in bombing raid in 1944. It was a very nice-looking Spit with the German cowling and engine.

The sound of a 36 litre DB605 engine is outstanding! Merlins , Griffons and other V12 engines makes great music to, but a 605 beats them all. Great video!
Die wird echt mit fast 100% geflogen! Ein schönes Erlebnis, wenn man die Vorführungen der G2 auf der ILA kennt, die mit maximal 75% zur Schonung des Triebwerks geflogen wird!
