Hello there ; As you know, the Windows 10 20H2 update has arrived, but with this update, the driver update is not automatic after the computer is formatted, unfortunately we do it manually in the other updates section, which means some drivers or old computers fail. Can we do this as an automatic driver update after getting on the internet after formatting as before?

Thanks for another invaluable little tut, Brian. Used it to migrate from 970EVO 500GB to P5+ 2TB via USB HDD.
Apart from Etcher constantly failing to verify the dongle write (Rufus worked fine for me) it was as smooth and quick as you demonstrated.
Keep on making great content - this is how the Britec09 do.
    EDIT:
Because the new SSD was 1.5TB larger than the old, the space available after booting up was only the original 500GB size so I used Disk Management to shrink the size of C: by a few MB, then I could extend it all the way to get the full capacity.

I have been using the free version of Macrium to clone and image drives for a few years. It has worked flawlessly including recovery a few times after a corrupted Windows. I only image the C partition and recover that only when Windows is too damaged for repair.

Hello Ben from Australia. I use:
    1) Acronis for backup
    2) Veritas System Recovery (formerly Symantec Norton Ghost). This is my favourite backup software.

    4) Windows 10 and Windows 7 Backup as a fall back recommendation for friends that are not backing up their PC.

Just started using Macrimum reflect. Funnily enough, after my third scheduled backup, when booting next day my pc couldn't find the boot drive! Although it was detected in the BIOS. Used the Fix boot problems option, and it booted into windows instantaneously. Idk what (macrimum itself?) broke it (brand new ssd), but MR fixed it.

I use a Startech disk copier. My boot drive is a removeable 1Tb SSD. I put it in the copier and copy onto an identical disk drive. I can also copy onto a larger drive and then use EasUS partition master to make full use of the extra space on the larger drive. This is the easiest ever way of doing a backup but it's not the quickest.

    Some questions:
    1. If I install a new SSD do I need to format the drive (in my case EXT4) before I restore or will it restore it for me?
    2. If the new drive I am restoring to is larger will I need to resize? You mentioned gparted but at which stage and how do you use this?

dism++ is far superior imho, mainly because you can backup a live windows installation into a .wim file via VSS.
Also, it installs another boot partition to boot right into the dism++ GUI for restoring backups, finetune wim files, add, delete, modify things to your liking, it has a boot-repair option which works very reliable... a file explorer is also integrated, it is very barebone (the explorer i mean), but it does the job. you could start the win10 recovery environment with it or just an admin cmd. from there you can use tools native to windows like wpeinit and wpeutil (for creating a temporary pagefile and also change the keyboard locale or /initializenetwork, if you need internet connectivity).
you can go even deeper and create OOBE commands, delete bloatware apps/features and delete/compact the installation file PLUS, it ONLY uses Windows native tools like dism, and CBS... give it a try. especially if you have multiple windows installations or wim/esd files.

Looks like it's Linux based. I'm always a bit weary of free backup programs as they generally use proprietary file backups and you can't restore anything unless you use that program. So if that company stops the free version, you might be screwed if there's a catastrophe and need to restore.
Personally I like Free File Sync. It's free and backs up your files as you see them on your drive. Yes it might not be as disk efficient as zipping them up, but you're guaranteed to be able to restore them if something does happen.

Will this work to copy my HDD in my restored IBM T60 running windows XP 32 bit? Part of my restoration was to add an SSD but I can not find any software that will copy the HDD to the SSD. I even purchased the pro version of AOMEI which claimed it ran on XP but when I copied the HDD to the SSD, it would not boot as it said there was no boot sector found on the SSD. (Yes, the box was checked where it asked if I wanted to make this a boot disk) I have tried all the other software I could find. I am running windows 10 in my other computers I just wanted to keep that one original even though some guys can get their T60's to run win 7.

Lovely description of the redo software but way too light on what you are backing up.
My concern is my data, not the OS or Applications programs which I can replace. This SW looks to have lots and lots of 'features' that - to my simple mind - complicate the decision process.. I have files on my laptop that I do not want to lose access to. I need to identify the folders they are in and back them up as, if and when they are changed. I need to be able to restore these files to the drive they were backed up from, or quite possibly to a hard drive on a different device should the source have gone south.
This simplistic explanation of how one can back up 'some files' to another drive and restore those files to the original source device is just that simple - as about as useful.
As the saying goes "tell us something we don't know."
Then again, could it be that your knowledge is relatively superficial?

I need to try this and see if you can back up to the same drive you boot from? I need to make multiple USB boot drives and copy the same image to restore to them. Then we have student workers go machine to machine and restore them with the new image for the school year.
    *BEFORE ANYONE COMMENTS:*
    - yes we have SCCM, no we do not have the network to handle the load all over campus
    - second issue with SCCM, or other network solutions: no Ethernet port on some laptops
    - another issue with SCCM, MAC devices
The issues with SCCM are also the issues with ManageEngine and several other options, the want to boot with Linux or Windows PE and then connect to the network; which is not offline / barebones, and obviously requires network connectivity.
Also curious if this can be automated to just process the restore without much user intervention. Plug in USB, Function key to get to BIOS, select boot device, and walk away to the next machine with another USB.

i Don't Have Acronis.tibx 2021 Yet But i do have 2019 and 2020 and i see "NO" Bloatware on it and I've use it For Years...a Good 10yrs with hardly any issues other than Bug Fixes and New Features...The Only Thing i Have issue with is the Dashboard/Console
The Backup Timing is Off; Where I've Backed-up 100% the Online DashBoard says 97 or 98 just not 100% immediately For Where I'm at .

I did this as an experiment, it all worked fine but Windows 10 recognised it was on different hardware, so the 'Not Activated' message appeared. As I say, still worked fine.

Does this work for backing up data usb sticks?
I have a 256gig USB stick I need to make a copy of to install to another usb stick. Would this program be a solution to this? No Autoboot required.

Is there a commercial reason why you every time propose Etcher in your recording? Etcher is full of shit, that’s why it is so big. There are free and lighter and safer programs that can do the same!

Thanxs
