Sridhar, Lots of people have vision but rarely few people have the ability to live for the vision and set an example!. You have simply crushed the egos of these huge universities. I even doubt if they would have the capacity to understand why and where you are actually heading. If there is one thing that I wish these universities learn from you, then that would be being humble /simple (in spite of having achieved so much). So proud of you! Good luck and my best wishes for vision 2047.

I agree with sir about teaching in mother tongue. Girls from villages join Nursing College without knowing English. How is it fair to expect these girls to understand fat medical books in English ? They need to know English. But they should have text books in Tamil with a lot of English also in it. The lecturers use tamil to teach and our girls are bright and understand. They should be allowed to write their exams in Tamil and English.

I live in a state were the govt schools are being transformed into English medium schools and the CM thinks that a big achievement. There was even a video that went viral where the CM was listening in awe to a student of a government school going gaga over her achievement of learning English in an accent that was so very weird.

Best wishes sir. Let this effort serve as a role model so that others follow this innovative model. It is very sad that even the nail clippers are imported though manufacturing this does not need a rocket science technology know how. The main reason for this importing is that it is cost effective to import it rather than manufacturing locally. So the focus needs to be on economics also rather than on technology alone as to how best we can reduce the cost. That is my humble opinion. Thank you.

The central government is focused on manufacturing. Land reforms & cutting red tape and judicial reforms also need to go hand in hand to enable easy acquisition of land for setting up industries.

I completely agree with everything he has said. My only objection would be to the point of localites not having to learn English. I understand the need to preserve your roots and this absolutely needs to be done, but to converse with other Indians we need a common language. It will most probably not be Hindi since the South is not proffecient in it. Therefore, I feel for the sake of better cooperation and unity amongst Indians, we should focus to certain degree on English literacy along with our mother tongues.

Excellent points. But howmuch these vice chancellors take these to their heart matters.
I can speak fluent english, as an assistant professor, I know the level of students and accordingly, I use to speak in Tamil when required. In the KCG college of technology chennai, this was monitored somehow and given has bad feedback to me.
All these colleges are making pass percentage as one of the high priority metrics for advertising their college, which is a major issue.
I think Sridhar sir should involve closely with these idiots and give proper vision and implementation system for all branches and monitor the implementation. Unless this is going to happen, they will not know what to do.
Sridhar sir, kindly deliver another speech for faculties of the colleges. Give them a vision and roadmap.

how is Tamil cinema particularly so bad against any other cinema say HIndi, Telugu etc.? Or you have any special vanmam for Tamil cinema, even as (or because) Tamil cinema is widely recognized among filmmakers as producing some of the most original, rooted, progressive films in the country.

Making 1 or 2 good movies out of the 100 odd movies that come in a year is definitely not considered progressive and all this 'widely considered' statement is self appraisal . Learn to make nuanced arguments, and not blanket statements which is why I had to attribute it to other motives and enquired abt vanmams. I can quote several leading critics and filmmakers from outside TN to back my statement, that isnt "self appraisal", rather what YOU have is some quite bizarre, unfounded appraisal that's backed by nothing but maybe some complex you got. These are just small scale improvements, suggestions he has made that can be looked at. And whatever he's managed to do with Zoho schools while admirable is hardly a model for our universities. He trains 125 students a year after 17 years, and that's a model for our universities which teach a million students a year? And one fundamental flaw of course is that he somehow thinks the only point of education is employability, It's not. While we want every students out of our universities to be employable, that's not the only thing we want out of them.
