This video is showing where China is going with the EV. In the west EV is a toy for the rich people to be sold at a premium. In China EV is just a utility vehicle, small, practical, easy to run and affordable by the everyone.
Actually in China, EVs are offered in a full spectrum of price range, from US $5K to $50K. So every financial groups or classes of citizens can easily and comfortably find the EV they desire and can afford.
No. In China eVs are from all range of income group, Wu Ling for the affordable small car to medium size BYD to luxury ones like NIO, XPeng, Zeekr and more.
They really just need the small EVs for local movements and they can enjoy their inter-city travels by HSR! The whole nation is planned and designed towards this end. The overall national saving in not using the fossil oil will be seen by 2025!
A "city" in China is rather different from a typical city in the West. They are in fact more akin to small counties that consist of one or several closely-linked urban cores (typically making up more than half of the "city resident population") plus a smattering of semi-rural and rural townships, districts & villages that fall under a single city administration. In some cities, there can be large swath of land area between population centres (within the city) that are sparsely populated. The area that these "cities" occupy can therefore vary A LOT (anywhere from several hundred sq km to 80 THOUSAND sq km for Chongqing, the largest in China by population). It's just how China organizes its territorial administration that stands unique versus the typical structure in Europe and America, and it suits China well - comparability with other countries' cities be damned. But it pays to bear that in mind when looking at Chinese data on city population.
These would fit in the L7e... But ppl rather buy a used car because they are expensive. No car tax in most countries, but your insurance might be double, triple, comparable to a motorcycle.

In some places in China, this car has a very interesting nickname, "Fish Head with Chopped Chili". It is named after a dish. Because the mini EV is very much like a fish with only a head and no body.
Electric small city/kei cars like the ones shown here should be legal and sold in very city in the world. It's large ICE vehicles that need the boot from crowded urban environments where the common air we breathe needs to be cleaner than ever post COVID...
Imagine how much oil is being left in the ground thanks to these small EVs. Now, imagine how much cleaner big cities could be around the world if this was replicated. Shame about the abandoned rail project though.
Funny but how much mining has to be done for rare earth metals for EV. Have you thought of after life of these toys??? EV as a solution can only be beneficial for City transit (metro even better) but can never replace ICE as a whole.
Mining is done in mines mostly far away from any urban areas. You can limit pollution in a mine unlike all the air pollution caused by cars in the very heart of a city. There is also the unbearable sound pollution they cause which is the major cause of stress. Unfortunately it is not only the petrol lobby preventing faster ev integration. let's not forget that there is a huge sub industry that relies on ice cars to exist who also lobby against ev's to stay relevant, or to adapt to the new future of car manufacture. They better hurry to adopt instead of spewing gossips and false claims around, because anyone can slap an electric motor 4 wheels and a steering wheel on a battery and produce cars in no time.
@@XAWoke all the rare earth materials are expensive, it would be stupid for them to not recycle any of them. not to mention that for large brand battery China has a recycling capability of 99%. Your statement simply doesn’t stand.
thoroughly enjoyed the video and the easy go relaxed nature of your friend ... even the marketing head at wuling. I can sense this really is a relaxed city
I simply cannot imagine China without EV. With its total population, one can imagine how much petrol consumption it will take to move around. That's why careful planning on public transportation and EV is the only way to go. Air is free of car smoke people can just do simple workout anywhere in the open.
I remember a vid about an American city where most people drive around in golf carts. They just bridged the big stroads to get across them. These light vehicles can easily share the infrastructure with cyclists and walkers. Seems to work perfectly. You don't need a Ford F150 to buy your groceries. The settlement structure, however, is a bit more dense, so distances are shorter.
I visited the Wuling factory in the 1990’s when they made the 麵包車 of bread car because the little van looked like a loaf of bread. Did you know that Wuling means “5 diamonds” an extension of Mitsubishi which means “3 diamonds”. You can see it in the respective company logos. I don’t know it for a fact but I believe they got their early designs from Mitsubishi.
Yes, they did disassemble a Mitsubishi L100 minivan in the 1980s and create a replica. But now their gas vehicles mainly use General Motors parts as core components, while the electric cars are basically designed by themselves.
I wonder if you tried to bring a car to the UK, what you would need to do to make it UK legal. What is the change over to ev car from ev bike or ev scooter or ev senior carrier what is the difference ? When does it change?
Look at L7 regs on the UK government website - above 450kg weight then it’s classed as a car and it becomes more expensive and complex. All of these are above L7.
BYD dolphin is huge in this city!!😆 but seriously, many cities in the world could use this culture which almost similar to cities in Japan and some cities of EU. The BMW Isetta is on par with it, slower acceleration but a slightly higher top speed). Though you can swap it's stock motor for a 235hp motor from their custom-made "Forza Edition" Mini Cooper or a 670hp motor from a Porsche Mission-R concept car if you want unrealistic speed from the mini EV. With the Mission-R motor, AWD swap, and ROBOT wide body kit (necessary for wider tires, for better grip) you can easily go well past 200mph. You can ignore the wide body kit if you wanted, though it will be very tail happy due to it's very narrow tires fighting for grip (even with full racing or drag tires, you will struggle with stability off the line).
Was in Liuhzhou in March and have visited that city since 2008.Then it was all diesel or petrol but now most vehicles are electric and the air quality is better
"Well they don't need the Metro if they've got small EVs" No, they absolutely need a metro system. A mini EVs can increase flow slightly but a train can easily have 10-16 times the pax flow rate for a similar or smaller total footprint.
as someone who puts stuff in the back of the pickup a lot, i wonder if some sort of slide out or fold down trailer could make one of these able to haul a sofa or something.
It was so sad to see that metro half built. This is our problem in the USA. We are improperly focusing on EVs as a sustainable solution instead of recognizing that fixed route electric rail (via pantograph or 3rd rail) is far more sustainable. Great documentary Elliot and Stan. Thank you.
I've got a Chinese electric bicycle. Almost all ebikes are made in China these days and they're good quality, well made, affordable and really nice. I can't afford to spend many thousands on a car plus insurance and this bike is freedom in my hilly city. Most people don't realize that ebikes are so practical and economical. I love it! But Beginning June 14, 2024 the U.S. is going to slap a 25% import tariff (tax) on Chinese ebikes and parts which will be passed on to American consumers. This is to punish China for being successful and for the gov. to get more of our money. This really sucks. If you want one you'd better get if fast before the big price increase. Very few ebikes are made in the U.S.and they cost twice as much.
Also, Donald Gump is promising a 10% or more tariff on ALL imported goods if he's elected, and if it's from China it'll be more than 60%. Most economists think this is bonkers. You'll be paying for it. One nonpartisan think tank, Market Watch, says it would be a tax hike of more than $300 billion a year on American consumers ." Trump's proposal of a 10+ percent trade tax matched with in-kind RETALIATION would shrink the U.S. economy by 1.1 percent and threaten more than 825,000 U.S. jobs." Inflation would soar. This doesn't deter Gump who as usual thinks he knows more than any experts.
These are the kind of vehicles we'll need in Europe too. Parking is getting harder and harder even in smaller cities, and instead of trying to fix the problem, car manufacturers are making bigger and bigger cars, which doesn't help at all, especially in eastern Europe, where many parking spots and streets are still designed for the smaller soviet era cars and the idea that not everyone has a car, which nowadays isn't true at all. Many cities started banning cars altogether, but that shouldn't be the only solution. We need cars like these and a new classification, similar to what Japan has with its Kei cars.
ok that was nice... curious to know about the money-side of things... cost, servicing, is there some kind of incentive that has everyone buying those cars...
It's cheap, dirt cheap, not much more than buying a electric scooter but way more safer and comfortable. Nothing really need to be serviced on, and slow charging spot everywhere with almost no cost, and as long as you don't park it in the middle of the road you never get a parking ticket
They do have incentive from the Liuzhou city to encourage people to support the local brand, which is Wuling. The Wuling cars being dirt cheap to begin with means it's easier for locals to hop on than other cities with similar incentives.
These cars are ideal for congested city streets. But Western automakers just don't get it. They want big, smelly, polluting ice cars with no space to park.
Bet that E10 would well roll easy.thing is in UK you can buy nice 2nd hand motor cheap.were quite lucky in that respect.for the choice we have and the money few hundred quid nice car
EV is so much easier to build and should be cheaper than gasoline cars. There are tons of new EV manufactories in China who do not know how to build traditional cars now build EVs, including electronics company like Xiaomi. Competition inspires creativity, and drives down the price.

Trump's proposal of a 10+ percent trade tax matched with in-kind RETALIATION would shrink the U.S. economy by 1.1 percent and threaten more than 825,000 U.S. jobs." Inflation would soar. This doesn't deter Gump who as usual thinks he knows more than any experts.
Great video.
OVERCAPACITY !! of joy!
it's GREAT for city delivery. Not a standard truck to block the whole lane.
It will work if there is road restrictions. Only may roads allowed with big cars. Allow only utility worker and delivery trucks on non-main roads.
Wuling popularized the EV space in Indonesia that other brands start introducing EV options.
Edit: Also love the editing style, feels like top gear
Good idea... I hope Penang adopt is tiny EV cars so that Penang is not congested and have better quality Air to breath in.
If it malfunction, can you diy it,or it goes for recycling?
Very nice thank you.❤❤
In the USA we get 3 ton $80k Cyber Junks.
2:56 Gorgeous 😮
in Tunisia.we build.one of these it is called BACO Motors. It could.be based on a wooling who knows.
My mom was born in that city. My grannies moved there but my grandma didn't like the south, so they went back Henan province.
ok that was nice... curious to know about the money-side of things... cost, servicing, is there some kind of incentive that has everyone buying those cars...
They start at around £3000 or $4500 US. Usually free charging or free plates, lower tax and parking.
Really well-made video guys, pls make more China vids.
The Wuling Jimny is cool! They even copy Suzuki's colour palette.
So basically a fancy golf cart?! I want one.
These cars are ideal for congested city streets. But Western automakers just don't get it. They want big, smelly, polluting ice cars with no space to park.
Not them. The people do to.
i dont understand why people stick to 4-5 seats cars when most of the time just one person drive in them. micro cars are more logic choice
i never knew such city Existed!! Maisnstrean Anglosxon and western media french German would never show places like this in CHINA!!
This is probably the most successful EV GM invested, lol.
Why do they leave the wiper blades pointed up into the air when parked?
So birds don’t come and poop on their window
behind the scenes of fullycharged
Bet that E10 would well roll easy.thing is in UK you can buy nice 2nd hand motor cheap.were quite lucky in that respect.for the choice we have and the money few hundred quid nice car
So basically they’re golf carts with cabs.
A price (GBP/USD/EUR) and range as add-ons would have been nice😮💨
The Reliant Robin: "I was born in the wrong century and the wrong continent..."
I think I love Chinese people. They are hard working ppl.
goddamn chinese really shows how to be a good civilization, they really let the people have it, not like here EV so premium priced
To think that the Western market is still buying humungous pickups and SUV's is absurd!
I would LOVE to have one of these EV's to go with my eBike.
future is the car industry especially in towns
In the West cars are steadily getting bigger, faster and more expensive. China is showing the way to go.
Do you know how many EV fires there are in China?
That is the way everyone should be driving in the city for economic reasons.
Bro how many channels do you have 😂?
I keep changing the name 😂
I want one! But I live in the US :(
You definitely didn't know that Wuling and American General Motors were making cars together.
Now i want that car :)
Very neat city ❤
thanks. I think all China cities are neat and clean.
Are these cars disposable....and buy again after it broke
EV is so much easier to build and should be cheaper than gasoline cars.
There are tons of new EV manufactories in China who do not know how to build traditional cars now build EVs, including electronics company like Xiaomi. Competition inspires creativity, and drives down the price.
They're so cute and funny 😂
