  • I picked up an old anshultz 22 hornet and after sighting it in and being impressed with this little gun i decided to take it on a morning hunt chasing fallow.

    FYI; Anschütz is an verry renownd and old German rifle manufacturer, their rifles are also verry well known under biathlon sportsmen/women, hence top quality.
    BTW, yes I also subscribed to your cannel.

    Thanks for sharing. I'm getting interested in the 22 Hornet. Great hunt. When I was looking at the terrain it reminded me a lot of my area in the south east of the US. It looked like a burn had gone through that one area as it was clean of leaf litter, but out near the pasture it looked normal with plenty of grasses and brush. That was a great shot and harvest. Loved how you cut it up and packed it out too. My hunts usually involve dragging a bit to access it by a vehicle.

    Nice going mate. The Hornet is just the ticket for the lighter deers. They're great on our tiny Muntjac deer here in the UK, great chewing too. Thanks for sharing your hunt with us.

    Worked three decades with a guy who swore by the Anshultz .22LR training rifle. He was in pursuit of a one-hole group. My late grandfather took many deer with cartridges of this size.

      No its not. It has zero relation to savage. It is 100 percent pure german dsign and build. Similar to other germanic brands too like wheirauch and krico.
      If anything, savage coppied that basic design and did so some 20-30 years after the germans were making them....

    Ansultz (or however you spell that) is a High end rifle, especially in 22lr (rimfire rifles). Like Olympic quality stuff is made by them so you got a good one! Wish I had luck like that, to be honest! Not sure where you are but I would guess Australia, but here in the US that would go for good money and is highly collectable. If we could get the Lithgow rifles here again they should sell too because of how they shoot. The ones that are here are collectable. You should google that stuff really quick but good find anyway!

    Tell me something! Why do you and a multitude of other so-called hunters always wear a packpack? Do you expect to be caught somewhere in high altitude by a blizzard? Or perhaps be caught unaware by a serious earthquake and be left homeless? Or do you always carry your lofty amount of pot for sale to whomever you might run into out there at high altitude? Seems rather silly to this old dude!

    • @barrettsoutdooradventures4630
      @barrettsoutdooradventures4630  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Here in qld there is a high possibility of being caught out in a blizzard at high altitude. Never can be too safe ❤

      Eveidently you have never been out in the mountains/forest/desert and been caught unprepared. Well first how about Toilet Paper, food, rain in gear, extra socks, game bag, field dressing tools, ie, extra knife, saw, etc. Hey and don’t forget flash light for getting caught after dark, oh yes and fire stater and a first aid kit. How’s that for starters. And you don’t have to be a hunter even hikers like to be prepared. Hope this answers your question.

      My ULTRA LIGHT day pack is a 3 litre water bladder, it has an energy drink for back up, t.p. in a ziplock bag. Some anti diarrhea pills, a few caffeine 'no doze' pills. A flash light, a headlamp with spare batteries, extra blades for my knife. (3.5" outdoor edge). If I am worried, a military poncho. And some candy like Snickers bars.
      Next step up. That bag goes into my LIGHT PACK, and it has a small tarp, SMALL sleeping bag, some black garbage sacks. Some rope and deer bags. Spare socks. (In zip lock bag). MRE maybe a freeze dry meal. My greyrl water filter with nester cup. A light jacket, rain pants and poncho for sure.
      Next step. Big pack, (expect to pack a buck out-when I go way back). Same as last pack. But has a small saw, small tarp too. Some rags too. Maybe more water or couple Gatorades.
      Last pack. HEAVY FREIGHTER pack. Candy, water. About it, this is the pack when I already killed an animal, and solely packing it out. It's processed, I usually don't pack a rifle when this pack it out. Sidearm only.
      I also almost ALWAYS pack my binoculars on my chest pack, regardless what's on my back. (Tags and licence license in this pack) along with a TINY 1 aa cell light, a headlamp, with spair batteries. And a spair knife blade. Sometimes a spair blue elk bugle rubber. OCCASIONALLY butt wipe too. But not much room in the chest bag.

      @halspencer,
      Hard to hear your tone, but i do detect either ignorance or bitterness (both ?).
      Become a hunter and you'll have the best answer.
      Reach into your pack (which you won't have) for something you sorely need (and don't have) and you'll have immediately gained a minute amout of knowledge. Or, remain as you are... ☆
