I think Duplee is suffering from the same issue that some music fans suffer from when it comes to the fandom, and that's being prepared for when the lack of research and criticism that you spew backfires on you. I’m tryin to rack my brain, exactly when and how we got to this point. The only thing I can think of, as of now, is either too many ppl didn’t pay attention in history class, or too many grading curves happened allowed ppl to pass when they should have been held back to make sure they understand the material being taught.
It's about whether or not you should engage with the art of someone who you think is problematic. Kanye has said some pretty bad stuff, but he is also in the top 10 most popular artists right now and has been for a long time. If we look at other artists he has reviewed, a lot of them have said and done some awful stuff so it seems hypocritical to single out Kanye - all while he's creating a bunch of content around Kanye and farming engagement from the controversy.
Something that I hate is when the guy also has to like "compliment" fantano in order to "show that he still has respect for him" when to me I see it as the dude kissing his ass just so he can try to get in his good graces, which to me feels like a tactic for fantano not to engage with the arguments as harshly as he is. This is a super basic cliffnotes answer but basically Judaism is an extremely old religion that predates a lot of modern day ethnicities. As such, many ethnicities of ancient times had Jewish populations withing them, and these populations were often segregated from the rest of society. Because of this, the decendents of these old Jewish communities have in some cases remained relatively ethnically distinct, leading to people who are 'ethnically Jewish.' Judaism is still a religion today though and so not everyone who practices the religion is necessarily ethnically Jewish. If you want a more educational answer you'll just have to look it up cause again, this was a very shallow answer to a pretty deep question.

Kanye has said some pretty bad stuff, but he is also in the top 10 most popular artists right now and has been for a long time. If we look at other artists he has reviewed, a lot of them have said and done some awful stuff so it seems hypocritical to single out Kanye - all while he's creating a bunch of content around Kanye and farming engagement from the controversy.

This is a super basic cliffnotes answer but basically Judaism is an extremely old religion that predates a lot of modern day ethnicities. As such, many ethnicities of ancient times had Jewish populations withing them, and these populations were often segregated from the rest of society. Because of this, the decendents of these old Jewish communities have in some cases remained relatively ethnically distinct, leading to people who are 'ethnically Jewish.' Judaism is still a religion today though and so not everyone who practices the religion is necessarily ethnically Jewish. If you want a more educational answer you'll just have to look it up cause again, this was a very shallow answer to a pretty deep question.
